Welcome to doberman911.org, the website for Special Needs Dobermans (SND). We are an organization of people with a common goal of helping senior and special needs Dobermans. That need may be financial or it may be only information and/or moral support for the owner of a Doberman with a serious illness or injury. We will also aid in rehoming and fostering senior Dobermans. These Dobermans may be shelter rescues or they may already be much loved companions with a special need. Financial aid may be through donations or through avenues such as online auctions. Every precaution will be taken to assure that the need is real.

HELP ME

Give me the ugly dog with one eye, three legs,
and help me show that they're more than just a form and a face.
Give me the scarred dog, burned and slashed with hate,
and help me lead it away from that terrible fate.
Give me the deaf and blind dog, and help me show it the way
in the silence and dark of each of their days.
Give me the shutdown dog, depressed of mind,
and help me cherish their soul until their fears unwind.
Give me the old dog, bent and broken with age,
and help me fill their last days with an unending grace.
Give me the ugly dog, I'll leave the pretty one for you,
and help me show them they're worthy of love and joy, too.

Meet The SNDobes Helped With General Funds!!

These Special Needs Dobermans were helped with one-time grants from our most important fund, the General Fund.  This fund is used to help Dobermans fortunate enough to find themselves in Rescue Groups.  Assistance is only provided for extraordinary expenses.  These grants can be augmented by your generous contributions to any of these precious Dobes!! Private owners will be provided the necessary information to help them fundraise for their own Dobes as well as being given information to reduce their costs for medications and ways to seek additional information about Doberman illnesses.

Skylar!

December, 2014: Here's Mr. Skylar once again and he needs our help!  When Skylar has his first eye surgery last August, it was observed that the dermoid cyst on his eye was quite deep and that it might take a second surgery to remove it completely. It became apparent that the surgeon's fears did in fact occur! Having come this far neither his own RescueAngels at DPR nor we could let his condition get worse, more complicated and likely lead to blindness - We hope you will agree and help us pay for his treatment!  We are auctioning a Doberman Circle of Friends to help with his expenses - His auction ends in 6 more days, so please visit http://www.ebay.com/sch/doberman911org/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg= and bid generously!  THANK YOU for becoming a part of Mr. Skylar's Circle of Friends!!
August, 2014
: Hello everyone, SND has a new boy to worry about - Master Skylar, a sweet 1 year old who was a shelter rescue that should have been an easy placement because he is young, adorable and very social!  So, you might ask: "Why was he DUMPED?"  Unfortunately a few days after his rescue by his new Angels at Doberman Pinscher Rescue, a strange growth was noticed on his eye. Probably there from birth, as it is skin and hair cells that lost their way as this guy was developing in his mothers womb. It is a dermoid cyst. The problem is now that it needs surgical removal and this surgery is not only very delicate, it is also expensive. They won't know the depth of the growth until they get in there to look at it and there is always the possibility the cornea could collapse. Once the growth is removed it should not return and this in no way affects his daily life. So, we need everyones help to help his RescueAngels in Fillmore, California and Skylar to get this surgery. The cost is never insignificant and for a struggling rescue it is a lot of money. But, such a simple fix should not keep this boy from his forever home. Please if you can help us monetarily so Skylar can get a home, he and DPR and SND woulld be much obliged!! You can make a tax deductible donation by using PayPal or
mailing in a donation - we all thank YOU in advance for caring about these precious Dobermans. No amount is ever too small and is VERY appreciated by Master Skylar, DPR and SND too. As always, we all thank you for your continued
support of these Special, very Special Needs Dobermans!! THANK YOU!!

Susie!

October, 2014: Invite your eyes to feast themselves on Susie, a gorgeous puppy who's only 14 months old. Susie was found wandering the streets in Devore, California - alone, afraid, and covered in those awful blood sucking ticks! Animal control picked her up and she was taken to the area animal shelter. But once at the shelter, with all of the new odors, all of the confusion, the constant barking and not knowing what was going to happen next, Susie was even more scared. She was actually paralyzed with fear. She stayed in a corner of her enclosure, unable to move to even eat or drink. Susie was giving up - she was shutting down. This precious little girl was definitely going to be heading to the EU (euthanasia) room. Local California rescues were at capacity as always but compassion and love of Dobermans knows no bounds!  Thank heavens the angels of Doberman Rescue of Nevada were able to swoop in and wrap their wings around Susie before her life was taken from her. She literally had to be carried out of the shelter to go to DRNV rescue. We are happy to report Susie is finally feeling more confident and is even beginning to do 'the lean' as her RescueAngels tell us! As a requirement of the animal shelter and DRNV, all dogs need to be altered before adoption, so off Susie went to the vet for her surgery. To rule out any unforeseen problems, a test to check her clotting factor was done and unfortunately, Susie's blood does not clot as it should. She was tested for vWd which showed that only 12% factor was present in her blood at the time. This means her spay will be delicate, time consuming and anything but routine and requires preparation for bleeding crises. Therefore, DRNV has asked SND if we can assist with Susie's surgery expenses. We could NOT refuse so, won't you please help DRNV and SND help Susie? You can click on the PayPal button on the right to make your tax deductible donaton or your can even mail your donation in. Any amount is always appreciated, no amount is ever too small and each and every cent goes to the Dobes! Please remember to share our SND Dobes on FB and with your friends and family. The more exposure the Dobes get, hopefully the more donations they will receive. As always, thank you so much for your ongoing support of SND and the rescues who save so many helpless Dobermans! Miss Susie is our new Poster Girlie and you can visit her here http://www.doberman911.org. We all thank you for your continued support of these very Special Needs Dobermans!! THANK YOU!! Beth McCahren, Case Manager for Susie.

Charlie Brown!

October, 2014: Sweet, goofy, 3 year old Charlie Brown was turned into a shelter with his girlfriend, Sabrina, a cute little white dober-girl. No reason given... but I'm sure you can fill in the blanks - we've heard it all before. Doberman Pinscher Rescue of Fillmore, California agreed to take in these two, even though they're filled to the brim. The problem started when they went to pick them up. Sabrina was spayed and had no problem at all. Poor Charlie Brown didn't fair so well with his neuter. He was very swollen, bruised and bleeding with a huge hematoma and, as you can imagine, he was extremely miserable. DPR would have to take him on a health waiver, if they wanted him. Of course the answer was YES and off he went to their vet. Under the care of Dr. Jaime Velasco of Bear Valley Animal Hospital, and after a really rough start, Charlie is doing fantastic! His appetite is back and he has been re-united with Sabrina. They are the sweetest pair! Please join SND and DPR in helping with this boy's few medical bills! Come on guys, you gotta feel for him, right? As always, 100% of your donation would go to the dogs! Please begin helping Charlie by clicking on the PayPal button to the right or by mailing in your donation. If you use PayPal, sign into your account and "Send Money" to a friend - if you do, all fees are waived! Even more will go to the dogs! Remember, no amount is ever too small, and, as always, we at SND appreciate your continued support of our SNDobies!! THANK YOU!! Carol Belknap, Case Manager for Charlie Brown.

Rosie!

October, 2014: Every so often here at SND, we get a case that truly breaks one's heart, and Rosie is an example of such a case. Rosie was discovered in the "ill room" at a Miami Dade Shelter with a limp and you can probably guess what her next room was to be. Then in comes Rosie's Angel in the person of the head of a wonderful all-breed Rescue who was at the shelter to pull dogs and discovered Miss Lucy, who graced her with her "free" name, Rosie. Christina Conley of True and Faithful Rescue Mission has been a Doberman lover for life and simply could not leave the dear 8 year old there, so Rosie joined the freedom ride to their veterinarian to get an x-ray of her right shoulder. That fateful x-ray showed advanced osteosarcoma, bone cancer. Christina discussed treatments with her respected veterinarian. Sadly, the malignancy has already spread to Rosie's lungs, as she is already coughing. They did discuss amputation, however, there is little chance of this being of any benefit for Rosie, as it is a painful procedure and her malignancy has advanced to the point that the recovery time would be longer than Rosie will live - which the vet estimates is 2-3 months at the longest. Therefore, Christina and her veterinarian have decided to give Rosie palliative care - in Christina's home - so Rosie will be happy and comfortable without surgery or other invasive procedures such as chemo. Having just recently lost three beloved dogs to inoperable cancer, I can attest to the value of kind, gentle hospice care for our friends. Christina has asked SND for financial assistance so Rosie can be happy and comfortable for the time she has left. Please, help this wonderful lady help Rosie live the rest of her limited days in comfort and happiness. We applaud Christina and thank her for her compassion for this dear Dobergirl - and for all the dogs she has helped. Please donate and help Rosie and Christina.  When an all-breed rescue helps one of our beloved breed, how can we say no?   We can't and we hope you can't either! You can make your tax deductible donation for Miss Rosie by using the PayPal button on the right or mailing in your donation. Keeping our General Fund afloat makes it possible to begin assisting Dobermans like Miss Rosie! As always, please cross post, and share on your social media with your family and friends! Help US help THEM!!  Spread the word! THANK YOU!! Les Michell-Young, Case Manager for Rosie.

Harrah!

October, 2014: Harrah is a beautiful, confused, and sad nine year old Lady who needs our help for a new and healthier life. This dober lady was found draped over her owner's body. There's no real estimate of time she remained this way as she conducted her vigil. Her owner's family wanted nothing to do with her because their mother, Harrah's Mom, loved Harrah more than them... there was probably a very good reason for that given their behavior at cherishing their own mother's memory by taking care of the creature their mother apparently loved so dearly. How wonderful to have a creature like Harrah to protect us, even in death! These family members certainly wouldn't deserve it.  It is likely that Harrah's Mom had been unable to properly care for her completely and likely got NO help from anyone to see to Harrah's needs.  How can sentient beings be jealous of such loyalty and love - likely because they have neither capability for it.  Harrah's teeth are in terrible shape and she also has an old injury in one rear leg that needs to be x-rayed. Harrah is now in the capable hands of SADAR in Texas who report they have never seen teeth in that bad a condition.  They are also telling us that Harrah is a sweet, wonderful loving lady who was a favorite at the shelter, but was condemned to die because she growled at the people who found her protecting her owner's body  - that  and due to the fact that she could only be released to a rescue. Thank goodness they found SADAR, it would have been a horrible injustice to reward her loyalty with death. Please help SND and SADAR to get this girlie up and running toward a new, loving home. Anything you can do to help will be much appreciated. You can make a tax deductible donation for Miss Harrah by using the PayPal button on the right or mailing in your donation.   Keeping our General Fund afloat makes it possible to begin assisting Dobermans like Miss Harrah! As always, please cross post, and share on your social media with your family and friends! Help US help THEM!!  THANK YOU!! Nancy Harwood, Case Manager for Harrah.

