Welcome to doberman911.org, the website for Special Needs Dobermans (SND). We are an organization of people with a common goal of helping senior and special needs Dobermans. That need may be financial or it may be only information and/or moral support for the owner of a Doberman with a serious illness or injury. We will also aid in rehoming and fostering senior Dobermans. These Dobermans may be shelter rescues or they may already be much loved companions with a special need. Financial aid may be through donations or through avenues such as online auctions. Every precaution will be taken to assure that the need is real.

HELP ME
Give me the ugly dog with one eye, three legs,
and help me show that they're more than just a form and a face.
Give me the scarred dog, burned and slashed with hate,
and help me lead it away from that terrible fate.
Give me the deaf and blind dog, and help me show it the way
in the silence and dark of each of their days.
Give me the shutdown dog, depressed of mind,
and help me cherish their soul until their fears unwind.
Give me the old dog, bent and broken with age,
and help me fill their last days with an unending grace.
Give me the ugly dog, I'll leave the pretty one for you,
and help me show them they're worthy of love and joy, too.

Meet The SNDobes Helped With General Funds!!
These Special Needs Dobermans were helped with one-time grants from our most important fund, the General Fund. This fund is used to help Dobermans fortunate enough to find themselves in Rescue Groups. Assistance is only provided for extraordinary expenses. These grants can be augmented by your generous contributions to any of these precious Dobes!! Private owners will be provided the necessary information to help them fundraise for their own Dobes as well as being given information to reduce their costs for medications and ways to seek additional information about Doberman illnesses.
JJ!
|
December, 2015: Dear sweet Little JJ! Only 4 months old and thrown on the dung heap by a backyard greeder who knew they could never get 30 pieces of silver for him given his condition! By three months old, it became very apparent that his gait was abnormal to say the least! His gait is likely a lot less abnormal than the ethical sense of the greeders that brought him into the world!! The greeders at least tried to make dumping him the only right thing they did - they contacted the RescueAngels at Dobie-Rescue of North Florida! Judy took one look at JJ and her next stop was to her Vet for x-rays and diagnosis of his obvious issues. The diagnosis was scoliosis of the spine, a condition not really amenable to surgery but very possibly mitigated by some early (like NOW) physical therapy to strengthen his muscles to the point of taking some of the strain off his spine so his gait could be normalized somewhat. He has so charmed all who meet him that no charge was made for the actual evaluations by the surgeon and his PT practitioner Erin. JJ and Judy are asking for help with the x-rays and extensive PT he will require at least initially. Won't you help them and us?? Sure you will!! You can mail your donation in or click on the Paypal button to the right. (If using Paypal please use the 'Send Money' link in your account and then the 'friends and family' tab which will keep your gift Fee Free!!) And from now until 12/31, just write 'Make Santa Pay' in your remarks and your gift will be MATCHED! Remember, NO donation is ever too small! All of us at SND and certainly JJ and Judy THANK YOU so much for your continuing support!! SND Case Management Team rooting for JJ - our latest Dyn-O-MITE!! Want more sugar?? Dean!
|
December, 2015: Dean is a two years young fellow whose life started out at the hands of a money hungry backyard "greeder." He'd been placed in a home once before, and while we don't know the exact circumstances of why, we do know he was returned to the "greeder." The return could have been because poor Dean has had no socialization at all! He doesn't even know how to be a dog, let alone a beloved pet. Then Dean's ship came in and he was rescued by the Dobeangels of Dog Mountain Rescue located in California. Dean is loving learning how good life can be and is adapting quite well to his new Doberfriends. Recently, Dean became a bit over zealous while playing and running and he fell and then slid into a fire hydrant! He was immediately taken to the vet where he was diagnosed with a fractured leg. His right front leg was then stabilized for the trip to an orthopedic specialist. Dean's prognosis is "He'll be good as new." The ortho specialist requires payment upfront and had not offered a discounts to rescues - having been previously abused by other rescues (all-breed rescue likely as we know of no Doberman rescues that would endanger a discount by no-payment). Please, let us band together and raise the funds needed for payment of Dean's surgery! We at SND and the rescues you help with your donations are forever grateful for your continuing support. THANK YOU!! Beth McCahren, Case Manager for Dean. Want more sugar?? Lucas!
|
December, 2015: Lucas is just a little boy... and not only because he's only 3 years old. He's sweet and petite! We don't know his early life, but, he was adopted out of a West Virginia shelter into a home with cats, dogs and kids - Lucas loved them all. Unfortunately his feelings weren't returned by an unaltered male Dobe in the house... When the inevitable scuffle happened, Lucas was blamed and returned to the shelter. Fortunately for him, he was saved by the Rescue Angels at South West Ohio Doberman Rescue. Toni and Melissa just wrapped this little boy in loving arms and brought him home. He has really done well there - he even stole the show at a fund raiser last weekend! Lucas has several people longing to give him a long, happy life - once he is healthy and ready to go! Lucas is heartworm positive (surprised?). Those damn worms stand between him and forever... He has had his first immiticide shot this week and is doing fine! SWODR has asked SND to join in another heartworm fight and that is one battle we will always fight! Please consider helping this boy start a new life with a new family for the New Year! You can begin helping Lucas now by clicking on the PayPal button to the right. (if using Paypal, please use the 'Send Money' link in your account and use the 'friends and family' tab which will keep your gift 'fee free'). You may also mail one in. No amount is too small and every penny goes to this little sweetie! As always, we at SND appreciate your continued support of our SNDobies!!! Without you we could not go on!! Thank you!!!! Carol Belknap, Case Manager for Lucas. |

Reddy!
|
December, 2015: Meet Mr. Reddy! Reddy, like so many other of his discarded, abused, neglected brethren Dobermans, cannot tell us the story of their lives before they finally reach a safe haven. Reddy may be 4-5 years old but likely also has a lot of mileage. He was abandoned at a kindly Vet's office and, lucky for him, San Antonio Doberman Rescue was contacted and you just KNOW, the SADARescue Angels responded. He is just the sweetest Dude and charms all who meet him - even when he's feeling poorly. Reddy was also heartworm positive (surprised?) and was treated. A month went by after his treatment and he seemed to be doing well until he began losing weight - 16 pounds in 2-3 weeks. He is suffering from some mysterious GI issue but he was back at the Vet for some extensive GI testing. No results yet except for a very large bill (another surprise?). Reddy and SADAR desperately need your help to try and get him back to health so he can go on to a future with real promise of love and care forever! Won't you help us help us help them?? Please send your best thoughts for a good outcome on testing and a full recovery!! Join us now with your donation using the PayPal button on the right or of course, you may mail in a check! Every cent, 100%, will be used to help with Reddy's medical care! THANK YOU for you support of these SNDobermans!! SND Case Management Team rooting for Reddy! |

Remington!
|
December, 2015: This amazing and very special 12 year old gentleman is Remington, who, as fortune had it, found himself in a southern California shelter as a stray with no one to claim him. Northern California Doberman Rescue got word that this beautiful gentleman was waiting patiently for salvation and they immediately swooped in and snagged him. Remington was able to hitch a ride via the Dobe Express for the long journey to Red Bluff, staying in a couple of loving foster homes for the prolonged transport, and reports are he wowed everyone he came to meet. He's happy, sweet, and overall, generally healthy. When he arrived at NorCalDR, his vet exam revealed several fatty lipomas and a touch of arthritis, but he's vibrant and happy. He is also unaltered, which his veterinarian decided to leave well enough alone because of his advanced age. One of his tumors on his posterior, however, started to annoy Remington and he began licking it, which resulted in breaking the skin and exposing the tissue. To prevent infection, his veterinarian wants to excise the lipoma and close the skin, so surgery is in the near future for this wonderful senior. The state of CA and many of the southern states, sadly, are being swamped with Dobermans right now. NorCalDR is scrambling, along with other Dobe Rescues, to accommodate these dear Dobermans. It seems we are seeing at least 2 or three a day in shelters in dire need of rescue, veterinary care and forever homes. We need your help! NorCalDR is struggling to make sure no Doberman gets left behind. Remington is also a member of the Senior Doberman Project and you can visit him here - and maybe even decide to become one of his Sponsors - visit him here http://www.doberman911.org/seniors/cases/ca_remington.html. Give yourself a very special holiday gift and help SND assist the NorCalDR Angels with Remington's surgical expenses. You will be rewarded knowing you've helped a wonderful, happy Senior Doberman live out his life comfortably and happily! You can mail in your tax deductible donation or click on the Paypal button to the right (if using Paypal, please use the 'Send Money' link in your account and use the 'friends and family' tab which will keep your gift 'fee free'). Please remember, there never is a donation that is too small, and t100% will go directly towards Remington's veterinary care. Thank you, from Remington, the NorCalDR Angels and me, Leslie Michell-Young, Remington's Friend and Case Manager - and happy holidays! |

Quinn!
|
December, 2015: Sweet Quinn is an eight year old Senior Dobie who needs our help. Quinn was found wandering the streets of Carlsbad, New Mexico when he was picked up by Animal Control who in turn took Quinn to the area shelter. It was obvious to all that Quinn had severe injuries and was in great pain. The first rescue who agreed to take Quinn didn't stay true to their word, and that left Quinn at the shelter for two more weeks! Quinn's luck turned around when the RescueAngels of Saving Dobermankind Animal Rescue (SDKAR) were notified about him and quickly came to his side. The SDKAR angels immediately had him vetted where it was determined Quinn had been hit by a car, and by the looks of things, he'd been on his own and in profound pain for up to a month! As if that wasn't enough, he was also quite underweight. Quinn was diagnosed with a large avulsion to his right front leg and a severely dislocated left hip along with a fractured pelvis. No wonder this poor fellow was in so much pain! He was also 30 pounds underweight! Quinn has undergone a FHO which should give him a relatively normal life. He is presently receiving physical therapy (aimed at restoring his ambulating ability), hydro-treadmill therapy and range of motion exercises. He is a super velcro dog who loves everyone. And he's a smart fellow too, he's figured out how to open latched doors! As you can see, SDKAR has large medical bills in the making, which is why they've come to SND for assistance. Please open your heart to this fellow who is being properly cared for- most likely for the first time in his life. You can mail in your tax deductible donation or click on the Paypal button to the right (if using Paypal, please use the 'Send Money' link in your account and use the 'friends and family' tab which will keep your gift 'fee free'). Please remember, there is NO donation that is too small, and the entire amount will go directly towards Quinn's veterinary care. You can also visit Quinn on his Senior Doberman Project page at http://www.doberman911.org/seniors/cases/co_quinn.html. SND remains forever grateful for your continued support. We all thank you for your love of these precious Seniors! Beth McCahren, Case Manager for The Mighty Quinn!! |

