Meet
Hercules!! He's no longer in chains!
Friends?
I'm going to have friends? Let me at them! I'm in
heaven now!!
When Hercules came
to rescue he was so fat he could barely walk. At 150 lb.
he resembled a pig more than a Dobe. He's now on a weight
lost regimen, has quickly becoming devoted to Arda and will
follow her around all day for his exercise. He'd been left
for alone without any care and due to boredom has a nasty
lick granuloma on his back leg requiring him to wear a no-bite
collar. As this heals and he has more stimulus in his day
he will soon be able to shed this collar. He will have hip
x-rays soon to determine if his funny walk is weight related
or due to another medical issue. He has been stated on Soloxine
for low thyroid levels and this too will help him shed the
pounds. Hercules has many medical issues at this time due
to long years of owner neglect.
UPDATE
12/11/11: Herc looks so much better now! I'm attaching
a pic of him we put in this year's SCD calendar. He has
lost a lot of weight. He LOVES kongs with peanut butter,
and by keeping one with him at all times Arda has healed
his lick granulomas. He is even starting to grow hair on
those legs. He is a big lover boy. Sadly he has developed
cancer in his mouth. It is inoperable. He is safe, happy,
and in no pain right now. He adores Arda and she loves him
to death. She will give him all the time and love possible.
Please send up some prayers for our big boy to get more
time being happy. If any dog deserves it, Hercules does.
Thanks, Sarah SCD