Jingles!

October, 2014: We are so saddened to report that Mr. Jingles succumbed to a massive infection resulting from an instestinal blockage.  He had come so far and was so loved - even by his vets who were applying for his adoption when this tragedy occurred...  He was loved and he will be missed - Rest In Peace dear one...
September, 2014:Jingles is only 7 years old but sadly, he's lived a hard life. He was discovered in a KY shelter in an extremely emaciated condition - to the point he wouldn't or couldn't even eat. It's a long, tricky road to bring an animal that emaciated back to health, if it can be done at all, but the RescueAngels of A Pinsch of Heaven Doberman Rescue in Tennessee did just that! As if all that wasn't enough to survive, Jingles has been diagnosed with spondylosis in his neck and arthritis in his hips because of his former life and is being treated for both at the University of TN vet school. But even that's not where it ends! Jingles was outside just to potty, and even with being supervised by his foster, he managed to be bitten on the foot by a copperhead!! A large area of flesh quickly became necrotic and had to be surgically removed. He will need therapy when he's recovered a bit to keep the foot and leg mobile. This poor boy hasn't been able to catch a break, but APHDR isn't going to give up on this fellow!! They are committed to pursue whatever is necessary to heal him inside and out and then find him the perfect furever home. Jingles' medical bills are adding up fast. With several of their rescues needing medical care at this time, APHDR has asked SND if we can assist them in their financial need. Won't you please click on the links below to make a donation for this brave boy? Every donation is appreciated, no matter the amount. Donations are tax deductible and every cent goes to the rescues. Thank you ever so much for supporting SND and the rescues who need us. You can make a tax deductible donation by using the PayPal on the right or by mailing in a donation for Jingles! He's our new Poster Dude and you can visit him here http://www.doberman911.org and he has his own Seniors page for a sponsorship here http://www.doberman911.org/seniors/cases/tn_jingles.html. Maxamus!

September, 2014: Introducing to you Maxamus! This darling fellow is a 7 year old Dobergent with just the sweetest face ever! He had lived his entire 7 years on a chain, devoid of human contact and even basic creature comforts, until his owner was forced to relinquish him. When Tennessee's A Pinsch of Heaven Doberman Rescue received news of Maxamus' sub-standard living conditions and poor physical shape they wasted no time in going to the rescue. What they discovered was a suffering dog who was missing huge patches of hair from flea dermatitis and a related skin infection, emaciated with bottom canine teeth ground down to the exposed nerve, and, to no surprise, he was still intact and diagnosed as heartworm positive (yet the owner claims she loved him SO much). The APHDR angels have passed along to SND these words, "Despite his horrible, neglected life on a chain, Maxamus is great with other dogs, children, and even cats, and is one of the sweetest boys we have met in a long time!" APHDR has had Max on 3 weeks of doxycycline to prepare his body for his heartworm treatment, and he is now ready for the HW treatment to begin and he will also be neutered. We all know how costly heartworm treatment is, but to save innocent Maxamus' life, he must have it. APHDR has several heartworm treatment Dobes at the present time (See Dillon and Shelby below)!   They have asked SND if we could assist them with the impending medical bills. SND cannot help any of the rescues without YOU!! Keeping our General Fund afloat is what makes helping these Dobermans possible!! Won't you please click on the links below to see how you can make a donation in ANY amount - no gift is ever to small and 100% is used to satisfy expenses of these Dobes!!  You can make a tax deductible donation by using the PayPal on the right or by mailing in a donation for Maxamus! Don't forget to cross post, FB and share with friends and family our SND dogs! The dogs and we thank you for your continued support. THANK YOU!!

Shelby!

September, 2014: This beautiful 3 year old doll is Shelby, another heartworm positive Doberman saved by A Pinsch of Heaven Doberman Rescue based in Tennessee! Shelby's first group of angels, Doberman Assistance Rescue, had originally rescued Shelby from a NC shelter when her family moved, turning her over to face euthanasia, a new home, or whatever fate would be awaiting her as she sat in the shelter - alone, afraid and confused. The DAN angels rescued her from a high probability death sentence and her second group of angels, APHDR, stepped up to have her vetted and find Shelby her furever home. APHDR states: "Shelby gets along great with other dogs, LOVES children, and even snuggles with cats. On top of being great with everything, Shelby is also one of the abosulte calmest Dobes we have ever met." Like most dogs saved from the South, Shelby is heartworm positive and will soon need her heartworm treatment started as she is almost finished with her pre-treatment 3 week course of Doxycycline. With the many Dobes APHDR currently has that need medical care, they have asked SND if we could assist with Shelby's heartworm treatment. Such a perfect little girl deserves to be made well again so she can go on to live the life she should've always had. Won't you click on the links below to make a donation in ANY amount to help our rescues be able to continue saving more needy Dobies. No amount is EVER to small!! All donations are tax deductible and the full amount goes directly to the Dobes. WE can't help without your support!! Thank you from the bottoms of the hearts of all of us in SND, Dobie rescues and of course and especially, the Dobermans' hearts! Please remember to cross post, FB and share with family and friends all of our SND Dobes. You can make a tax deductible donation by using the PayPal on the right or by mailing in a donation for Shelby! Thank you!!

Dillon!

September, 2014: Meet Dillon! He's a 4 year old youngster who is able to tell you just what he wants with the expressions on his beautiful face as well as his silly antics! We'll never know how, but this darling became homeless and was discovered in a rural TN shelter by the RescueAngels of A Pinsch of Heaven Doberman Rescue . Dillon was very thin, still intact and naturally, as most rescued Southern dogs are - he is heartworm positive. He's just started his pre-heartworm treatment of doxycycline, and will need to begin the long and treacherous heartworm treatment itself right afterward. APHDR is committed to Dillon and his health care along with finding him his furever home once he is well. The rescue has several Dobes with heartworm and many others with medical needs at this time and have asked SND for assistance. This wonderful rescue is doing all that it can with limited resource and is seeking assistance wherever they can find it! Their 50l(c)(3) is pending approval and they will also join the network of DPCA Rescues in order to qualify for much-needed subsidies!  Keeping this APHDR solvent is critical as TN has been a rescue wasteland for a VERY long time! Please click on the links below to see how YOU can make a donation to assist in saving a life! All gifts are tax deductible and every cent goes to the Dobes!! Thank you so much for your continued support of SND and the rescues who save so many helpless Dobermans. You can make your tax deductible donation by using the PayPal on the right or by mailing in a donation for Dillon! Please cross post, FB and share with your friends and relatives!! Harvey!

August, 2014: Eight years young, Gentleman Harvey is a much beloved foster with San Antonio Doberman Advocacy and Rescue in Texas. His achievements, determination and magic simply cannot be articulated with mere words. Harvey came into SADAR as a severely abused Doberman which resulted in his having horrible fear issues. His foster parents Kris and Kevin, who worship this Gent, have helped Harvey overcome his fear of people to the point that Harvey is the go-to Therapy Doberman that helps other dogs with behavioral issues overcome all manner of demons before they're placed into forever homes. If there is a therapy award for heros in service to other canines, Harvey would be the gold medal winner! To quote Margo Marsh, the president of SADAR, "There has never been another dog who has made such a huge recovery and who means as much to SADAR as Harvey." His less than perfect past was not all Harvey had to overcome - he has battled health problems, too. In Febuary of 2013, he underwent eye surgery to save his sight after diagnosis of an auto immune disease and he remains on expensive drops to hold his problem in check.  And now, he's facing the ominous spectre of aggressive cancer. He had his left rear leg amputated in August and will need chemotherapy to help stop the malignancy. I can personally attest to the sad fact the chemotherapy is extremely expensive. SADAR needs your and our help and contributions to give this amazing and magic Gentleman the best chance of beating this horrible disease. Please spread the word about Ambassador Harvey and contribute what you can, so he can continue his magic for everyone - human and canine - he meets.  You can make a tax deductible donation by using PayPal or mailing in a donation - No amount is ever too small and 100% of your donation will help Harvey!!   Be a part of Saving Harvey - he's more than worth it!!  He's our new Poster Dude and you can visit him here http://www.doberman911.org. We all thank you for your continued support of these very Special Needs Dobermans!! THANK YOU!!

Sedona!

August, 2014: Poor 2 year old Miss Sedona - another case of life-threatening Goat Life!  Taken by her people to the vet and told she would likely require emergency surgery for an intestinal blockage, they opted to get her a Blue Cocktail instead.  Wow, a death sentence for acting like a goat? Life's cheap when you're "just a dog" and easily replaced. Fortunately for this young DobeMiss, the vets at Apple Valley Animal Hospital reached out to the RescueAngels from Doberman Pinscher Rescue!  Miss Sedona has had her surgery and she is doing great and resting comfortably - but, likely this blockage had been there for more than a little bit of time and surgery was complicated by resections to remove necrotic tissue.  Complicated surgery means MORE expensive surgery  - and this on the backs of an already stretched Rescue, you know how that feels:  OUCH!! Well, DPR was not about to turn their backs on her!! The quick surgery saved this Girlie's life but now we'll ask you to help us save DPR's life (budget)!  SND will help as much as is possible but we can't do it alone - we need YOUR help!! Please... pretty please with DobeKissies on top?  Come be one of Sedona's Angels!! You can begin now - just use the PayPal button on the right, or you can mail your donation - 100% will be used for Sedona's care! No amount is ever too small and is VERY appreciated by Miss Sedona, DPR and SND too. As always, we thank you for your continued support! THANK YOU!!