Banker!
|
November, 2015: Meet Master Banker!! He is a 3 month old, red boy with a compound fracture in both tibia and fibula of his left rear leg. The rest of his story is as short as his age and as SWEET as he is due to the fact that we have very little information on this little guy. He was interned in a shelter in California on November 13th - if you're superstitiout, yes, that was a Friday. Seems ominous but it just gets super-hopeful from here!! This little guy is the cutest, sweetest little one ever. We have no idea if he was a stray or an owner turn in and no idea what happened to his leg - your imagination can do the rest and it's always worse than you can imagine. What we do know is that the shelter vet did not immobilize the joint (knee) above the fractures before merely putting on a splint. Therefore, the bones tried to heal but even with the splint the joint above the breaks could easily move. So basically the bones just stopped trying to heal, which means even if splinted correctly now they will not heal properly and he will be left with a stiff leg. The only option now is surgery to insert a plate at the site of the fractures. And, by the way, they named him Banker, because without the help of SND, this will break the Bank of this rescue. He's The Man Who Broke The Bank At Monte Carlo... er, Northern California Doberman Rescue that is!! Banker is scheduled to have this leg-saving surgery tomorrow, Wednesday. Nov 25th - he will be sooooo very thankful this Turkey Day to be sure!! Paula and her husband, who by the way are true angels and dear Friends of NorCalDR and Lovers of Dobermans, had gone quickly to the shelter in Sacramento and whisked Master Banker to Red Bluff and to RescueAngel Dana's open arms!! He has totally charmed everyone he meets including the shelter staff (surprise, surprise, surpise... :)). He is so curious and attentive and very well behaved. He has been in a large crate where he can see everything that is going on around him and entertains himself with lots of different toys and then takes a nap. He is going to make someone a great companion!! He even tells you when he has to go potty (well, mostly... who's counting) and, WHO'S A GOOD BOY?? Just look at this face, no one and I mean no one, should be able to resist. We all need help with this baby's surgery which is going to be a lot of money I am sure - a lot more than this small independent rescue can handle! If you can look at this sweetheart and not melt on the spot, I will be very surprised. So, please help in any way possible - every cent, 100% will go to Banker's care. You can mail your tax deductible donation or click on the PayPal button to the right (if using PayPal, please use the "Send Money" link in your account and use "friends or family" tab which will keep your gift fee free!). Remember, no amount is ever too small and your entire donation will go directly to Master Banker's veterinary care! From our SND family and all of the rescues you continue to help us support, we gratefully Thank You!! Nancy Harwood, Case Manager for Banker.Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!! Emma!
|
November, 2015: Beautiful 10 years young Miss Emma is yet another stunning Senior that was surrendered because her family moved overseas. Fortunately for this beautiful girl, she was surrendered to Saving Dobermankind Animal Rescue and Aubrey Shulz, a member of their board of directors who scooped Emma up to be a forever foster. Emma has and had several health problems including cataracts, incontinence, vaginitis and a severe allergy or dermatitis, which is causing her more discomfort and pain than all the other troubles combined. Her itchiness drives her to distraction and the only medication - so far - that brings this dear girl any relief is Temaril-P, which contains prednisone, a corticosteroid. The problem is Temaril-P is not a long term soulition for Emma, as she's already displaying Cushingoid symptoms from the prednisone and the constant use of steroids will kill her. Emma needs a consultation with a canine dermatologist. It was already suggested Emma start Apoquel, but it is now unavailable. However, there is a new injectable medication available that is certain to help Emma. Saving Dobermankind has had more than their share of sadness and expensive cases - they just lost a beautiful puppy, and they have a number of orthopedic cases as well. Please help Emma and the warriors of SND with Saving Dobermankind's expenses helping Emma. We all thank you for your love of Seniors! As a matter of fact, you could also visit Emma's Senior page and offer her a Sponsorship too - check here out here http://www.doberman911.org/seniors/cases/co_emma.html. For Miss Emma's medical issues, You can mail your tax deductible donation or click on the PayPal button to the right (if using PayPal, please use the "Send Money" link in your account and use "friends or family" tab which will keep your gift fee free!). Remember, no amount is ever too small and your entire donation will go directly to Miss Emma's veterinary care! Thank you for your support of the SNDobermans and the SDP Seniors!! Pauly!
|
December,
2015:
It is with much sadness and many tears that we bring you the news of Pauly's
death. Bloat is one of those events that doesn't always end well.
Dear Pauly was at the hospital when this occurred - timing, the critical
thing in bloat, was on his side - but, the bloat did its damage rapidly.
We would like to thank all who reached out to Pauly and thanks to you,
the financial burden is slightly less. Thank you DRNV for giving
him a chance... Look for Pauly in the Night Sky - He;s the newest,
brightest star in Sirius' Garden tonight - he'll twinkle down on all who
loved him always. |

Fletcher!
|
November, 2015: No one knows why Fletcher's "family" dumped him in a South Carolina shelter when he was 9 (YES... NINE) years old (just look at that face!). It has been surmised they found out he was heartworm positive and just didn't want to deal with it in an old dog - or deal with an old dog at all - one they could have prevented from meeting this fate at any age. I repeat, look at that face - and a Senior to boot! You can visit his Senior Page here http://www.doberman911.org/seniors/cases/oh_fletcher.html. Luckily for this cutie-patootie, Doberman Assistance Network found him. DAN leaves no Dobe behind and thus Fletcher was theoretically safe... except for the floods and the heartworm. With South Carolina besieged by hurricane flooding, they had to hurry him into North Carolina. Safer, but still not safe, he needed somewhere to go. South West Ohio Doberman Rescue was full to the rafters but they simply couldn't turn away this super sweet Senior. He has become a real favorite there! An admirer donated a coat and a sweater for him and boy is he stylin' or what? I hear he has another sweater and a raincoat coming too! He'll need his own closet in his next (and forever) home! Please consider joining SWODR and SND in his heartworm fight. It seems as though I am always asking for help with heartworm cases and here I go again! Please help this absolutely adorable Senior-boy! No amount of help is too small and every penny will go to Fletcher's bills. You can mail your tax deductible donation or click on the PayPal button to the right (if using PayPal, please use the "Send Money" link in your account and use "friends or family" tab which will keep your gift fee free!). Working together, we can get this guy healthy and into a home to truly enjoy the rest of his life. As always, we at SND appreciate your continued support of our SNDobies!!! There's a larger picture of newest Poster Gent, Mr. Fletcher, here http://www.doberman911.org/. Carol Belknap, Case Manager for Fletcher. Thank you!! |

Lutzy!
|
November, 2015: Dear, wonderful Lutzy was surrendered by his elderly owner this past August when the owner had to go into assisted living. This handsome 10 year old gent was well cared for and has adapted to Fillmore's Dobe Ranch Rescue and is now one of their official greeters and diplomats. Recently, Lutzy visited DPR's vet where a lump under his tongue was discovered. It appeared to be encapsulated and a biopsy showed it was a low grade malignancy and it was removed to assure dear Lutzy will be comfortable and happy. This was six weeks ago and much to everyone's dismay, the lump looks like it is growing again. Another attempt with biopsy will be attempted to be sure excision catches it all if it has not changed character. Lutzy is also a member of the Senior Doberman Project and is looking for a sponsor. You can visit his Senior Page here http://www.doberman911.org/seniors/cases/ca_lutzy.html. DPR has helped countless Dobermans not only find loving homes, but has also cared for many, many Seniors in need, giving them a home on the ranch that is loving, happy and stable. This costs money, and this wonderful rescue cannot operate and save Dobermans without your - and SND's financial assistance. Please find it in your heart to make a donation to SND to help with Lutzy's surgery. Every cent will go to paying for this wonderful boy's surgery AND you will feel wonderful knowing Lutzy will be greeting more homeless Dobermans at the Ranch for many months to come. You can make that donation by using the PayPal button on the right or by mailing one in. Thank you!! Leslie Michell-Young, Case Manager for Lutzy. |

Shadow!
|
November, 2015: Greetings Doberman Lovers! Meet our newest general fund case, Shadow. Shadow is a Senior at seven years Dude who only wants to be someones "shadow" - how bad is that? I look at my own rescued girl Sadie and think I should have named her shadow as she IS my constant shadow! I cannot even imagine relegating her to a pen outside, 24/7, for seven years. But, that is exactly what happened to this Shadow. And then, because he jumped a 7 foot fence, once, to be with his people - he was banished forever and dumped at a Sacramento Animal Shelter. All he wanted was to be with people and to be loved! Once he was in rescue he escaped from his kennel because he saw people doing yard work and wanted to be with them! Due to being kept outside for so many years, probably with little vet care, if any, he is heartworm positive. Doberman Pinscher Rescue in Filmore, California says Shadow is a great dog with a great disposition. He just wants to be with people all the time! Being heartworm positive in southern CA is a death sentence in itself as no one, especially not financially burdened rescues, can afford the truly outrageous prices for treatment there - FIVE TIMES higher than anywhere else in the country. Fortunately for Shadow, Rescues do cooperate with each other when they can in order to save a Doberman's life. In this casee, Dog Mountain Rescue in northern CA stepped in to see that he got the treatment he needs to save his life because heartworm is MUCH more reasonably treated there. He was very skinny when he came into rescue, but now that he has been fattened up he is a very good looking, happy and friendly Dude. He has already received his first heartworm treatment and has had no problems. Once he is cured he will make someone a great companion! He is a typical dobe in that he loves all people. Now that he has good food, shelter and the love he has needed for seven years, he has no need to escape, and after all isn't that what life is all about?! Can you imagine having a dog for years and without conscience just dump it in an animal shelter? I cannot, and could never do that to my companion and I doubt anyone reading this could either. Needless to say, rescues are always in the red, so DPR and their assisting rescue, DMR, need our help with Shadow's treatment. Anything you can do will be much appreciated. You can make a donation by using the PayPal button on the right or mailing one in. Thank you so much for helping us help them! Nancy Harwood, Case Manager for Shadow. |