Elvira!

August, 2014: Meet Miss Elvira!! At 2(?) years young, this sweet young Dobergirl was wandering the streets in a California town and unfortunately, she was struck by a car. The Police Department came to her aid and delivered her to the caring staff at Princevalle Pet Hospital. They soon discovered her left leg was broken. The staff were smitten by both her sweet personality and her obvious appreciation for the emergency treatments they provided. No owner came looking for her and it looked like her fate would be the Blue Cocktail Bar - BUT, just in the nick of time, the RescueAngels from Northern California Doberman Rescue reached the clinic and gave them their word that her surgery expenses would be covered. Within hours she was in surgery and although it was a bit more complicated than originally anticipated, she came through with flying colors! She's already making brief trips outside for potty breaks and meals and is no longer sporting that awkward catheter. She will be staying at the clinic for five days, and then continue to recover at the DobeSpa (that is the Cottage Kennel in the Bay Area :) - lucky Girlie!). After 6-8 weeks of R&R, she will need another surgery to remove the pin holding her bones together. It hasn't been determined yet if that will mean a trip back to the clinic or if it can be taken care in Red Bluff with NCADR's vet. Either way, the total costs are now over $2K to cover both surgeries. Her boarding kennel expenses have already been guaranteed by another NCADR RescueAngel!! Elvira's Angels can't wait to have her safely with them and ultimately into a new loving family. Won't you join Elvira's Angels in footing the bill for her lucky break? Sure you will! SND will too! Please help us cover these life-saving surgical expenses with your tax deductible donation to Elvira through Special Needs Dobermans - Fully 100% of your gift will be used to help Miss Elvira! You can use PayPal, mail a check, or use a credit card to SND and simply state your contribution is for Elvira.  Use the PayPal button on the right, or you can mail your donation. No amount is ever too small and is VERY appreciated. As always, we thank you for your continued support! We have featured Miss Elvira on our home page and we invite you to please take another look at our newest Poster DobeGirlie at http://www.doberman911.org. THANK YOU!!

Dax!

July, 2014: Meet handsome Mr. Dax!  Just now at 14 months old, this DobeDude has a literally BIG problem.  At 12 weeks old, according to his former owners, Dax fell out of a 2nd story window!  An accident? Think about it... That was certainly enough but at least he was taken to a vet - a HORSE vet - we'll call him Dr. Frankenstein.  Dr. F proceeded to install two HORSE-SIZE bolts into Dax's leg.  Fast forward 11 months later, this poor Dude has two bolts trying to break out of his leg!  They are huge and protrude over an inch on the outside of the leg right above the knee!!  These bolts force Dax to sit, stand or do anything else in a very awkward manner and he is already showing signs of arthritis in the associated joints!  Talk about a bad start in life!!  His luck changed when his former owners surrendered him to the RescueAngels at San Antonio Doberman Advocacy & Rescue - SADAR COULD NOT turn their backs on this young Dobe who desperately needed a better future beginning with a visit to a surgeon.  The vets that saw Dax were appalled at the treatment he received for this injury at 12 weeks - an injury which just really needed a cast and rest - certainly not Dr. F's horse BOLTS!!   He's had his surgery to try and extract these bolts and possibly mitigate the damage to the bone itself.  Please join us in helping SADAR put this young DobeDude on the path to a very bright future which he deserves to have!! You can begin now by clicking on the PayPal button to the right or by mailing one in. No amount is ever too smal and 100% will be used to pay for Dax's surgery!! All of us at SADAR and SND and the amazing Dobermans in rescues like SADAR appreciate your continued support!!! Thank you!!

Scarlett!

July, 2014: Poor Miss Scarlett!! At 17 months young, Miss Scarlett decided she wanted to try the 'goat-life' for kicks!  Ingesting a towel gave her SEVERE indigestion and an intestinal blockage!  Emergency surgery saved her life but little did anyone know this predilection would find her back at the vet with ANOTHER blockage in less than a week - this time, not for another life-saving surgery - but to be destroyed.  Compassionate vets called the RescueAngels at Doberman Rescue of Colorado who immediately took responsibility for this young lady's life!  She had her second surgery and is now recovering nicely at DRCO.  Given their long years of experience with ALL kinds of Doberman foibles - she will be giving up the goat-life permanently! Because this surgery was further complicated by the recent prior surgery, even with a discount, expenses for this type of emergency are not small!  Won't you please join DRCO and SND in giving Scarlett the Goat another chance at a good life?  You can begin by now! You may click on the PayPal button to the right, declaring a gift, or by mailing one in. No amount is ever too smal and 100% will be used for this DobeMiss!! As always, we at SND and the amazing rescues we help, appreciate your continued support of our SNDobies!!! Thank you!!

Ruger!

UPDATE: Here it is late August, the Dog Days, and we are here to celebrate Ruger's progress!  Ruger has begun his heartworm treatment and is scheduled for jewel removal and gastropexy by mid-September.  He must face another surgery complicated by being cryptorchid but that will allow his VERY caring vet to do his gastropexy at the same time.  Please keep rooting for this very brave Dude and keep donations coming in - this was not an inexpensive save - but DRC never balked or wavered!  THANK YOU Nancy & your AngelTeam!!  Show those Angels your gratitude with a donation to Ruger's remaining care!!  THANKS!!!
UPDATE: After five grueling hours of surgery today July 11, 2014, Ruger's surgeon's have managed to piece his arm back together with pins and plates and hope that healing will knit these back together.  He required blood transfusion, has a long recovery as well as facing heartworm treatment and complicated neuter when he is able.  PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE help us help him and thank the RescueAngels from Doberman Rescue Concern!
7/14/14:  Ruger continues to recuperate well!!  Swelling is down in his leg that was shot, repaired arm is stable and he is eating like a champ (and doing all those other things we DobeLovers all hope for after trauma like this... :)  PLEASE continue to support this Champ!!  THANKS!!
7/27/14:  Ruger has had his stitches removed - he is doing very well.  He will keep the hardware (a lot) for a while or maybe even for good if needed to keep that horrific fracture stable.  He is so upbeat but he still has the Heartworm Hurdle to overcome - please keep sending this DobeDude your best and support him if you can!!  THANKS!!
July, 2014: Over the years, Special Needs Dobermans has helped hundreds of Dobermans with life threatening injuries and illness. Our newest case, Ruger in Florida, is possibly one of the worst examples of abuse, neglect and horror. This beautiful blue boy was discovered in the streets by the Sheriff's Department and turned over to animal control. He displayed a horribly swollen rear leg and upon examination, it was discovered the leg was swollen due to a gunshot wound. Vet care of this magnitude could not administered at AC and so, deus ex machina style, in steps Doberman Rescue Concern's Nancy Armstrong who promptly took Ruger under her RescueAngel wings!  He was admitted to the local ER where the veterinarians also discovered that his front right leg was horribly fractured into many pieces (see the x-ray above), also due to a gunshot wound - TWO DIFFERENT CALIBERS!!  His face shows plenty of evidence of fighting - perhaps used as a bait dog and then used for target practice???  His nails are worn down to the quick, perhaps indicative of trying to fend off attackers or being left to fend for himself for who knows how long (if he was lucky). This dear Doberman has had to be transported by stretcher only but off he went to DRC's orthopedic vet.  As if all this horror were not enough, Ruger is also heartworm positive and cryptorchid too.  Ruger is receiving IV antibiotics for the massive infection in his leg and pain medications too of course. The surgeons will do their best to save Ruger's arm. This will be a very long surgery but, thankfully, Ruger's heart is strong and his lungs are clear, which is always a concern with a heartworm diagnosis. This truly makes my heart ache, it goes way beyond tears. Saving Ruger is saving our own piece of humanity - shame on the subhumans who caused this though they likely do not have any!  All we can do now is send support in the form of donations to SND in Ruger's name so he can have the care that will save his life and hopefully his limb too! SND is determined to help and we have pledged General Funds for his use.   You can begin to helping Ruger too by clicking on the PayPal button to the right or by mailing one in. Please think of this dear, sweet Dobe and send him some positive karma along with what it takes to get him well. Donate what you can - 100% of what you give will be used for his care! Ruger needs all of us to support him. Help change Ruger's world. Thank you.

Maddox!

July, 2014: The best day of Maddox's 4 years of life was being picked up by Georgia Animal Control. I know that sounds odd, but, it got him into the Doberman Assistance Network and that made it a good day! They got him to Teka Clark and Forever Dobes Rescue, where Foster Mom Angie was waiting to get her loving hands on him. He was living rough outside before being picked up. He came in a very hungry, sad Dobe who has quickly acclimated to being a house Dobe! He is housebroken, crate-trained and has no issues with other dogs. He even sits on command and will wait for food to be put down. He's a sweet, friendly boy who is very loving... he's is already sharing kisses!! He's been so good, he is already out of the crate at night - no accidents, no destruction... what a good boy this is! Unfortunately before Maddox can find his forever home, he must be rid of the dreaded heartworm. Yep, another battle - and our side simply must win! Please join Forever Dobes Rescue and SND in forever ending heartworm infestations, one Dobe at a time! You can begin by helping Maddox. You may click on the PayPal button to the right, declaring a gift, or by mailing one in. No amount is too small, these Dobes are grateful for it all! As always, we at SND, appreciate your continued support of our SNDobies!!! Thank you!!

Clifford!

July, 2014: Clifford is an old boy, can't tell you how old, but he's up there. He was originally reported to be younger, but, that was likely only to give him a second chance. He was dumped into a high kill shelter in Louisiana and was facing euthanasia very soon. Gulf Coast Doberman Rescue is over-full right now but these RescueAngels could not let this super cool dude go down without a fight. They reached out for help and Doberman Rescue Minnesota RescueAngels said YES! After all the phone calls and travel logistics, Clifford arrived in Minnesota on July 1st - only three days early for his own Freedom Party!! He had a wonderlful "homecoming" provided by DRM!!  He has a foster home and will begin treatment for heartworm (surprise, surprise!!) very soon. Clifford is a very nice senior boy who will make someone a great companion - with your help. You can begin to help Clifford by clicking on the PayPal button to the right or by mailing one in. No amount is ever too small and every penny, 100%, goes to the dogs! So please consider joining us in the on-going heartworm battle, and, as always, helping our SNDobies!!! Thank you!! YOU, the Doberman community, have helped so many needy Dobes - please find it in your heart, once again, to help one more Senior DobeGent find his Golden Years!! All of us sincerely appreciate your continued support of our SNDobies!! Thank you so much!!  You will be able to take another look at Mr. Clifford on his own Senior Page at http://www.doberman911.org/seniors/cases/mn_clifford.html very soon! We will help Mr. Clifford with both General and Senior Medical Funds if necessary, so, please do your part in helping keep these SND Funds afloat for the future Dobermans in rescue who need YOU (who doesn't revel in felling needed?) - you might even want to spring for a Sponsorship of this handsome DobeGent!!  THANK YOU!!

Ginger!

July, 2014: Apparently no one has told Ginger she's a senior at 8 years old! She plays like a puppy - just poops out quicker! This sweet girlie was a stray who was picked up by a Georgia shelter. It took almost a month to get her "up north" to Toni West, Sweet Melissa and the Rescue Angels of South West Ohio Doberman Rescue... but thanks to the Delivering Angels of the Doberman Assistance Network (DAN), she finally made it! Now starts the job of getting her ready for a home to live out her final years being loved and spoiled rotten. First, she is heartworm positive (no big surprise :(( - so SWODR is dealing with that. She also has lumbosacral spondylosis, which makes her hold up one back leg. She is currently on Novox for her back issues, with steroids waiting in the wings. She is also being treated for hypothyroidism. If this seems like alot of effort for "one old dog," just talk to Melissa - she says Ginger is more than worth it!! She is extra-strength velcro and just as sweet as they come. She's great with all her new Dober-siblings and completely ignores Melissa's cats! SWODR and SND have joined forces to help this sweetie, and, as always, we can't do it without your help. You can begin to help Ginger by clicking on the PayPal button to the right or by mailing one in. The truly great Doberman community has helped so many needy Dobes - please find it in your heart to help one more old girl find her bliss!! All of us here at SND sincerely appreciate your continued support of our SNDobies!! Thank you so much!!  So, please take another look at Miss ginger on her own Senior Page at http://www.doberman911.org/seniors/cases/oh_ginger.html ! We will help Miss Ginger with both General and Senior Medical Funds.  Please do your part in helping keep these SND Funds afloat for the future Dobermans in rescue who need extraordinary veterinary care - you might even want to spring for a Sponsorship of this beautiful DobeLady!!  THANK YOU!!

Alex!

June, 2014: This most handsome and noble Dobe's name is Alexander the Great. The fates were not smiling on Alex when his mother passed away and his father was sent off to a nursing home, leaving Alex at the mercy of family members who wanted to send him off to Animal Control. A kind lady came rushing to Alex's aid, however, and she took him into her home while she scrambled to find room in a Rescue. Finally, Pam and the DobeAngels of Ilinois Doberman Rescue came swooping down - all the way to GA - and grabbed Alexander The Great, whisking him to safety.  Alex had been well loved in his past life BUT he is heartworm positive. Let's NOT let the worm be the one to conquer his noble heart!! This Senior Gent is so very special and deserves to find himself in the arms of an adoring family, happy and healthy!! He was already very lucky to find himself with IDR who never thought twice about helping him - won't you help us help them?  Sure you will!!  Alexander the Great is counting on YOU!! Please donate to SND to assist IDR with Alex's heartworm treatment. With you help, Alex will continue to conquer many hearts for years to come.  You can help now by clicking on the PayPal button to the right, or by mailing one in. Please know the IDR RescueAngels and we at SND THANK YOU for your continued support of these dear Dobermans!!  So, please take another look at Alexander the Great on his own Senior Page at http://www.doberman911.org/seniors/cases/il_alex.html -  Alex will be helped with both General and Senior Medical Funds so please do your part in helping keep these SND Funds afloat for the future Dobermans in rescue who need extraordinary veterinary care - you might want to spring for a Sponsorship of dear Alex too!!  THANK YOU!!

Zoe!

June, 2014: Let me introduce to you Zoe, she's a 1-2 year old little DobeGirliel who is barely out of puppy hood. Like parents with youngsters, dog owners also need to know where their 'family members' are at all times. Well, 2 months ago, someone wasn't paying attention and Zoe 'got out' and was attacked by not 1, but 2 Pit Bulls!! It was a brutal 2 against 1 fight and poor Zoe suffered wounds over most of her body. Of her many injuries, the worst ones were a deep underarm wound and the loss of 1/2 of her right ear. How did her owner react? He took her to a vet to be destroyed (the rest of the way)! However, death was not to be Zoe's fate! Her guardian VetAngel took her under their wings - following their calling rather than the money trail as is so often the case.  After 1 month recovering at the vet's office she was transferred to the RescueAngels of San Antonio Doberman Advocacy & Rescue. Upon arrival to SADAR, her underarm wound reopened so it was off to the emergency vet where it was sutured and a drainage tube was inserted to prevent fluid buildup. Zoe will almost certainly need surgery on her ear as well. The damage from the bites changed the ear structure and the ear now collapses on itself which closes off the drainage tube. And as if all of that isn't enough, Zoe has MRSA in both of these wounds. She's been on strong antibiotics for the infection for 2 months now and has 3 more weeks to go when, at that time, hopes are high that the MRSA will be gone. Zoe cannot have her ear surgery until she is infection free, otherwise the MRSA could spread throughout her body. Zoe is currently being treated aggressively with laser treatments to her ear and underarm which is promoting healthy tissue regrowth by increasing bloodflow to the wounds as well as killing bacteria. The laser treatments have been especially instrumental with the healing effects of her underarm! All of this due to someone's carelessness -- or more likely, just not caring at all. SADAR is no different from our other RescueAngels when it comes to having large vet bills due to the never ending influx of sick and injured Dobermans. Zoe has already been given the best treatment possible, and we want that treatment to continue so she can become healthy once more and be able to enjoy a new life with a new family, a family who will love and appreciate her for how special and truly wonderful she is. Won't you help SND assist SADAR with a contribution to the General Fund directed to Zoe's care?? You can use PayPal by clicking on the button to the right, or you can mail your donation. No amount is ever too small and EVERY cent goes to her care and is appreciated. SND and all the rescues can't thank you enough for your generous gifts. Without the rescues and SND, many many innocent lives would be lost. Again, we thank you for your continued support! We have featured Miss Zoe on our home page and we invite you to please take another look at our newest Poster DobeGirlie at http://www.doberman911.org. THANK YOU!!

Ozzy!

June, 2014: Ozzy is thought to be 5 hellish years old.   I can't tell you how many of those years were spent in an abusive, violent home. Probably all of them... Truthfully, it was initially believed his lameness was due to abuse by his "loving" owner, who kept him locked up in the basement to live in his own waste. The owner said he was only giving him up because he was working 12 hours a day and that was the reason he was shut in the basement. Whatever. The guy also said Ozzy had only been lame for a couple days, the wife claims it has been over a month. Yes, Ozzy is lame, not just lame but osteosarcoma lame. On Wednesday, June 18th, Ozzy will lose a hind leg and begin his battle for a healthy life. His lungs are clear, no tumors there and Teka Clark and her RescueAngel squad at Forever Doberman Rescue, who have never given up on any Doberman, will not give up on him. This boy is so loving and enchanting, Teka's vet took him into their staff meeting with him yesterday! He has captured everyone's heart! Teka and all the RescueAngels at FDR have committed to helping this great guy and he is now an SNDobie too! Please join Forever Dobes and SND in helping Ozzy pay for the surgery which is his only chance. You can begin to help Ozzy via PayPal by clicking the button to the right. You may also mail one in. Remember no amount is ever too small! Every penny goes to the dogs! And, as always, we appreciate your continued support of our beloved SNDobies!! Dobie!

June, 2014: Meet Mr. Dobie!! He and his sister Bonnie (who has now been adopted!! YAY!) were surrendered to Illinois Doberman Rescue because their owner was stricken by cancer and is now in hospice. Before he was confined, he wanted to make sure good homes were found for his beloved Dobermans. Until recently, dear Dobie was living outside in a pen and because of his RescueAngels from IDR, he is so very happy to be in a new foster home. Unfortunately, because he lived outside and didn’t receive his monthly prevention, he was also heartworm positive and he is now recovering from his treatment. Dobie is a quiet, sweet, and friendly 2 year-old and is a model citizen in his foster home. He's even crate trained! Dobie is such a handsome, young Doberboy that will need a loving home and furever family when his health issues have been addressed. While he's been in foster, his foster Mom noticed that he walked with a limp.  The IDR RescueAngels took him in for follow-up care and X-rays showed his hip joint is injured and deteriorated, so he will need an expensive FHO surgery which was scheduled for June 18. We have been given an UPDATE which tells us Dobie had the surgery on his broken hip and is doing well!  What needs a little help now is the IDR Doberman Slush Fund - you know, that which pays for all the care these guys need to make them whole again - and ready for their Forever Families!! Won't YOU help us continue to assist Dobermans in need and groups like IDR continue their quest? You can make a tax deductible donation by using the PayPal button on the right or by mailing one in. Mr. Dobie, IDR and SND ALL THANK YOU for your continued support of these dear Dobermans!!  Keep the vital General Fund healthy so we can continue to bring help to future Dobermans in the care of Rescues who may need help with extraordinary veterinary expenses!!  THANK YOU!!

Max!