Rusty!
|
November, 2015: Meet Mr. Rusty! Rusty is a 4 year old who was "surrendered" by his owner who had fallen on "hard times" - all of us face hard times but dumping our beloved dogs is not the first thing we might think of doing, is it? Those hard times might actually be the BEST time for Rusty now that he is under San Antonio Doberman RescueAngel's wings. Rusty was in very bad shape when he came to SADAR, frequently falling over on his side and he was also very thin. Rusty was immediately taken to SADAR's primary vet for a check-up including shots and pain medications - he certainly acted like he was in some pain caused by at least two obvious causes - the instability and a large lump on his foreleg. A consult was arranged to have his spine checked and upon x-ray, a compressed disk is believed to be the problem. An MRI was recommended to see if there is a chance this disk might be safely decompressed. The growth on his leg was really beginning to bother him as he licked at it constantly causing an open sore. An aspiration biopsy was done but the pathologists have asked for an actual tissue sample. That biopsy was done today (11/5/15) and now the paws crossed waiting for pathology results begins. No further medical interventions will be possible until it's determined whether he has an osteosarcoma growing in that suspicious looking lump. Rusty and SADAR need your help to try and get him back to health so he can go on to a future with real promise of love and care forever! Won't you help us help Rusty?? Please do and send your best thoughts for a good biopsy outcome!! Join now with your donation using the PayPal button on the right or of course, you may mail in a check! Every cent, 100%, will be used to help with Rusty's medical care! THANK YOU for you support of these SNDobermans!! SND Case Management Team rooting for Rusty! |

Abbie!
|
November, 2015: Abbie had a family for all of her 5 years. She gave them several litters of pups and they gave her too much food. No doubt she would have been happy like that for her entire life but things change... Her family moved and she was forced to live alone, outside, at the new house. (I tried hard to imagine suddenly chaining out one of my girls after years indoors - I could not imagine much less do it!!) This unhappy new way of life also brought the dreaded heartworm. After she was thoroughly miserable and infected, her "loving family" decided she should probably find a family who would let her live inside. So after doing too little, too late, she was surrendered to rescue. Abbie has become South West Ohio Doberman Rescues' newest heartworm girl. Sweet Melissa says she is a wonderful girl with a great smile - unfortunately hard to see in this thumbnail - the white under her precious chin is actually her toothy grin! She loves everyone - dogs, kitties and children. Particularly children and she will drag Melissa over to visit any kids she sees. Seems like her only dislike is boy dogs - after alll, they were part of the pregnant equation... :). If I had children in my house, I would foster this girl in a heartbeat! Look at those eyes, that sweet face! We can't all take her in and cuddle her down to a reasonable weight, but we can help her! Please consider joining SWODR and SND in yet another heartworm battle. Miss Abbie deserves to be healthy and happy in a house brimming with love and children. You can begin making this possible by clicking on the PayPal button to the righ by sending your gift to "Friends and Family" from your account - this makes your donation fee-free for you and us too! You may also mail your check. We at SND are eternally grateful to all of you who fight the heartworm war with us. You are much appreciated! Thank you!! Carol Belknap, Case Manager for Miss Abbie. |

Ray!
|
UPDATE:
Master Ray's visit to the ophthalmologist went very well considering the
possibilities. As suspected, Ray is blind in his bulging left eye
though it seems less bulged now that he's growing into his skull.
He has perfect vision in his right eye and the vets want to try and keep
the other eye as long as possible and it is not causing him any discomfort.
He will be rechecked in 6 months but he is ready to look for his Forever
Family right now!! THANK YOU to his supporters for your help with
his expenses!! GOOD LUCK RAY!! |

Keegan!
|
October, 2015: Miss Keegan had been with her family since puppyhood, and at almost 10 she's at that perfect stage, don't you think? Our seniors are so precious... Only at this supposedly golden time of her life, Keegan's family fell on hard times and lost their house. Along with the house they shed their lumpy old girl too and Keegan lost everything. After she was dumped, she was lucky enough to be found by Doberman Assistance Network. DAN saved her and got her to Dobermans Underground (formerly Forever Dobes Rescue). We all know how Cindy Landis is when she gets hold of a case like this - Keegan is in good hands now! Although she had been well cared for up until 3 YEARS AGO, she needs help now. Keegan has soft tissue sarcoma grade l-ll. It is a slow growing type that rarely metastasizes and Dobes Underground didn't hesitate to have her abdominal tumors removed. After her surgery she had a bit of trouble with bleeding, although there were no previous episodes in her history, but she came through just fine! She is also troubled by hypothyroidism and a little arthritis but is otherwise a healthy old girl! Cindy says Keegan is everything a Dobe should be. She is lovely, intelligent, and everyone that meets her, loves her. In spite of everything that has befallen her, she has never been anything but sweet. In fact, she can often be found just hanging out in the treatment area at the vet's office rather than back in the kennel. Although her hypothyroidism makes her look sad, she has moments of pure joy (particularly at feeding time)! Dobes Underground have asked SND for help, and we, in turn, are asking the Doberman community to step forward again for this sweet old lady. You may begin helping Keegan by clicking on the PayPal button to the right, or by mailing one in. This old sweetie would be happy with any amount of help you could manage - and every penny would go directly to her expenses! SND couldn't do the job it does without the help of what I think of as "The Doberman Community" - and for that you have our eternal appreciation and THANKS!!!! There's a larger picture of newest Cover Girl, Miss Keegan, here http://www.doberman911.org/. Carol Belknap, Case Manager for Miss Keegan. |

Rinjin!
|
October, 2015: Handsome Rinjin may be between 1.5 - 5 years old, no one actually knows, just like no one knows where Rinjin is from, if he was ever a cherished family member, or how he ended up on the kill list at a very overcrowded, urban shelter in Baltimore, Maryland. What we do know is that the angels of The Rescue Express tucked Rinjin under their loving wings literally moments before he was scheduled to lose his young life. While in foster care, Rinjin was noted to have difficulty navigating stairs along with signs of neurological abnormalities. His lameness had quickly worsened to the point that he often fell, had great difficulty standing and has severe pain which has left him unable to function. He has been treated with steroid injections, however they were ineffective. Rinjin had a consult with a neurologist at Penn State Veterinary Hospital in Philadelphia to finally get an actual diagnosis and prognosis. TRE is an all-breed rescue who is presently in great debt due to the multitude of medical needs of many of the animals they've rescued. They describe Rinjin as "one of the sweetest dogs we have ever rescued and is wonderful with other dogs, all people and all children." The TRE angels are committed to Rinjin - and when an all breed helps one of ours - well, how can we refuse? Rinjin did have a consult with MRI of his brain and spine - the news was illuminating if not all wonderful. Yes, he does show cervical vertebral issues, however, they are not major concern at this time. It seems that Rinjin has some serious cranium and brain defects that were trauma-induced or perhaps congenital - there is no way to know. These abnormalities have resulted in seizure activity which the neurologists believe are controllable. He is on therapy now and in the care of loving Fosters and so, time will tell. The RescueAngels from TRE do need our help to ensure Rinjin is able to receive the medical care he so desperately needed and continues to get. You can make a tax deductible donation in any amount by using the PayPal button on the right as 'a donation to friends or family' which will make your gift fee free, or you can send it in by snail mail. Thank you so much for your continued support as together with the RescueAngels, we will continue to help save Doberman lives!! Beth McCahren, Case Manager for Rinjin. |

Betty!

October,
2015:
It is with much sadness that we bring you the news of Miss Betty's death.
If there's any comfort here it is in the fact that she was afforded the
best possiible chance to survive, but it was too late and too much for
her cancer ravaged body to take. She didn't die the way she had
lived - she finally knew love and care at the end of her life. Thank
you TFRM for giving her that dignity. Rest in peace, play endlessly
in Sirius' Garden in the Night Sky, twinkling down on those that loved
you well. |

November,
2015:
We are so sorry to bring you the news of Miss Brandy's death. As with
all of the Dobes we must lose, there's a comfort here in knowing that
she was afforded the best possiible chance to survive, but it was too
late and too much for her cancer ravaged body to take. Most importantly,
she didn't die the way she had lived - she finally knew love and care
of her Foster Family at the end of her life . Thank you DAN and
thank you Foster Family for giving her that dignity. Rest in peace,
play endlessly in Sirius' Garden in the Night Sky, you are and always
will be very. |

Mallory!
|
September, 2015:The kindest thing 2 year old Mallory's owners ever did for her was to tell the vet to put her down. Her owners realized her leg was broken after she got hit by a 4-wheeler and decided she wasn't worth saving. She is so-o-o lucky they did take her to the vet rather than just shooting her... never mind asking WHY she was in the path of traffic. The vet asked them to release her to him - no hesitation there, anything, as long as it wasn't their problem! This well-meaning rural vet then called South West Ohio Doberman Rescue with the offer of a free amputation of the leg if they would take her in. Toni West and our sweet Melissa gladly took Mallory in, but insisted on taking her to a specialist for treatment instead. Her life and her limb were definitely worth saving!! Going into surgery, it was thought there were 3 large pieces of bone. Once inside they realized there were also 3 smaller pieces. It was quite a jig saw puzzle and now includes a plate and a lot of screws as well! Mallory came through the surgery with flying colors! Now we must all hope there is no nerve damage, only time will tell, although the vet sees none at the moment. Depending on her pain levels, Melissa will be bringing her home Friday, or Saturday at the latest, for strict crate rest. We all know what a wonderful job Melissa does with the walking wounded, I have no doubt she will thrive from now on! Please consider joining SWODR and SND in our effort to provide for her very expensive surgical costs - a cost extremely difficult for this small Band of RescueAngels to handle alone and still be able to help the next Doberman that needs them - there will be another, and another as all of us know too well! You may begin helping Mallory by clicking on the PayPal button to the right as a donation to friends or family which is fee-free to the donor and SND. Of course, you may also mail one in. No amount is ever too small and every penny will go to Mallory! Please remember, we at SND appreciate your continued support of our SNDobies! There's a larger picture of newest Cover Girl, Miss Mallory, here http://www.doberman911.org/. Thank you!! Carol Belknap, Case Manager for Mallory. |