June, 2014: Meet Mr. Max!  He did live with a family during his first 4 years, but they found they no longer have time or resources to give him what he needs. Their previous, black cropped & docked Doberman - also named Max - passed away.  As happens too many times, they got what they thought was a clone of Max #1 and even gave him the same name. Shockingly (??), a young intact male Doberman has a lot more energy than his older predecessor and he also lacked training. He ALSO didn't get the simple monthly heartworm preventative needed to prevent this deadly parasite and so to no one's surprise, he tested positive. In his first LUCKY break... the only right thing that happened for him was to fall into the hands of the RescueAngels from Illinois Doberman Rescue!!  IDR is always there for even the worst cases and they were there for Max!!  Because of their always willingness to help, they are always flooded with cases requiring veterinary care which can get quite expensive!  Back to Back heartworm treatments can run into $$!  Mr. Max has been treated and is on the road to recovery and to his Forever Family - IDR will SEE to that!! Won't YOU help us continue to assist Dobermans in need and groups like IDR continue their quest? You can make a tax deductible donation by using the PayPal button on the right or by mailing one in. Mr. Max, IDR and SND ALL THANK YOU for your continued support of these dear Dobermans!!  Keep the vital General Fund healthy so we can continue to bring help to future Dobermans in the care of Rescues who may need help with extraordinary veterinary expenses!!  THANK YOU!!

Sophie!

June, 2014: Please help Miss Sophie, a beautiful blue girlie who is only 10 months old! She had been owned by an 80 year old couple who thought a doberman puppy would be a great thing to have... NOT! After suffering a broken hind leg two weeks ago, (yes I said two weeks ago!!), they decided after X-rays that they could not afford her surgery - plus at their age, a puppy probably wasn't such a good idea... NO, REALLY?? Thank the heavens they contacted the RescueAngels at Doberman Rescue of Minnesota, because the owners said if they hadn't taken her they were going to have her euthanized - a fancy word for "destroyed" amongst other euphemistic terms! What a tragedy that would have been!! This little girlie doesn't have a mean bone in her body, loves everyone and everything! I just watched a short video of her in the parking lot from when she was picked up by her foster mom and a little girl came over and asked if she could pet the puppy. She did pet Sophie and then kissed her on the head - so sweet it made me cry and Sophie loved it. Here's your own view of "The Kiss" - You can really tell this little girl will never forget it!  Take a look here http://youtu.be/dKUknZFoVmU - resist that if you can!! As you can imagine this surgery is going to be very expensive. Please help SND and Doberman Rescue of Minnesota help pay for this baby girl's surgery so she can get the loving, happy home she deserves! Thank you for anything you can do to help Sophie. You can make a tax deductible donation by using the PayPal button on the right or by mailing one in. Ben!

June, 2014: Meet Gentle Ben!  He's estimated to be 5-6 years young but in his condition, you would be hard-pressed not to say he is older and showing his mileage!  Dear Ben was rescued from a shelter that would not put him up for adoption and planned to give him the blue cocktail treatment on the very day that he was rescued by the RescueAngels of Doberman Rescue of Nevada - talk about a much-needed deux ex machina!! He came to be in the shelter where he was picked up as a stray.  He had an 8" gash on his back right above his tail. Fortunately, the shelter saw to it that the gash was sutured and gave him antibiotics but they did nothing else except to hold him for the legally required time - we are grateful they did this much as many shelters do nothing and let wounded creatures just suffer and languish until cocktail hour. Knowing he was doomed, DRNV worked with California DART group and the Doberman Assistance Network (DAN) to claim him and transport him to Las Vegas. His Vet exam showed he suffers from at least 3 split teeth with pulp exposed that must be extremely painful. He walks very slowly and we believe it is because of his reaction to the pain. Yet, he is extremely gentle even under very challenging circumstances and relishes attention and affection. He is being tested for thyroid issues due to his condition, skin and coat. He has a LOT of calluses from time spent outside. He will require a major dental procedure and removal of several teeth to restore comfort. Gentle Ben's other issues, if there are any, will be addressed so he can proceed to his search for a Forever Family. Most rescues who seek help from SND's vital General Fund do so because the financial realities they face always make it difficult to help as many Dobermans as cross their path - truly gentle souls like dear Ben!  Ben, DRNV and SND need your help!! Please join us now  You can begin by clicking on the PayPal button to the right, or by mailing one in. Please know the DRNV RescueAngels and we at SND THANK YOU for your continued support of these dear Dobermans!!  So, please take another look at our new PosterGentleman at http://www.doberman911.org - Please do your part in helping keep this essential SND Fund healthy so we can bring help to future Dobermans who need extraordinary veterinary care!!  As always, THANK YOU!!

Duke!

May, 2014: Meet The Duke of San Antonio! SND first met this handsome DobeGent as a Senior listed by the Senior Doberman Project. This 8 year-old Duke was surrendered to San Antonio Doberman Advocacy & Rescue because his family was suffering serious medical issues and had to move in with other family members who already had 4 dogs. He had been cared for and knows his basic commands, WAS very energetic, and loved to play. At the time, he had no known medical issues and was soon eligible for adoption.  The word WAS will play an ominous role is dear Duke's present life.  Duke was adopted and was with his new family when an unfortunate incident at a dog park ended his new-found fortune and happiness. Really? A dog park for a new senior in residence? The 'incident' left Duke paralyzed and when he was finally evaluated by a vet, it was reported that he would need spinal surgery upwards of $5K immediately.  SADAR requested that Duke be returned immediately as they have more confidence in their own veterinary resources.  He was taken to SADAR's vet for emergency treatments with steroids to reduce the inflammation in his spine.  He has responded slowly so far and it is hoped that he will make enough of a recovery to enjoy a subdued retirement at SADAR.  These RescueAngels have been hit not only with a flood of Dobermans needing rescue but also several with high dollar medical needs.  They desperately need all of our help - SND's and YOURS too! Won't you please join us?  You can begin by clicking on the PayPal button to the right, or by mailing one in. Please know the SADAR RescueAngels and we at SND THANK YOU for your continued support of these dear Dobermans!!  So, please take another look at our new PosterGentleman at http://www.doberman911.org and visit The Duke's Senior Page at http://www.doberman911.org/seniors/cases/tx_duke.html  Duke will be helped with both General and Senior Medical Funds so please do your part in helping keep these SND Funds afloat for the future Dobermans in rescue who need extraordinary veterinary care!!  THANK YOU!!

Mercedes!

May, 2014: Some people have no heart and that certainly includes the previous disgraceful "owners" of Mercedes. Dear Mercedes, at only seven years young, was dumped at a high kill shelter in Columbia, South Carolina. She was discarded in the same manner anyone else would dispose of their disgusting garbage. Upon arrival at the shelter, Mercedes' appearance pointed to a girl who had lived her life as an outside dog. She was filthy with old fly bites on her ears, thin, hungry, and appears to have been bred many times. Euthanasia had been scheduled when Canine Rescue of North Augusta stepped in to save what they describe to be a "gentle, sweet, affectionate, mild mannered girl who has a lot to offer and deserves to live...". Canine Rescue has started her medical care which alerted them to the fact that Mercedes is, to no surprise, heartworm positive. Her heartworms must be gone before Mercedes can be adopted into her forever home. Heartworm treatment is very costly, and when an all-breed rescue like Canine Rescue chooses to aid one of our own, we feel compelled to help as much as we can!!  They would appreciate any assistance that SND can provide and YOU can help by making a donation. NO amount is ever too small, and every cent goes to the Dobes! You may donate by using the Paypal button to the right, or you can mail in your gift. Thank you so much for your continued support of the SNDobes!!

Bella Blue !

May, 2014: Miss Bella Blue is a gorgeous 2 year DobeGirl who was found back in January trying to find shelter from the cold by leaning against a fence. She had been hit by a car and displayed an injury to one of her front legs. Gulf Coast Doberman Rescue Angels contacted the veterinarian where Bella was taken to be treated, but the vet had already released her to a Pit Bull Rescue in the area. GCDR learned through facebook that Bella's "owners" had resurfaced and the PB Rescue released her to them. Fast forward to a couple weeks ago, when GCDR learned of two Dobermans that were left in a home after their owners were arrested. Upon investagation, GCDR learned that one of the Dobes was Bella, and now she had a terrible rear leg injury - her patella was floating above her knee, as all the tendons had been torn. Finally, Bella was released to GCDR and brought into surgery. She was in heat, showed evidence of demodectic mange but in spite of all of the misery she has endured, she is still as sweet as they come. Bella's surgery was long and complicated, as the tendons had to be stretched to put the patella back in place, and the vet did not want to leave her under even longer to do her spay surgery. She must be kept on limited activity, as the repair to the tendons must heal to allow the tendons to relax as this appears to be an old injury and the tissues have shrunk. This little angel has had much more than her share of heartache and neglect. Please help SND and Gulf Coast Doberman Rescue pay for Bella's surgery, laser treatment and physical therapy. EVERY cent goes to help Miss Bella Blue. She's a gorgeous Girlie and by looking at her sweet face, you know she thanks you for it! Let's make the only 'blue' associated with her from now on is her coat color!! Start helping now by clicking on the PayPal button to the right, or by mailing one in. Maksim!

May, 2014: At two years old, Maksim was picked up as a stray in Georgia. His skinny little body was arrested and sent to a very high kill shelter. Lucky, lucky boy - he was promptly rescued by the Angels of the Doberman Assistance Network!  D.A.N. got to work immediately getting him into foster so he could get some weight on him until he could be sent to a Doberman rescue.  They found him a place in the loving arms of Forever Dobes Rescue in Ohio. RescueAngels Teka and Lucinda went to work getting him up to weight and ready to find his forever home, but he does have a problem to be dealt with first. Sweet Mr. Maksim is heartworm positive and must go through those nasty treatments to be ready for LIFE. You're probably sick of heartworm positive stories, it seems as though every day it's another after another. BUT... each one cured and becomes another beautiful Doberman who will never (hopefully) have worms clogging their heart again. Please join Forever Dobes Rescue and SND as we get this sweet, sweet boy ready for his forever home! You can begin helping by clicking on the PayPal button to the right, or by mailing one in. Please remember every penny will go "to the dogs" - And, as always, we at SND THANK YOU for your continued support of our SNDobies!!!!  So, please take another look at our new PosterDude at http://www.doberman911.org - THANK YOU from FDR and SND for your continuing support of Dobermans in Rescues and SND's efforts to do the same! Spirit!