Libby!
|
September, 2015: This breathtaking girl has endured some obscene domestic violence. Our wonderful friends at Doberman Rescue of Nevada received a call from an inebriated angry man stating that his Doberman got into the trash and bit him after he "corrected" her. He angrily and profanely yelled he was planning to shoot her in the head. Fortunately for Libby, DRNV knew exactly who this individual was, as he had attempted to adopt a Dobe from them awhile back. They raced to the house and were met by neighbors who told him they heard three gunshots. They located Libby, in pain, limping and bleeding from her foot... but otherwise very happy to be safe, still sweet and very much alive. They no sooner got Libby to the veterinarian when they received an additional call from the apparently very drunk man, generously sprinkled with profanity and slurred speech stating something to the effect that Libby was untrainable in that he couldn't house train her using his own technique, which was rubbing her nose in it and hitting her in the face if she had an accident. He gave no information regarding Libby's vaccination records, heartworm status or anything else. The vet also discovered that Libby was bleeding from a cut lip - no doubt with her encounter with the "Correctioner?" Neighbors said Libby is well loved in the neighborhood - she was allowed to wander, as her owner would not use his fenced yard - and she has proven to be as infinitely sweet as she is beautiful. Libby will need her foreleg in a splint for 6-8 weeks with bandage changes every three days for weeks to monitor healing without infection. Her toe is cleanly broken, apparently by a bullet and there may be some tendon damage and that adds to the need for several weeks of limited mobility to recover and save the toe. Her recovery will be expensive, BUT, she is in very loving and watchful arms now. I, for one, will be able to smile knowing DRNV is helping Libby heal and find a home where she will be treasured as she always should have been. Please help Libby, DRNV and SND on our mission by donating what you can to help. No living creature should be subjected to this kind of abuse and stupidity. Thank you from me, the DRNV RescueAngels, and of course, beautiful Miss Libby. Remember, NO donation is ever too small and 100% will be applied to Libby's expenses! You can make a tax deductible donation by using the PayPal button on the right or by mailing one in. THANK YOU!! Leslie Michell-Young, Case Manager for Libby. |

Diamond!
|
September, 2015: Please take a look at a "Diamond" in the rough! Diamond is likely about 5 years old DobeLady that was found as a stray in a city park. Her coat is very faded from the sun and she was probably kept outside and used as a breeding machine as she is not spayed and has a HUGE inguinal hernia. But happily, Diamond's luck turned around when a Good Samaritan found her in the park and took her home before contacting rescue. Mary & Bert from Friends of Canines Animal Rescue took her in and placed her in a foster home. This rescue takes in not only adoptable dogs but seniors in need and dogs with medical conditions - they are truly RescueAngels! Anytime an all-breed Rescue takes in one of ours, well, we just can't say NO! Diamond needs to be spayed and her hernia repaired, but unfortunately, she has tested as vWd affected with only a 29% clotting factor. She also has a bad tooth that needs to be pulled, but that will be addressed later. After her diagnosis she was referred to UC Davis due to the magnitude of the hernia. This surgery alone will be approximately $2500, but with the added expense for necessary clotting factor and potential transfusions, this bill will surely increase. According to Diamonds's Foster Mom, Diamond has a lovely disposition, she loves people and is doing very well with the other dogs in the home. Once Diamond's medical issues are resolved, she will be available for adoption. She is a nice and friendly girl who deserves the love and care she hasn't had for the last 5 years. Please find it in your heart to help this lovely red girl and this small rescue! As we always say, NO donation is ever too small and 100% will be applied to Diamond's expenses! You can make a tax deductible donation by using the PayPal button on the right or by mailing one in. We ALL thank you in advance for your support!! Nancy Harwood, Case Manager for Diamond. |

Dylan!
|
August, 2015: At 4 years old, sweet, goofy Dylan was brought into Louisville Metro Animal Services as a stray. The staff doesn't think he was a stray but was turned in/dumped by his owners. To make things worse, this isn't Dylan's first trip through the shelter. Luckily the shelter workers came to our sweet Melissa and told her what a great boy he is. According to Melissa, they weren't wrong - he loves EVERYONE, cats included. Dylan is now a South West Ohio Doberman Rescue dog and can be sure his next home lasts a lifetime. A couple of things stand between him and finding that lucky family - he is heartworm positive, of course. Once he has received his heartworm treatment, he'll go through "the little snip" and be ready for the rest of his happy life! Please consider joining SWODR and SND to make this happen. Please remember no amount is ever too small and it will all go to the dogs!!! You may begin helping Dylan by clicking on the PayPal button to the right, or by mailing one in. Please be assured we at SND sincerely appreciate your continued support of our beloved SNDobies!! Carol Belknap, Case Manager for Mr. Dylan. |

Angus!
|
August, 2015: Special Needs Dobermans now has another case, and we urgently need your help. Thrown outside in the unforgiving heat of Miami, this dear puppy found himself in a high kill shelter. Angus is less than a year old, half starved with a choke chain collar embedded in his neck. Poor baby also is heartworm positive and has a nasty corneal ulcer in his left eye. Most of you are shaking your heads in disgust right now, but our dear little Angus just had heaven smile down on him... he's been pulled by the magic RescueAngels of True and Faithful Rescue Mission and the golden smile of Christina Conley. As I type, he is on his way to Dr. Diaz, where he'll be examined, his little neck unburdened from the chain and begin antibiotics. He will be stabilized, given loads of love, fed to his heart's content, have his eye treated and begin treatment for heartworm as soon as possible. There are so many horrors this baby's endured - any one of them could have killed him, but True and Faithful Rescue Mission has stepped up to the plate and will transform this sweet baby into the magnificent Doberman puppy he is meant to be. SND is now asking for your financial assistance so they can assist Christina and True and Faithful in Angus's long road to the good life. Every cent counts and 100% will be used for his care! Look at this baby's face... please give as much as you can to help SND and True and Faithful Rescue Mission fullfill their promise to Angus! Thank you, as always, for your caring hearts. Make your tax deductible donation by using the PayPal button on the right or by mailing one in. We ALL thank you in advance for your support!! Les Michell-Young, Case Manager for Angus. |

Hugo!
|
UPDATE
July 2015!
An awful lot - and we do mean AWFUL lot has happened to Handsome Hugo
since May! You read his story then and he was kindly taken in by Dog Mountain
Rescue Angels to undergo his heartworm treatment which would have been
exorbitant in southern CA and way beyond the means of DPR. While undergoing
his preliminary treatment, he began exhibiting the troublesome signs of
Wobblers. Alternative therapies like acupuncture and steroids were tried
but poor Hugo was getting worse by the day. DMR's Ann had recently heard
of a new type of Wobblers surgery and decided to give this, so far hapless,
lovable Gentleman a chance to be whole again. As a start-up rescue,
DMR had no reserves with which to fund this surgery which would cost over
$12K after all the testing and surgery. Mr. Hugo has had his very successful
surgery and we have committed to help put this Rescue back in financial
health just as they have done for Hugo! Dr. Filippo Adamo even discounted
his surgical fee in order to see this wonderful Doberman back on his feet!
Thank you Dr. Adamo! PLEASE join us in this great effort that has
saved a Doberman life. Hugo, Ann, DMR and SND thank you so very
much for your help!! There's a larger picture of our Handsome Hugo as
our new Poster Boy - visit him here http://www.doberman911.org/. |

April!
|
July, 2015: Say hello to Miss April! Lucky for her and her sister, Star, to be taken in by the RescueAngels at Second Chance Dobes in Clinton, Michigan - but not so kind to this Rescue's small and very burdened budget to be sure. Miss April at 5 years old came into rescue with her sister Star when their owner died. These two Girls are very, very bonded and have always been beloved pets. Evidently not quite loved enough to be treated to heartworm preventative though... April was found to be heartworm positive and she has been treated and is now negative. Once she was off strict rest, Arda noticed Miss April had a limp and a visit to the orthopedic surgeon confirmed the diagnosis that she needed ACL surgery. Her bills for the heartworm treatment and surgery are well over $3000. Both April and Star already have an adopter that is just waiting to take both girls as soon as April is totally healed. Adoption fees won't even begin to pay for expenses and 2nd Chance needs your help so they can keep giving Dobermans the 2nd Chance they all deserve!! Please help these RescueAngels stay solvent and get these two girls into their well deserved forever home. They don't understand why they have been separated from their owner but thanks to 2nd Chance, they have each other!! So, if you can help them it would be so appreciated, so they can start a new chapter in their lives. No donation is ever too small and 100% will be applied to their bills! You can make a tax deductible donation by using the PayPal button on the right or by mailing one in. We ALL thank you in advance for your support. Nancy Harwood, Case Manager for April. |

Ominous!
|
July, 2015: Meet Mr. Ominous - or rather Omi, as he is called by his friends!! At only three years young, he was surrendered to the RescueAngels at 2nd Chance Doberman Rescue in Michigan where he now has his well-deserved... SECOND CHANCE! Ominous is of European stock and was imported here from Serbia. He has an impressive lineage, but his owners did not know what they were in for with a serious working Doberman. Omi won't be available for adoption when he finally gets a clean bill of health as he does have a sharp temperament and will be a challenge to all but a very experienced Doberman owners - his former people found this out quickly - lucky for Omi! He does love people and he plays great with “his” girls. During his evaluation, Omi started having an “off” gait. He used to be the fastest dog in his pack and suddenly he wasn’t and he was pulling up in turns and had an apparent favoring of one leg. He was promptly taken to see 2nd Chance's Dr. Wright who quickly determined he needed ACL surgery. Dr. Wright said in the 17 years he has been doing this he has never seen an ACL as bad as Omi’s was. Surgery has been done and while his sutures came out last week, he is not putting any weight on that foot and this is very concerning. He's not able to run and be the high energy dog he is so he is pretty depressed for now. He will be started on very short walks this week and will have supervised playdates with his girlie friends - one at a time - and they'll see if this will perk him up. I'm sure being with the ladies will help his mood! Needless to say, Second Chance Dobes has a large bill for Omi's surgery. Arda and the Second Chance Dobermans Angels AND Omi would certainly appreciate your help paying his bills. Won't you be a part of this mission?? You can make a tax deductible donation by using the PayPal button on the right or mailing one in. Thank you so much for your support of these efforts for these Dobermans! Hanz!
|
July, 2015: At 4 years old, Hanz found himself sitting in the middle of the road in Nowhere, North Carolina, waiting for his people to come back. Of course they never did so someone else "saved" him and he was locked in a horse stall. Idiot savior #1's brother-in-law wanted him so he came out of the stall... Unfortunately savior #2 was also an idiot. Hanz was expected to live with another intact male Dobe, see where this is going? Once that idea didn't work, they were both locked in kennels, which worked for a little while - until an intact female got tossed into the mix. Idiot #2 could no longer contain the exuberant Hanz and decided to also keep him chained, in spite of the fact that he and the other male still fought from time to time. One day Idiot #2 came home to find the other male had ripped Hanz' throat open. Lucky for Hanz it was not life threatening, but was bad enough to lose him his "home!" Doberman Assistance Network grabbed him up for transport to Forever Doberman Rescue in Ohio. Teka and Cindy will always make room for one more - no matter how huge his (surprise??) heartworm load. Because, he is very heavily loaded indeed. His heart is enlarged and his lungs are inflamed. That final vicious attack on him may have actually saved his life by bringing him treatment just in time. Let us spare a thought, also, for the male and female he left behind... and their unborn puppies. We may not be able to help them but we can help Hanz! He has already received his first HW treatment, plus the recommended doxycycline and prednisone. Hanz is looking and acting great, even if he is peeing rivers! He needs his 2 more treatments, then he gets a 30 day rest before Mr. One Big Ball becomes Mr. Two strikes and no balls (hopefully the other one isn't hiding too far away). He won't be striking out making a HOME RUN with his new-found friends - including YOU! Cindy says he is the sweetest, kindest, biggest Doberman she has ever seen! If he wasn't a male, he'd be staying with her! Some lucky family will get a gentle giant to love unconditionally, forever, as they all should be loved. Please consider joining FDR and SND in making this happen for Hanz. You may begin to help by clicking on the PayPal button to the right, or by mailing one in. No help is ever too little to help even the big boys! As always, we at SND appreciate your continued support. There could be no SNDobies without you!!! Thank you!! Maizie!
|
June, 2015: At 5 years old Maizie's family left her at a shelter. Their reason was that she was vomiting blood and they couldn't take her to the vet for a diagnosis. Fortunately for her, she was dumped where the Angels at South West Ohio Doberman Rescue would find her! She was not vomiting blood, she was bleeding from her nose and eye. They got her help immediately, of course, and she was found to have a severe (and probably long standing) case of aspergillus. Due to the amount of blood coming out of her nose and eye they opted to have the internist come in on an emergency (weekend) call. To add insult to injury, she is also heartworm positive. A CT scan showed damage but it was deemed safe to go through with the fungal flush procedure. Her nasal septum is very thin but still intact so it was crucial to get the fungus out of there immediately - there were no other options. Maizie came through very well and is back at South West Ohio Doberman Rescue to heal. It might take 2 to 3 weeks to see any improvement, poor girl. She goes back for a nasal scan in 30 days to see whether they need to repeat the procedure. Only when she is fungus free will they be able to begin working on the heartworms, so Maizie has lots of time to be loved up and spoiled. The day will come, though, when she is ready to find her forever home. Won't you please be part of the effort it will take to get her there? Please consider joining South West Ohio Doberman Rescue and SND in helping Maizie. You can begin to help by clicking on the PayPal button to the right, or by mailing one in. Every penny you send will go to this sweet girl and no amount is ever too small to make a difference. As always, we at SND appreciate your on-going support of our SNDobies!!! You can see yet another lovely picture of our latest Cover Girl here http://www.doberman911.org/!! Thank you!! Carol Belknap, Case Manager for Miss Maizie! |

Abbey!
|
June, 2015: Our newest case at Special Needs Doberman is Abbey, a breathtaking senior girl who was surrendered by her former owner due to neglect. Abbey, at age 9, was living in a kennel at a relative's house when she escaped. It is known Abbey's so called "owner" had seen the dog infrequently and it's suspected poor Abbey was procured as a fashion accessory(?) as she was ignored and discarded like an old pair of shoes. When this sweetheart escaped her prison, she ran to the house of a dog lover, who called Ann Koch. Ann has just formed a new rescue - Dog Mountain Rescue of Willits, California - and Ann sprung into action. Ann is well known in the Doberman Community and is very highly regarded for the work she's done saving all kinds of our canine friends. Abbey is not only very smart for finding a dog lover in the willywhacks of northern CA, but finding herself in the loving arms of Ann and Dog Mountain. Abbey has not had any vaccinations for years nor has she had heartworm preventative as she's HW positive. Tests and x-rays are scheduled to discover the severity of her HW infestation. And, if that were not enough, Abbey also has a large, gaping wound on her left foreleg. In spite of her long ordeal, she is amazingly sweet, bright and happy... not to mention gorgeous!! If you're reading this, you and most likely your friends and family, know of the work SND does. Please spread the word about SND and the life saving mission Dog Mountain Rescue is doing. We need you to keep informing more and more people about the importance of educating people that Dobermana and other canines are not disposable! There is compassion in most everyone's heart, and if we as a society can undertake the mission of helping alleviate the neglect and apathy people inflict on innocent, loving dogs it would improve everyone's (not just dog's) lives. Tell your employer. Tell your social media friends, your veterinarian, and those you meet at the dog park. Your help is needed and makes a huge difference. Any donation helps and all donations are needed... just as you are. Every cent will go to rehabilitating this beautiful 9 year old sweetheart. You can start helping now by clicking on the PayPal button to the right (opt for sending money to friends and it will be fee-free!) or you can mail in your tax deductible donation. NO amount is ever too small and each donation is very much appreciated and... 100% will be used for Miss Abbey's expenses. Thank you from gorgeous Abbey and me, Les Michell-Young, Case Manager for Miss Abbey. |

Dora!
|
June, 2015: Sweet Miss Dora was initially a stray that finally found kindness, probably for the first time in her life, when she was rescued from a Los Angeles kill shelter by the RescueAngels of Doberman Pinscher Rescue of Fillmore, California. At that time, poor Dora was in a sad state of health at a presumed age of 5 or 6. Her coat was dry and bleached. She had an upper respiratory infection. Her skin is covered in calluses. And her behavior was consistent with that of a confined 'breeder bitch' as she would circle and circle non stop. Even though Miss Dora is likely only 5-6 years old, one look will tell you that she was bred and bred and then overbred some more. Dora's breeding days were finally over and her spay was scheduled. The spay was uneventful and Dora was discharged from the veterinary hospital, however later that very same evening, Dora's abdomen was distended and she was trying to vomit but was unable to. Experience and wisdom told her foster mother that Dora was bloating! Dora was immediately rushed to the Emergency Clinic for the surgery that ultimately saved her life. Now, we all know how expensive emergency surgery is, especially if it's after hours AND especially if it is in California!! Therefore, SND has come together with DPR to help Dora. You can also help by clicking on the PayPal button to the right (opt for sending money to friends and it will be fee free!) or you can mail in your tax deductible donation. NO amount is ever to small and each donation is deeply appreciated and 100% will be used for Miss Dora's expenses! As always, SND and the rescues thank you from the bottoms of our hearts for your continued generosity. You can also see another lovely picture of our latest Cover Girl here http://www.doberman911.org/!! Beth McCahren, Case Manage for Miss Dora. |

Gigi!
|
June, 2015: They wrote a song about her that's true but it took her a while to realize a happy ending! Well, our Gigi happens to be a sweet dobergirl who ate something that took away that sparkle and fire. Gigi has been one of those complicated diagnostic cases. She first landed in an animal shelter as a stray in fairly rough shape and guestimated to be around 4 years old. They did some things for her and went far and above what most shelter do. She was spayed, had a benign (but ugly) growth removed from her rear end and she had a cherry eye fixed. Gigi had unexplained weight loss, occasional vomiting, a persistant nasal discharge that antibiotics didn't seem to help and the last straw was blood in her urine. Well, turns out Gigi had a foreign object in her stomach. It was a rubber ball and it was causing several medical issues. The doctor believes it had been there for some time so her symptoms were slow to progress because it wasn't a total obstruction. But now that the ball has been removed she is recovering and improving by leaps and bounds! Her prognosis is very good. Not unusually, this all comes at a price and Dobies and Little Paws Rescue in California need your help paying her bills. So, please help us with what you can and we will send thousands of doggy smooches for your generosity. You can make a tax deductible donation by using the PayPal button on the right or your gift can be mailed into help Miss Gigi. No donation is too small and every cent will be used to help her RescueAngels with her expenses! You can also see another lovely picture of our latest Cover Girl here http://www.doberman911.org/!! And this is her song: "Oh Gigi, have I been standing up to close or back too far? Wwhen did your sparkle turn to fire? "Oh what a miracle has made you the way you are" THANK YOU from Miss Gigi, DPR and SND!! Nancy Harwood, Case Manager for Miss Gigi | |
Tommy!
|
June, 2015: No one knows 3 year old Tommy's true story. The first 2 vets who looked at him believe he was attacked by large cats or a bear. He was covered in deep puncture wounds - no area of his body was safe during this attack. He was severely bitten everywhere - his face, neck, jaw, legs, testicles... It is hard to imagine the pain and horror he endured during this attack. Tommy survived, with life-saving attention from The Humane Society of Charlotte and Dr. Judi Vought. He is doing incredibly well, although one of his legs could not be saved and was amputated. Doberman Assistance Network lovingly transported him to Forever Doberman Rescue in Ohio for his long road back to health. Of course these devastating injuries aren't enough for him to overcome, he is also heartworm positive! Teka Clark, Cindy Landis and Tommy's foster-mom Angie Austin are dedicated to helping him heal so he has the chance to be someone's sweet, silly Dober-boy. It will take him some time to heal enough to begin thinking about the heartworms as his wounds are so large and open. Please consider joining FDR and SND in Tommy's battle. You may begin helping Tommy by clicking on the PayPal button to the right or by mailing one in. No amount is ever too small to help this poor sore boy regain his life! Every penny will go to Tommy's care! We at SND are unbelievably grateful for your continued support of our SNDobies!!! Thank you!! Please see another endearing picture of our latest Poster Boy here http://www.doberman911.org/!! Carol Belknap, Case Manager for Tommy. |