May, 2014: Meet the Spirit of...  well, maybe not the only Spirit of the RescueAngels of Doberman Rescue of Minnesota! This Spirit has a 2 year old white Doberman boy who has been with them for quite some time. When Spirit was a newborn pup he was taken from his mother and siblings and sent to a puppy mill. Unblievable that anyone could do such a thing. Spirit spent the first 18 months of his life in an outdoor kennel that was crowded, filthy and noisy. The only interaction he ever had with people was at feeding time. The greedy mill owners were convinced that Spirit was going to make them lots and lots of money. Thankfully, that did not happen. The police stepped in and shut them down!! WOOHOO! ALL of the dogs were taken out of that awful place and Spirit was so very lucky to be rescued by DRM. He has made huge strides in his foster home and his spirit has never wavered. Of course there was a bit of a learning curve due to his circumstances. He had to learn how to live in a house, with people and how to potty outside. Even though he lived 18 months of his life in a crate he still loves his crate and will go in and just hang out there. He loves being pampered by his groomer and gets great joy from being around people. He would love nothing more than to have a forever home with people to love! But one day, he started having seizures. After having several seizures in a small amount of time he was taken to University of Minnesota for an MRI where he was diagnosed with benign epilepsy. Although there is no reason he cannot live a normal life with medication, people are very hesitant to adopt a dog with special needs and especially an albino! Spirit is a wonderful, sweet boy and he deserves much better than what he got the first 18 months of his life. Of course his bills are piling up - the MRI alone was almost $2000 and again just like with poor Karbella, these RescueAngels need financial help with these special cases. Please help DRM in any way you can, no amount is too small. Please go and take another look at this beautiful boy, he will melt your heart - he's our new Poster Boy at http://www.doberman911.org!! You can make a donation now by using PayPal with the button on the right or by sending one in. Our dobes cannot afford for these rescues to go away so please please help us help them. Thank you!!!

Karbella!

April, 2014: Not a lot was known about Karbella when she landed in the arms of RescueAngels at Doberman Rescue of Minnesota - other than she was a Senior girl of about eight years. She was always a lovely Senior lady that loved everyone - people, small dogs, large dogs, cats and sunbathing and... oh yes, music! But, when ever she got the chance she would eat things that she shouldn't. Unfortunetely Miss Karbella decided to eat some cat toys and part of her foster mom's sweat pants. She became very ill and had to be rushed into emergency surgery, but due to her unstable condition she could not be operated on until she was stabilized. Fluids for dehydration and other stabilizing measures were given. After many very expensive tests she finally had the surgery on 4/28. The vets were able to remove all the cat toys and cloth along with 1 1/2 feet of intestine. She was in ICU for some time but sadly, her little body could not take any more and she died in ICU in spite of all the measures taken. Obviously the bill for her care is astronomical. DRM has several special needs Dobermans who probably will never be adopted - just like Karbella who didn't get that chance. These RescueAngels are more than willing to keep these Dobes for the remainder of their lives, but a few more large bills like this one and they could go under. We cannot let this happen! Karaella's bill alone is over $7000. If there is any way possible to help SND help DRM, please do so with a generous donation. They are doing what most of us cannot or will not and they desperately need our help. Thank you for loving our breed enough to help these angels. Anything you can do will be greatly appreciated. You can give a tax deductible donation by using the PayPal button on the right of sending in a donation. NO amount is ever too small and 100% goes to assure that SND can continue to help save Doberman lives together! Thank you!!
SND is now seeking memorial contributions Karbella’s name to offset her substantial vet bills and to assist other Doberangels who will follow - keeping the General Fund healthy will assure that we can be there for them too. RIP dear DobeLady - you will be sorely missed.

Lexie!

UPDATE: Poor Miss Lexie! Just as she was fully recovering from her almost fatal encounter with chewable meds, trouble struck again! Just last year, she had undergone surgery for a torn ACL and when she began limping, it was thought that her repair was failing.  After consultation with her surgeon, it was shown that it was in fact the opposite ACL that is now turn.  It's not uncommon that after one ACL is repaired, the other may blow out too - Poor Lexie and poor RescueAngels of SADAR!  Lexie is now a permanent foster after being returned after two failed adoption attempts - Apparently, Lexie has a LOT to say and no amount of disuasion and training has stopped her from becoming the SpokesDobe for SADAR!! PLEASE help SADAR and SND get Lexie the care she needs!  She would surely thank you herself - in her inimitable way - if you get in earshot!!  THANK YOU!!
May, 2014: Meet Miss Lexie!! Still the Belle of San Antonio at 6 and a half years young!  Miss Lexie was surrendered when she was just over 6 months old for being an apparently incorrigible barker - evidently, she still has LOTS to say!! Through countless sessions and methods of retraining, Miss Lexie will have her say - given half a chance she can talk all the time.  Living with all the other wards cared for by the RescueAngels of San Antonio Doberman Advocacy & Rescue, she has come a long way but still does the "briefings" for the newbies - sometimes continually and at the top of her lungs! All of this 'talking' means that no one has been interested in adopting Miss Lexie and so she remains at SADAR to this day, adored by Margo who says:  "...it's just her style" - what a tolerant Angel that Margo is!!  Lucky Lexie!!  Lexie was not so lucky on May 4th when she managed to locate and consume an overdose of chewable Proin tabs.  CHEWABLE TABS ARE DANGEROUS!!  If it's attractive to them - stuff eventually happens - they're attracted to them!!  Of course, these things happen on weekends and it soon became apparent that a visit to the ER was needed.  All of us know the implications of that! After a night in the ER, Lexie was transferred to the care of SADAR's vet where she apparently is making a full recovery!  Fortunately, for the quick response by Margo and some help from SND's General Fund, she was able to get the care she needed! Keeping this vital Fund afloat is the only way we can be sure of being able to help the next Doberman who needs it!  You can help do this by sending your donation now by using the PayPal button on the right or by mailing one in. NO amount is ever too small and 100% will be used to keep the General Fund solvent!  THANK YOU for your continuing support of SNDobermans!!

Sophie!

April, 2014: Meet Miss Sophie!! This charming lady and her daughter were abandoned in a small outdoor enclosure in a small desert town in Nevada. Their owner left perhaps a day of food and water and disappeared. Neighbors discovered them a few days later and provided the very hungry and thirsty pair with what they needed to survive and then began a search for the "owner." Through a relative they discovered that man had no real intent of returning to care for the Dobermans - the owner had been arrested on unrelated fraud charges. That same relative said he did not want them either and would take the pair to the rural animal shelter. Because Sophie was a “mature” Doberman and had come into heat, a trip to that small animal control facility would have been a one-way ticket to the blue cocktail bar. They would have immediately destroyed her. Sophie's kind neighbors reached out to the RescueAngels of Doberman Rescue of Nevada and of course they were promptly taken under their wings! Neither Sophie nor her daughter apparently had not received any vet care for a long time. In Sophie's case, in addition to all her shots and a spay they discovered some large and threatening growths in her mammary glands. The decision was made to immediately remove them because they had all the appearances of cancer. That also meant doing the spay immediately even though she was in heat to prevent the need for two major surgeries back-to-back. The vet had already pronounced Sophie as “the nicest Doberman you’ve ever brought me,” and all held their breath awaiting the lab results. There were tears of joy when they arrived. Sophie did NOT have cancer. Sophie had a bright future. Her charm had touched a vet clinic client who applied to adopt her and was approved. Sophie has gone from a cage in the desert with no water or food to a life of love and leans in a beautiful home. Her daughter is still a ward of DRNV and a happy forever situation will be found for her too!  Though Sophie was so lucky to be adopted so soon, she left a substantial veterinary bill behind for DRNV. SND's General Fund is helping DRNV with that bill because there will be other Sophies and the costs must be paid in order to keep these RescueAngels doing what they do - the need will always be there. Please consider helping however you can and know that NO amount is ever too small and 100% will go to satisfy these bills! Please donate by using the Paypal button on the right or by mailing in a donation. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

Jackie!

UPDATE - The day before she was to leave the clinic fully recovered, DRNV received a horrible phone call. Jackie had suddenly collapsed and died with no symptoms of trouble. DCM was suspected. The vet asked if he could perform a necropsy so we would all know. It was immediately obvious that she had suffered a torsion. Apparently, before any symptoms appeared she threw a clot, likely from her spleen that resulted in a pulmonary thrombosis causing immediate death. Jackie’s last two weeks were filled with love, care, recovery and making people smile as they hugged and she leaned. She had left her terror at the shelter and opened her heart to all who met her. Sometimes Doberangels come into our lives for years as we hope. Sometimes it is only for days, as we must accept. She touched our hearts, and will always remain.
April, 2014: Jackie was found wandering the street in Las Vegas. Animal control decided that because she was about 5, had some wear and tear on her teeth and was very stressed out in the shelter that it was either rescue or euthanasia for her. The Doberman Rescue of Nevada RescueAngels took one look at that face and big airplane ears and realized this was a dog that made everyone smile! Jackie showed herself to be a very friendly and social girl full of leans and kisses. But, the vet also discovered she had some suspicious growths in her mammary glands and on a rear leg. So, while she was being spayed they were removed. Because of growing costs, DRNV asked SND for help and Jackie was immediately accepted into our ranks. Happily, lab tests indicated two growths were benign and so all that remained was to recover from surgery. DRNV took her out to visit the local PetSmart where she made everyone smile with her friendly ways and those ears. You can start helping Miss Jackie now by making a donation using the PayPal button on the right or by mailing one in. NO amount is ever too small and 100% goes to your desginated Doberman! Thank you for your continuing support of Doberman Rescues and SND!
SND is now seeking memorial contributions (see the update above) in Jackie’s name to offset her substantial vet bills and to assist other Doberangels who will follow - keeping the General Fund healthy will assure that we can be there for them too.

Arabella!

April, 2014: Video footage shows Arabella's arrival at a shelter in northwest Ohio. It shows her being shoved out of a car and then pushed into a drop-off kennel. She is probably about 3 years old but she's already done as a breeder. While timid around women, she openly cringes around men, waiting for the next blow to fall. In spite of what has obviously been a horrible life, she warms up to people in a day or so. At that point, it becomes apparent that she is just heart-breakingly sweet, leaving one to wonder what kind of a "thing" (person(?) could do this?? I'm sure any of us can fill in the blanks... booting her out of a car and dumping her like trash!! I'm sure Mrs. Gump would say "...trash is as trash does." In this case, the trash drove away in the car.  Arabella CAN and WILL have a good chance at life thanks to Teka Clark and the RescueAngels of Forever Dobes Rescue. She definitely deserves to be someone's darling girl!  But first, though, she must be healthy. Arabella is heartworm positive, a story you've heard all too often. Heartworm treatment isn't cheap but a part of the cost is gratefully subsidized by DPCA. But, FDR still needs a bit more help to get Miss Arabella fully healthy again! Forever Dobes Rescue and SND ask the great Doberman community for this help in getting her ready for her forever home.   You can begin helping Arabella by clicking on the PayPal button to the right or by mailing one in. As always, we at SND, appreciate your continued support of our SNDobies.  A big thank you from Forever Dobes Rescue and SND for your continuing support of Dobermans in Rescues and SND's efforts to do the same! Keeping SND's General Fund afloat is the only way we can be sure of being able to help the next Doberman who needs it!

Aesa!

April, 2014: One look at this precious 1 year old DobeMiss and we hope you're thinking what we're thinking... What a BEAUTY!! This sweet girl has not had the best luck until now. Poor Aesa was injured as a young puppy, but never given proper care for that injury. The result of that injury? Multipled damage to her rear, left leg. A fractured femur which is much shorter than it should be and hip dysplasia. Her other rear leg has a missing toe and several missing toenails. She was left to deal with these issues for months while suffering with a painful leg. Thankfully for Aesa, she was initially rescue by Doberman Assistance Network (D.A.N.) and is now in the arms of RescueAngels at Distinguished Doberman Rescue in Pennsylvania. She finally is going to get some relief! After consultation with DDRI's vet and a specialist, it was decided that the best treatment plan seems to be FHO surgery to alleviate the pain in her hip. Nothing further can be done for her malformed femur even though her left leg will remain shorter - a non-painful limp is better than the pain she would have had from her hip.  She does use her leg most of the time, so it's hoped the FHO surgery will allow her to have better use of her leg. Aesa is a typical one year old Dobergirl - full of life, love and happiness in spite of the misery her life has been so far. She is a character for sure and very vocal. She loves to tell ya how she's feeling - and we hope the reports from her lips will be all great soon! Princess Aesa has now had her surgery and is recovering very well! What remains is the bill - VERY generously discounted by caring vets.  DDRI is asking for all of us to support this young lady so she can begin her new life with a Forever Family who will always give her the care she always deserved - but didn't always get - until now!! Won't you please help Miss Aesa and DDRI by sending your donation now by using the PayPal button on the right or by mailing one in. NO amount is ever too small and 100% will go to dear Aesa's treatment! Beauty like this shouldn't go unseen, so please take another look at our new Poster Girl at http://www.doberman911.org - THANK YOU from DDRI and SND for your continuing support of Dobermans in Rescues and SND's efforts to do the same! Keeping SND's General Fund afloat is the only way we can be sure of being able to help the next Doberman who needs it!  Again, THANKS!!

Hawk!

April, 2014: YIKES!! I got dumped and I have what?? That zany look has served this Hawk well!  Lucky for Hawk he was left with the RescueAngels at Meridian Valley Humane Society in Idaho.  At three years old, it was obvious that he had problems which were likely the reason he no longer had his 'family' - if you can call them that!  Hawk has very visible muscle atrophy on his head, an "off" gait and evidence of a urinary problem.  Extreme thirstiness and constant urination suggested diabetes insipidus and so he was tested and at least this diagnosis was made.  He will need desmopressin for the rest of his life but this disease is more than manageable!  His neurological problems (if they are that) are another matter that may or may not need or get further attention.  Because of all of this, the RescueAngels at MVHS know that he will be very tough to adopt to a forever family but they have not and will not give up on him - he charms everyone he meets!!  MVHS is an all-breed small rescue operation - but, when an all-breed group helps one of ours, how can we not support them?  Well, we can't and we have pledged to assist with Hawk's diagnostics and first treatments with a grant from our General Fund.  Keeping this vital Fund afloat is the only way we can be sure of being able to help the next Doberman who needs it!  Won't you help us repay MVHS for their care of Zany Hawk?  You can do this by sending your donation now by using the PayPal button on the right or by mailing one in. NO amount is ever too small and 100% will be used to keep the General Fund solvent!  THANK YOU for your continuing support of SNDobermans!!

Nick!

March, 2014: Meet Nick, a four year old, Doberdude left at a boarding kennel for months when his owners were moving - we've all heard the story before about who's the first to get left behind! Thanks to a kind kennel manager (and Lover of Dobes), the RescueAngels of Doberman Pinscher Rescue in California were asked if they would take him in... and of course they agreed, even though they are cash strapped and have Dobes up to their eyebrows!! Just before our RescueAngels could pick Nick up, he bloated. He was taken immediately to the vet where they preformed bloat surgery, during which they found Nick had a suspicious nodule on his spleen.  His spleen was removed and biopsied and thankfully was found not to be cancerous. Because it was an emergency and the spleen had to be removed and biopsied, the bill was astronomical - even for an emergency!!  Over $6500 and NO discount - the charges were exorbitant.   In an emergency, there is no time to haggle - but if you need emergency service, we can tell where NOT to go! We all know how difficult it is right now for all rescues - it is raining Dobes but not raining money! Doberman Pinscher Rescue of CA could have opted for euthanasia due to the circumstances, but because the bloat was caught early and the prognosis was so good they instead saved a precious life, but now are in way over their heads financially. Please join us in standing behind DPR - they wouldn't give up on Nick and we won't and hope you don't either. If there is any way possible you can help this boy and these RescueAngels, please do so by using the PayPal button on the right or by mailing in a donation. We can't save them all, but like the little boy walking on the beach throwing starfish back into the ocean when asked "What does it matter?" He replied as he threw another starfish back in the water, "It matters to that one!" Please take another look at Nick our new Poster Boy on our home page http://www.doberman911.org and be a part of his new life! THANK YOU for your continuing support!!

Cassidy!

April, 2014 - Surgical consult determined that Miss Cassidy does not require repair of her ACL at this time.  The damage was pretty old and it was felt that the scar tissue may be keeping the knee as stable as possible so long as no further injury occurs! This is GREAT news and she's in good hands now!  The grant she didn't require will be used to help the next SNDobe! Have a happy life Miss Cassidy!  Thank you GCDR!!
March, 2014
: How anyone can abandon an animal is beyond comprehension. How anyone can dump a creature as breathtaking as Cassidy defies all explanation. Cassidy was found in rural Alabama by a very kind woman who lives in the area where she found this beautiful Doberman. She then contacted a local rescue to try and get Cassidy some help and told them that she often finds animals abandoned in the area. Gulf Coast Doberman RescueAngels made sure that Cassidy was whisked off to a veterinarian who subsequently examined her and discovered an ACL tear. Cassidy is only 3 years old and will need her knee repaired to again enjoy all the running and playing an adolescent Dobe should partake.
Gulf Coast Doberman Rescue is going to be taking Cassidy to her surgical consult on the 20th, and she will have her surgery the next day if their vet agrees with the assessment made in AL. Though GCDR's veterinarian is very rescue friendly this surgery will still run into four figures. Please help Miss Cassidy and GCDR by sending a contribution now by making a donation using the PayPal button on the right or by mailing one in. NO amount is ever too small and 100% will go to dear Cassidy's treatment! She is young, gentle, and oh so beautiful. THANK YOU from Cassidy, GCDR and SND for your continuing support of Dobermans in Rescues and SND's efforts to do the same! Keeping SND's General Fund afloat is the only way we can be sure of being able to help the next Doberman who needs it!  Again, THANKS!!

Ruthie!

March, 2014: In this severe Ohio winter, during her senior years of life, Ruthie's "people" dumped her at the intersection of two country roads. Luckily she was found, saved and taken to a shelter to wait for her so-called family. The shelter knew no one was coming... she was between 8 and 10 years old and had been bred so often, she had huge mammary cysts - one of which had burst and was draining. Toni, Melissa and all RescueAngels are overrun with Dobes this horrible year, but could not say NO to this sweet old girl. She came to South West Ohio Doberman Rescue and in spite of her health, is a complete delight to all who meet her. There is every chance her breast cysts are benign, but she does have some suspicious swellings in her gums. She has no teeth from years of trying to chew out of a crate has destroyed them. In order to get comfy, she needs to be able to create a space below her for her cyst(s) to get to sleep... poor, poor girl! But, thanks to her Foster Mom, she has found the joys of love and care inside a house. AND, she has found the treat jar! She has managed to captivate everyone with her sweet courage and has yet to find a dog, person or animal she doesn't like. Although Ruthie is in a comfortable foster home, after she has her surgery, she will be looking for a home to love and value her for the rest of her life. Please join South West Ohio Doberman Rescue and SND in giving this girl her chance at a pain-free and loved life. No amount is ever too small and EVERY penny will go to the dogs! You may begin helping Ruthie by clicking on the PayPal button to the right. Please declare it a gift to be of even more help! You may also mail one in. Miss Ruthie so enchanted her Foster Mom Kelly, she inspired her to write this biography - Click Ruthie's bio to read her story now - it will make you happy to know there are such RescueAngels in the world!  We are making Miss Ruthie on of our new Cover Girls too, so look at another picture on our home page http://www.doberman911.org!! AND, you can also visit her on her very own Senior's Page http://www.doberman911.org/seniors/cases/oh_ruthie.html where she is seeking Sponsorship now and adoption when she's well! Blossom!