Sandy!
|
May, 2015: Beautiful young Sandy (she's estimated to be around 2) found herself at Baldwin Park Animal Control in Los Angeles after being hit by a car on May 7th. Poor Sandy languished there, in pain no doubt, until the stars smiled down on her in the form of Doberman Assistance Network Angels John & Janette alerted DAN's California HQ's Heidi! Sandy was yanked out from under the clouds of euthanasia on her very last day at the Shelter. Heidi got Sandy to their veterinarian and upon x-ray, a acetabular fracture to her left hip was discovered. Sandy is resting comfortably at John and Janette's and is by all accounts, a stellar house guest. However, Sandy needs surgery to repair her poor hip, and DAN has turned to SND for financial assistance for Sandy's upcoming surgery. All of us in the Land of Doberman know of DAN's amazing and life saving work, and Sandy's surgery is going to be expensive - being a California Girl just compounds the expensive part! The good news - actually, the GREAT news - is that Sandy has an excellent prognosis to make a full recovery after FHO surgery and be the beautiful Doberman Miss she was meant to be. Special Needs Dobermans cannot help Dobes like SandyBaby without your help. Please, read more about our organization and donate to our fund to help Sandy. Every cent goes to helping Sandy walk, play and run with abandon once again, and she'll be assured of a fantastic home through the efforts of DAN and the RescueAngels. Please help Sandy now! Just click the PayPal button on the right or your gift can be mailed in. If you use PayPal, log into your account and choose to send money to friends and your donation will be fee free. Please see another charming picture of our latest Cover Girl here http://www.doberman911.org/!! THANK YOU from Sandy, DAN, SND, and me - Leslie Michell-Young, Case Manager for Miss Sandy! |

Stella!
|
May, 2015: Fellow Doberman Lovers! SND has an emergency case that needs your help! Sweet Stella is a 3-4 year old stray found in Chico, California by a Good Samaritan. This lovely lady scooped Stella up and took her home. After being advertised everywhere for a month, no one came forward to claim her. Her rescuer said that Stella was the perfect dog - wonderful with her two children who are 5 & 7 as well as with the family dogs. She really wanted to keep Stella but being practical and afraid she couldn't handle the expense of feeding a large dog and the expense of proper vet care, she surrendered Stella to Dana Johnson, resident RescueAngel at Northern California Doberman Rescue in Red Bluff. Stella arrived in season and once beyond that, she was scheduled for a spay. NorCal was very crowded, as most rescues are. Enter a couple from Oregon visiting CA and looking to adopt after losing their beloved Dobe to cancer. They ideally wanted a smaller female that would be gentle with their grandpa who lived with them. They met all the dogs and offered to foster one. Stella was released on a foster contract with the option to adopt. Just two days into the foster, Stella became very lethargic and her gums were quite pale. Her Foster Family was instructed to take her to the vet. That is when things went downhill for Stella. A sonogram showed a fluid pocket that turned out to be blood. The vet that did Stella's spay was very diligent about her spay as she was very well versed in the propensity of Dobermans to have bleeding issues. It is anyone's guess as to why everything opened up to cause this bleeding, possibly a reaction to the suture material. Now Stella is in a 24-hour ER receiving plasma with a donor dog on site in case more blood is needed. The next 48-72 hours will be very critical for Stella. They need to get her stabilized soon. Obviously this is going to be a very expensive undertaking to save Stella's life. Stella has a very good shot at a forever home with this couple and their 90 year old grandpa, so we need to step up and help Stella and her RescueAngels get her to that happy place! Please help us help them. We appreciate every dime and every cent you donate for Stella will go to Stella's expenses!!! You can make a tax deductible donation by using the PayPal button on the right or mailing in a donation. We thank you and Stella will thank you too. Phoebe!
|
May, 2015: We are all familiar with the allure and magic of puppies... they're endlessly happy, they're engaged and inquisitive and bring sunshine to to all, even when our hearts are breaking. Meet beautiful 9 month old Phoebe, who came into the loving arms of Doberman Rescue of Minnesota and placed in a wonderful foster home in the first week of this month. A few days after her placement, Phoebe began to show signs of lethargy and began to exhibit abdominal distress with vomiting and diarrhea. Her foster family took her to their general veterinarian at Inver Grove Veterinary Hospital, and an intestinal obstruction was suspected and surgery performed. No obstruction was discovered, and she was discharged to her foster home with instructions for supportive therapy. Phoebe began to become ill that same day, and she was referred to the University of Minnesota for more intensive diagnostics. Her belly is filling with fluid and a gastric tube was inserted, but poor dear Phoebe's illness remains a mystery, and there are a number of illnesses are suspected. Her veterinary bills have mounted to well over $2000.00 dollars, and this wonderful puppy continues her stay at the U. of Minnesota Veterinary school. Nothing is sadder than a critical ill baby, biped or quadruped. This baby is fighting for her life and the wonderful Angels of Doberman Rescue of Minnesota are struggling with keeping up with Phoebe's mounting expenses. Please make a contribution to help the warriors of Doberman Rescue of Minnesota pay Phoebe's bills - every cent will go toward her expenses - EVERY cent! With your help, Phoebe will get the best of care and assure that everything will be done to help her. You may begin helping Phoebe now by clicking on the PayPal button to the right, or by mailing one in. No amount is ever too small Thank you for your support!! Tootsie!
|
April, 2015: At just 3 years old, Tootsie was surrendered by her loving family, who claimed she was a cherished, indoor dog. The truth is unspeakably sad. This sweet, velcro girl had never seen grass... or steps - or anything normal at all. In fact, she is so accustomed to being kenneled, she has absolutely no housebreaking whatsoever and will not hesitate to lay or walk in her own waste. She has obviously been kenneled her entire life, literally. Something about her hips wasn't right for breeding - and she supposedly had a bout of pyometra, so her "loving family" dumped her. Lucky for Tootsie, she made her way from the shelter to the Angels at Forever Dobes Rescue, and they are busy getting her ready for a forever home where she really will be a cherished, indoor dog. In fact, no pyometra was found during her spay! However, she has an almost continually running nose. (Lucinda refers to her, quite lovingly, as Schnotsie.) She has a deviated septum, which needs to be seen by a specialist. She has already gone through several courses of antibiotics and treatments. Nothing has helped. So, although she has now learned to run on the grass and manage the steps, the mucus still flows! Please join FDR and SND is helping Tootsie dry her tears and find her family! You can begin helping Tootsie by clicking on the PayPal button to the right and declaring it a gift to family or friends from your Paypal account. You may also mail one in. Please remember no help is ever too small and that we at SND appreciate your support of our SNDobies!! Thank you!! Visit our latest Cover Girl here http://www.doberman911.org/!! Brooke!
|
April, 2015: When sweet Brooke was about 5, her breeding life was done and she had developed a mammary growth... So her owners dumped her. Not a new story, right? Wrong! This was out of a moving car, onto a busy road. Literally, they dumped this poor girl... polite words fail me. Luckily a mother and daughter witnessed the horror and got to her before she was hit by traffic. She was completely terrified, but safe! The women would have loved to keep such a sweet girl but knew they could never afford her medical care and so she came to the wonderful dobie world of South West Ohio Doberman Rescue. Toni West and her Rescue Angels are getting this baby-machine ready for a life as a valued, loved family member - exactly where she should be! Fortunately she is, miracle of miracles, heartworm negative!!! Unfortunately, she had a mammary growth but it has been removed and is being biopsied now. The vet feels it could well be cancer but she has a clear lung X-ray so we're all keeping fingers and paws crossed for her! Please consider joining SWODR and SND in our efforts to prove someone cares enough to take care of her. You may begin helping Brooke now by clicking on the PayPal button to the right, or by mailing one in. No amount of help is ever too small and every penny will go to the dogs! As always, we at SND appreciate your continued support of our Rescuers AND all the SNDobies!! Thank you!! Carol Belknap, Case Manager for Brooke. |

Frankie!
|
April, 2015: Sweet, shy Frankie is 3 years old and until now has never lived indoors, so, when his owner went to prison and he was sent to a shelter that should have been an improvement. Unfortunately the Kentucky shelter Frankie and his mother, Fiera went into had no heat. They provided the dogs, already in bad shape, with a little space heater and frantically contacted rescue. South West Ohio Doberman Rescue rushed to get them, but despite great attention by the caring vets at All Creatures Animal Hospital, Fiera did not survive. Frankie watched his mother die and then had no one and nothing in the world except the loving arms of SWODR Angels. In Fiera's honor they are striving to help baby Frankie find something they never had - love. This dear boy is scared and sad; he just sits with his head down waiting for life's next blow to fall. There is a Doberman spark in there though... the occasional tail wag or gentle kiss. He is, and will continue to, come out of his shell in this loving environment. He has been really liking his winter coat - even if it is pink!! It keeps him all snuggly warm and comfy, so what if pink is the only one that fits him? Frankie is (no surprise) heartworm positive. Once he has gotten rid of the worms (and his testicles), he'll be looking for a home to give him everything he's never had but has always deserved. Sweet Melissa says he is already a very popular boy! Please join SWODR and SND in Frankie's battle! Your help will show him people do love him... You can begin helping Frankie by clicking on the PayPal button to the right, or by mailing one in. No amount of help is ever too small for these poor babies and every penny of it will go to them!! As always, we at SND appreciate your continued support of our SNDobies!! Thank you!! Carol Belknap, Case Manager for Frankie. |

Zander!
|
April,
2015:
Poor
Mr. Zander (AKA Mr. Bubbles) can't catch a break!! The good news is that
he just finished the last of his heartworm treatment which means a long
confinement but the real problem is that he is still fighting a poorly
controlled issue in his leg. He did have a deep puncture wound which
was swollen and treated but that wound has never truly healed in spite
of his treatments. His vet team will now do a deeper exploratory of the
wound which will include biopsy - best case is that they find a foreign
object or something causing the constant irritation. SND has signed
on to help Zander through this and we hope you will too!! His Fosters
say he is the sweetest boy one could imagine and worth every lick of effort
he's had - WE AGREE!! |

Caesar!
|
March
13 , 2015:
Tragedy
has stricken our beautiful Caesar for the last time in his shortened life.
A second pathology report and a subsequent scan showed that deeper underlying
cells were actually a fast-growing and invasive cancer which had already
invaded his brain and sinus cavities. Words cannot begin to express
our deep sadness but also a feeling of outrage at what was allowed to
happen to him that brought him to this point. In spite of the cruelty
of this situation, it has been very gratifying to have received the outpouring
of love and support that he garnered from all around the world.
Caesar was released today amidst that love and with the gentleness of
those who took him under the wings - they kept their promise to him with
the respect and love they gave him during the last month of his life.
We will be ever grateful to Caesar's Angels... Hail Caesar, rest in peace
in Sirius' Garden in the Night Sky - another supernova marks his entry
there, forever to twinkle down upon all of us who showed him love... HAIL
CAESAR!!

Morgan!
|
February, 2015: Morgan is a sweet senior Doberlady of 7 or 8 years who was dumped at a shelter by her owner and then rescued by Cullen's Archangel RescuE (CARE). Morgan has been in rescue for around 8 months now, being fostered by Ava Collingwood from CARE in SC. Morgan had a mass on her flank which is histocytic disease and/or cancer. The punch biopsy shows hystiocytoma and she needed the mass removed for further pathology. She is also dealing with recurrent skin and ear infections which could be allergy or auto immune disease. The vet has recommended additional biopsies from lymph nodes, skin, liver and spleen. Surgery for the mass was done on February 21 and Morgan is recuperating and in good spirits. This has all been a very expensive endeavor for CARE, a rescue which has been struggling for the past 2 years to keep funds coming in. As we all know very few rescues are easy ones and the medical bills are ever increasing. Hopefully between fund raising, SND and other donations, Morgan can get the help she needs and maybe even a forever home. We cannot save these babies without you, so please help Morgan if you can by making a tax deductible donation. You can start helping Miss Morgan now by making a tax deductible donation by using the PayPal button on the right (opt for sending money to friends and it will be fee-free) or by mailing in your donation. As always, 100% of what you give will be used to help this dear Lady!! Miss Morgan, her RescueAngels at CARE and we at SND thank you for your support!! Nancy Harwood, Case Manager for Miss Morgan. |

Zara!
|
February, 2015: Zara is a beautiful Senior girl that's just been rescued by the Getters - RescueAngels of Doberman Rescue of Nevada. Zara found herself living in an inoperable car behind a bar with a woman who is apparently a meth addict, illiterate and has some very serious issues with reality. One of the things John was told by the woman is that Zara "shakes a lot and has a problem eating" (hey, lady, it's February, it's cold and the poor dog's teeth are a disaster!!). Apparently, this woman didn't even have an accurate handle on Zara's age, because last year she was vetted for her spay, and her year of birth was listed as 2005. DNRV's vet states that Zara is most likely around 8 years old. This girl is beautiful, but her teeth are a train wreck, and she's most likely hypothyroid. She has a delightful personality and is so very grateful for a warm, clean bed and some quality groceries. DRNV has asked SND to assist with Zara's extensive dental troubles and thyroid assessment, and how can anyone say no to this beautiful, sweet senior? DNRV has saved so many Dobermans from horrible circumstances, and as with many non-profits, they cannot continue saving lives without donations and sometimes with assistance from SND. Please hug your Senior Doberman and think about Zara - and all the other Senior Dobermans like her and donate to SND to help this gorgeous girl. Every last cent counts, and Zara will have a happy, warm and wonderful future. She will soon have her own spot on the Senior Doberman Project page which we will link here shortly. For now, she will be our Senior Poster Lady and you can see her here http://www.doberman911.org. Wouldn't it be great to find her a Sponsor while she waits for her Forever Family? You can start helping Miss Zara by making a tax deductible donation by using the PayPal button on the right (opt for sending money to friends and it will be fee-free) or by mailing in your donation. As always, 100% of what you give will be used to help this dear Lady!! Miss Zara, her RescueAngels at DRNV and we at SND thank you for your support!! You can also visit and be a Sponsor for Miss Zara at http://www.doberman911.org/seniors/cases/index.html. Les Michell-Young, Case Manager for Miss Zara. |

Wendell!
|
February, 2015: Please stop and take a look at Wendell who is guestimated to be about 4 years old. Unfortunately, we have very little background info on Wendell as he was a stray from an animal shelter - but, being a sucker for these red boys, Dobies and Little Paws in California grabbed him as soon as they knew he was in danger. First they thought Wendell had a fungal infection around the nail bed of a toe because of hair loss and a strange appearance of the surrounding skin. But after treatment, the swelling remained even though the hair grew back. He did not seem to be in pain, but we all know how stoic these Dobermans can be! So his RescueAngels decided to take an x-ray and lo and behold, Wendell has a broken toe which was the problem all along. His back also has some sort of deformity and he often stands in a horseshoe shape - fortunately, x-rays show no serious problem and this does not hinder him at all. He has a wonderful, loving personality and gets along fine with other dogs although he can be a little dominant. He is great at the vet, very calm and falls asleep in the waiting room. Once he gets a clean bill of health he will be looking for a forever home... Hello all of you red boy lovers!!! As the first order of business, DLP (aka Doberman Pinscher Rescue) needs help with his surgery bill, which will be performed next week (2/25/15) - unfortunately, amputation of the toe apparently is the only option. So, please help Wendell get to his forever home by donating a little or a lot to help him on his journey! You can make a tax deductible donation by using the PayPal button on the right (opt for sending money to friends and it will be fee-free) or by mailing in your donation. As always, 100% of what you give will be used to help Wendell!! Wendell, Dobies and Little Paws and SND thank you!! Nancy Harwood, Case Manager for Mr. Wendell. |

Sally!
|
February, 2015: Sally is somewhere in her senior years, 7 at least. She also appears to have been tri-pawed from birth - the tarsals of her right foot are missing just past the heel. No intervention is contemplated as this deformity is likely congenital and she does very well using it as a pivot point for balance. Unfortunately, her owner died, leaving her (and 2 other dogs) locked in the backyard. When someone came to clean out the house, the dogs were found. Sally, being Doberman, wound up with our sweet Melissa, so Sally is now a member of the South West Ohio Doberman Rescue Angels family! She's a happy girl who LOVES being a couch potato. Melissa says she evens tries to pull the old "You wouldn't make the poor old crippled dog move would you?" She's great with dogs, cats and comfy chairs and she'd definitely make an excellent companion for someone looking for a quiet girl with whom to hang out! Unfortunately, there are a few little obstacles in her road to being forever comfy - she is heartworm positive. South West Ohio Doberman Rescue and SND are fighting the worm war again, will you help? You can begin to help sweet Sally by clicking on the PayPal button to the right (opt for sending money to friends and it will be fee-free), or by mailing your donation in. Please remember, no gift is ever too small and every penny helps! As always, we at SND sincerely appreciate your continued support of our SNDobies!! Thank You!!! You can also visit and be a Sponsor for Sally at http://www.doberman911.org/seniors/cases/index.html. Carol Belknap, Case Manager for Miss Sally. |

Sasha!
|
February, 2015: At 7 years young, Sasha almost had a home through the shelter who first found her as a stray. I say almost because those damn worms reared their ugly heads and the people backed out. Their loss, right? Who doesn't benefit from a Senior girl in the house? Sasha was lucky enough to wind up in the loving care of South West Ohio Doberman Rescue. Toni, Melissa and all the other angels have her safe and will make her sound too! Sasha doesn't know she's HW+, or that she has some bad teeth - she just knows she's your best friend. There are no strangers in her world! She even let Melissa's cats call the shots! She will make someone's home a better place - but first she needs to lose the worms and a few teeth! It seems like I'm always asking the Doberman community to help kill yet more heartworms, but it is a war that simply must be waged, even if it's never won beyond each battle. Please join SWODR and SND in another important battle - saving one more Doberman! You may begin helping now - no donation is ever too small and 100% of your donation will help this Senior Lady! Please click on the PayPal tab to the right (opt for sending money to friends and it will be fee-free), or by mailing your donation in. Thank you so much for caring!! Also, remember to share the SND Dobermans on your social media and Facebook too! As always, we at SND humbly appreciate you continued support of our SNDobies!! Thank you!! You can also visit Miss Sasha who is also seeking a Sponsor here http://www.doberman911.org/seniors/cases/index.html. Carol Belknap, Case Manager for Miss Sasha!! |

Sampson!
|
January, 2015: Greetings doberman lovers. Imagine this scenario: You buy a well bred doberman puppy from a well known breeder and allow him to jump off a very high deck at around age 1 1/2 and rupture both ACL's and never do anything about it! Then after another four or five years you realize there is something else going on with him and instead of getting him help you dump him at a shelter along with his registration papers and tell them you can't afford his health issues!!! Well folks imagine no longer, this really happened to a very sweet, gentle boy named Sampson. But fortunately for Sampson, this time he has landed in the soft angel wings of Doberman Rescue of Minnesota. At this point there probably isn't much that can be done for his knees but he does need surgery for the disk in his neck. He has had an MRI and the surgery could be between $2000 - $4000 depending on how extensive it is. He is only six years old and the most gentle, sweet gentleman there is, he loves everyone and everything. He is truly worth the effort and expense as any doberman in this situation would be. But, the DRM Angels and SND can't do this without help, your help! So, please help us with a large or small donation and crosspost this to all your family, friends, neighbors, Pinterest, Twitter, Facebook and whatever other social media you use and we thank you ahead of time for your love of dobermans and your unselfish generosity! You can start now by making a tax deductible donation by using the PayPal button on the right or by mailing in your donation. Be assured that 100% of any donation made will be used for Sampson's expenses - LETS SAVE THIS BOY and make him the strong Sampson he is meant to be!!!! Visit him on our home page http://www.doberman911.org/ - he's another PosterDude!! THANK YOU!! Nancy Harwood, Case Manager for Sampson. |

Isabella!
|
January, 2015: Let's call it "No Worm Left Alive!" Yup, another heartworm positive girl from down south. This sweet and fiery red 2 year old lady made her way to Toni, Melissa and all the wonderful Angels of Southwest Ohio Doberman Rescue and safety. She was left at a shelter with her 7 month old son. Once she was safely in their arms they were told, "Oh, yeah, she's HW+..." Not that it would have mattered to these angels, they never turn a Dobe away! Isabella is so very sweet, always ready with a kiss! Melissa says she has a little fire to her too! SWODR has asked SND to help with another heartworm case. This is a battle we must never give up or take too lightly, as it is so common in the south and other areas but becoming prevalent all over the country - even in regions like California where they have not had a problem. Please help Isabella get ready for the rest of her life! You can start helping now! Please click on the PayPal tab to the right (opt for sending money to friends and it will be fee-free), or by mailing your donation in. As always, we at SND appreciate your continued support of our SNDobies! Thank you so much for caring!! Also, remember to share the SND Dobermans on your social media and Facebook too! She may send another picture when she wakes up from her beauty nap!! Carol Belknap, Case Manager for Queen Isabella!! |

Bear!
|
January, 2015: Just look at this face!! This little beauty is Bear. At only 8 months old, still just a baby, she has already been rescued twice!! With no known history, she first found herself in a southern California shelter. Bear was spayed followed by a prompt adoption. But after only two months, her 'forever' family returned her to the shelter complaining she had excessive urination and incontinence. Her adopters did have blood work done, which didn't point to a diagnosis, so instead of seeking a second opinion they opted to return her to the shelter!! Bad news for baby Bear - in the short run!! Luckily, good news came by baby Bear in the form of... the RescueAngels of Doberman Pinscher Rescue in Fillmore, CA became aware of her before anything 'drastic' happened. DPR's vet performed an ultrasound which revealed an enlarged kidney - enlarged because it was doing the work of two - the other was congenitally small and nonfunctional. That result led to a prescribed medication and a renal diet. While sonograms are costly, it was medically needed for Bear and DPR wasn't going to deny her the opportunity to be properly diagnosed so she will be able to go on to lead a normal life. DPR has had a flood of newly rescued Dobies with medical issues and have come to SND to request assistance for these castaway innocents. Therefore, SND is reaching out to you, our faithful supporters, to help us assist DPR. It's your donations alone that make SND viable! No gift is ever too small and every cent goes to the Dobes. Please click on the PayPal tab to the right (opt for sending money to friends and it will be fee-free), or by mailing one in. Also, please remember to share the SND Dobes on your social medias and Facebook! Thank you all for your caring and donations. Beth McCahren, Case Manager for Miss Bear. |

Zander!
|
January, 2015: Zander (AKA Mr. Bubbles) was a 5 year old stray in rural Kentucky. He went from a shelter to a rescue to the arms of our sweet Melissa and the loving Angels of Southwest Ohio Doberman Rescue, and he couldn't be in a better place! Although Melissa is calling him Zander, his first rescuers named him Mr. Bubbles. Melissa admits he acts like a Bubbles sometimes - though she did think he needed a Bubbles Bath... :) and though Mr. Stinky would be more fitting! He's very affectionate and loves people. He LOVES lap-time and will make someone a wonderful lap blanket someday soon! It will come with a cost though - he is heartworm positive. I believe no Dobe should be left behind and that means getting this boy healthy and into a wonderful forever home! Won't you join SWODR and SND in yet another heartworm battle? It won't cost as much as the highway robbery going on in southern California - and you can BET on that!! You can begin helping Zander - whose name is a variation of Alexander The Great... by clicking on the PayPal button to the right (opt for sending money to friends and it will be fee free), or by mailing one in. Please remember every penny you send will help and no amount is ever too small. As always, we at SND appreciate your continued support of our SNDobies! Thank you! Carol Belknap, Case Manager for Zander The Great!! |

Vito!
|
January, 2015: This handsome, rambunctious 4-year old fellow is Vito, and he has stolen the hearts of the angels of Doberman Pinscher Rescue located in Fillmore, CA - and we hope yours and a ForeverFamily's too! The fact that Vito is off the streets and now in the loving hands of DPR is the good news. However, there is bad news as well, and the bad news is Vito is heart worm positive and will require drawn out and very expensive medical treatment to save him. Even though treatment to prevent heart worm is inexpensive, no one cared enough about Vito to bother to keep his heart clear of the deadly worms. Heartworm treatment is not common in Southern California so vets have little experience in treatment protocols. DPR's usually very kind and reasonable vets have decided to get an education on the backs of TWO Dobermans from DPR. Here's the sad joke - even for this locale: $2500 per Dobe, discounted from $3500!! REALLY??? We've just helped with spinal surgery that cost that - not in southern CA... butt, come oooon!! National average price is $600-700. Even knowing the expenses that lie ahead, the angels of DPR couldn't say no to saving this sweetie's life - and that of Miss Meghan (see her below). The angels of DPR aren't about to turn their backs on Vito, and they are bound and determined for Vito to become totally healthy again. Currently, DPR has many Dobes in need of medical care and have come to SND for any assistance we can provide to help defray the costs of treating Vito. You can make a tax deductible donation by clicking on the PayPal button to the right (opt for sending money to friends and it will be fee free), or by mailing one in. Remember, no donation is ever to small! As always, we ask that you please cross post and share the SND Dobes on your social media. Thank you so from SND, DPR and Vivacious Vito for your continued support. We can't do it without you!!! Beth McCahren, Case Manager for Vito. |

Meghan!
|
January, 2015: Once again, the angels of Doberman Pinscher Rescue of Fillmore, CA have stepped up to the plate by taking Meghan, yet another unwanted Dobe, into their care. Meghan is a sweet 3-year old, calm girl who is confused as to how she ended up homeless but is very grateful to now have a soft bed, warm surroundings, a full belly and daily love from her rescuers. Unfortunately, as we so often see in many areas of the country, Meg is heartworm positive and will require drawn out and very expensive medical treatment to save her. Even knowing the expenses that lie ahead, the angels of DPR couldn't say no to saving this sweetie's life - and that of Vito (see him above). DPR depends solely on donations for those in their care, and has asked SND for assistance in defraying the cost of Meghan's treatments. Please, won't you send a donation of any amount to help with the life-saving treatments Meghan needs. No amount is ever to small as every penny adds up! You can make a tax deductible donation for Meg by using the PayPal button on the right (opt for sending money to friends and it will be fee free), or by mailing one in. You can also help by cross posting and sharing on your social media with family and friends. Thank you so much from SND, DPR and of course, sweet Meghan, for your continued support. Beth McCahren, Case Manager for Meghan. |

Whitney!
|
January, 2015: Whitney is 5 years old and needs a Femoral Head Osteotomy. Thanks to Toni West, Melissa and all the caring Angels of South West Ohio Doberman Rescue, she is finally going to get her much needed surgery. Now, Whitney's story might end there but, of course, it doesn't. She was BORN with the deformed hip that causes her endless, needless pain. Her first owner was a VET TECH who did NOTHING to help her. When this "kind" person re-homed her she told the new owner she was fine and didn't have any issues. Two years ago the owner got an estimate for the surgery to help her - but opted not to have it done. Supposedly she was quoted $3000. Who knows if she just didn't have any money, or if the vet was just another rip-off artist? Regardless, Whitney suffered on. Last September the owner contacted SWODR, but waited until NOW to actually surrender this poor, sweet girl. This poor girl is in horrible pain on that side and sometimes can not get up alone. In spite of this, she is a super happy girl who loved all the attention she got at her visit to All Creatures Animal Hospital - and that in spite of all the needles involved! She even enjoyed her manicure! Whitney loves people, animals - you name it! She will make someone a wonderful, loving companion once this is all behind her. Whitney requires the FHO since it is felt her bones don't have enough integrity for a hip replacement. She is vWd positive so her surgery will be done with extra care! She has also gone from 55 lbs a couple years ago to a full-figured 85 lbs. This is definitely not good for her hip and SWODR is still waiting on her T4 results. Sweet Melissa and South West Ohio Doberman Rescue have asked SND for help with this girl... and now I'm asking the great Doberman community to help end her suffering. Well-meaning(?) idiots have let her suffer this long, let's be the people who do right by her! You can begin helping Whitney by clicking on the PayPal button to the right (opt for sending money to friends and it will be fee free), or by mailing one in. Please remember every penny goes directly to the dogs - in this case, Wonderful Whitney!! Please consider helping yet another Dobe in Distress! And, as always, we at SND appreciate your continued support of our beloved SNDobies!! Thank you!! Carol Belknap, Case Manager for Whitney. |

Special Needs Dobermans is a nonprofit 501(3)(c) corporation. We are able to help Dobermans and their families thanks to the generosity of people like you. Your donation to SND is tax deductible. All money donated on behalf of the Dobermans, every cent, goes towards their care. The SND General Fund is used to get new Dobes that come our way some initial assistance. Donations made to this fund ensure that we'll always be able to help, now and in the future. Please consider making a contribution to the General Fund by using the PayPal Donation link below or by mailing in a donation. Thank you very much for helping us help Dobes in need! |