March, 2014: It's been almost three years since we've seen Miss Blossom when she was first rescued by San Antonio Doberman Rescue. Her name was Fire back then and her lot was to be chained outdoors, not fed and overbred by any passing dandy in those squalid conditions. A compassionate neighbor saw that she was deathly ill and seemed to be attempting to deliver yet again and she was taken to the vet. The vet at first thought she had a bad case of pyometra but actually she had four puppies she couldn't deliver. The neighbor and a small local rescue who had been contacted could not afford the life-saving surgery for Fire so SADAR and SND stepped in to assure that she underwent emergency surgery right then. She has lived at SADAR since then and has she ever blossomed - hence her new name... Miss Blossom!!  She has not been lucky enough to find a forever home but she has even more than that as she has become the Queen of SADAR...  Fast-forward to last week and Miss Blossom seemed to be a bit under the weather - the scariest part of that was her apparent coughing episodes - we all know that coughing and Dobes can be a serious harbinger of dreaded cardio issues - Miss Blossom's Senior Citizen status making her especially vulnerable.  Our friends at SADAR, like most Rescues nationwide, have felt the brunt of the economic situation as more and more Dobes flow in while they work hard to provide for them.  SND has pledged assistance but we need your help too!! You can begin now by making a donation using the PayPal button on the right or by mailing one in. NO amount is ever too small and 100% goes to your desginated Doberman! Thank you for your continuing support of Dobermans in Rescues and SND's efforts to do the same!

Noah!

March, 2014 - It is with much sadness that we report that Noah did not survive the real and figurative floods of adversity in his short life.  He left this world knowing that he was loved and cared for - Rest in Peace, shine brightly in the Night Sky forever as you take your place in Sirius' Garden.
February, 2014: This was definitely "The Year of the Flood" for this poor Noah!! Guestimated to be around 3 years old, Noah was pulled from an irrigation canal near Phoenix, Arizona. He had injuries and a severe upper respiratory infection that led the shelter to deem him unadoptable and so he was marked for euthanasia. He survived the flood only to be condemned once again!  The RescueAngels from Doberman Rescue of Nevada stepped up, assessed Noah and immediately took on the salvation of this very sweet boy. The canal from which AC pulled Noah is a concrete channel with steep sides from which animals can rarely escape. It is impossible to know how long he struggled to avoid drowning. The lingering effects of the canal water - whose quality can be pretty gruesome and many times includes runoff containing fecal matter and pesticides/herbicides - being aspirated and infecting wounds has made it difficult to make Noah fully healthy. He is a “drooler” and has exhibited some signs of possible immune mediated encephalitis. His jaw is difficult to open fully and he walks somewhat stiff-legged and seems somewhat depressed - all of which could be a function of his ordeal!! He is still underweight despite extra feeding but everyone is hoping that ridding his body of all the infections and trauma he sustained and showering him with good food and TLC will bring dear Noah through. Needless to say, diagnostics and veterinary attention are costly but DRNV has no intention of giving up on this DobeDude now that he's in the ark!  With OUR help - yours and SND's - we will help DRNV fulfill their promise to this Noah!! You can start now by making a donation using the PayPal button on the right or by mailing one in. NO amount is ever too small and 100% goes to your desginated Doberman! Thank you for your continuing support of Doberman Rescues and SND!

Charlotte!

February, 2014: This is now a B.A.D. = Born Again Doberman - Miss Charlotte!! She came into rescue with a broken leg and 7 weeks pregnant! She was only 11 months of age at the time! Unbelievable?  Well, NO, not really!!! Charlotte got away from her "caring owners" in October and was missing for two weeks. When she was finally found she had a broken radius and ulna and was also in her first heat cycle. Can you see where this is going?? The owners did take her to the vet and had surgery performed, but did not keep her quiet as prescribed by their vet. And, when it became evident that she was pregnant - with 8 pups, these (wonderful) owners took her back to the vet and wanted him to take her or put her down!!! NICE! Don't just kill Charlotte, kill all eight puppies too!! The vet told the owners to contact Doberman Rescue of Minnesota, which lucky for Charlotte & Pups, they did. Once Doberman Rescue of Minnesota Angels got her, the original vet re-xrayed Charlotte and found that the plates and pins had moved and the bone was healing at an angle and would require another corrective surgery. Obviously the surgery could not be done until the puppies were born and weaned. On December 27th of 2013, Charlotte delivered 8 healthy Dobe/Lab? mix puppies. Charlotte had her second surgery on February 3rd and hopefully it will be fully successful this time now that she's in the hands of CARING people. There was talk of amputation, but  they were hoping this will not be necessary. Charlotte's pups are all finding their forever homes now and Charlotte is being kept quiet and off of her leg until it is healed. We will not know for several weeks if this surgery was a success. Fingers and toes crossed, please!! As you can imagine this has been a very expensive endeavor on Charlotte's behalf. This beautiful little girl has been through tremendous trauma in her short life. Lost, scared, injured, pregnant and losing her family all in a very short span of time. DRM needs our help to pay for this surgery and we can't help them without your help! Please help Charlotte and DRM in any way you can and we will thank you from the bottom of our hearts, as will Charlotte and her newly adopted Angels at DRM. You can make a donation by using the PayPal button on the right or by mailing one in. NO amount is ever too small and 100% goes to your desginated Doberman! Thank you for your continuing support of Doberman Rescues and SND! And... bless you all!!!

Armani!

February, 2014: Hold onto your hats! Look left and you will see one of the most precious 8-month old DobeBoys to walk the face of the earth! Armani was a stray at the Tulare, California Animal Shelter and immediately swept volunteers off their feet with his quiet, warm ways. He's beautiful, sweet, BUT had a serious problem - volunteers immediately noticed Armani had a plumbing issue and he could not urinate normally. A volunteer took him home to wait for transport when the Rescue Angels from Doberman Pinscher Rescue of Fillmore stepped up to take him into their rescue and arrange for corrective surgery. Armani received his surgery to correct his problem and it was successful.  He is now ready to be adopted by someone very lucky as he had his jewels taken care of at the same time! He's now feeling wonderful, thanks to his DPR Angels Colleen and Ardis!  Doberman Pinscher Rescue of Fillmore rescues and rehabs many wonderful Dobermans, and their finances are strapped to the limit. Just recently, they had to make some very expensive modifications to their physical plant and money for the Dobes is running very low. They cannot help more dogs without your and SND's help! Sadly, there are always Dobermans in California that cannot get into rescue because of room and budget shortfalls, and Armani was very, very lucky to find Ardis to help him.  Please help Doberman Pinscher Rescue and SND's General Fund stay financially afloat by making a donation now - you can do this by using the Paypal button on the right or by mailing one in.  Remember, NO amount is ever too small and 100% goes to your desginated Doberman! Thank you for your continuing support of Doberman Rescues and SND!! Just looking at this beautiful baby and knowing you're helping him will warm your heart and soul. Thank you!!

Tina!

February, 2014: It's apparently RAINING Red DobeLadies and TWO of them with TWO blown knees!!  Meet Miss Tina - our Valentine's Day DobeLady in some really dire straits - TWO dire straits to be precise.  Both of Miss Tina's knees were so terribly damaged that they could not be repaired by the standard approaches taken in these instances.  That means out-of-the-ordinary expenses too - not just for one but both of these knees!  OUCH!! - for both Miss Tina AND for the limited financial resources of the RescueAngels at Distinguished Dobermans in Pennsylvania.  At least they have access to the best orthopedic expertise they can buy - expensive, very expensive but at least it is available.  Two knees to be done and further complicated by vWd and poor clotting time. So what to do? They are reaching out to all of us - SND and YOU and we all hope you will respond with a Valentine's donation for this precious Doberman Lady! Doesn't that face just reach out to your heart and say "Help Me, Please" - It certainly spoke to her RescueAngels and us too!! Miss Tina is such a loving Lady but she has needed a new beginning in her life for quite some time - her knees had been damaged for a long time with no treatment given. Her owner had been ill and unable to care for her for quite some time and has since died.  Tina had been left alone in that house until concerned friends contacted DDRI for help in finding her a new forever home AND help for those blown knees! Won't you be a part of her new beginning? You can join us in responding by making a donation using the Paypal button on the right or mailing one in.  Remember, NO amount is ever too small and 100% will go to Miss Tina's new knees!! Thank you all for your continuing support of Doberman Rescues and SND in our mission to help the Dobermans with extraordinary expenses that they rescue.

Vegas Sasha!

February, 2014: If you love red Dobergirls like I do, you have to see Sasha. Picked up as a stray and ending up in a shelter this beautiful little girl was very stressed after being there for a few weeks! Doberman Rescue of Nevada Angels were thankfully contacted about taking her to find a new home. The shelter said she was very healthy and DRNV already had a family looking for a red girl. But, when she arrived in rescue it was plain she had some health problems. Tests indicated she was borderline vWd and so her spay was considered high risk and more expensive than average. Thankfully, she came through the spay surgery fine and seemed ready to meet her new family when she began to urinate blood. Poor girl was obviously very uncomfortable. Vets were very worried that she might have a bladder tumor or worse, and so they did an ultrasound to see what the problem was. That and a series of blood tests showed it was a severe infection that had thickened the bladder walls and cause the internal bleeding. Sasha is being treated with heavy duty antibiotics and is expected to recover fully. But, she had to be hospitalized for monitoring for several days. More bad news - all this scared off the new adopters and they adopted another Doberman from elsewhere. Maybe that was good news after all! Of course all this left DRNV with a hefty vet bill and Sasha had to start all over again finding a family to love her. This 2 year old girl is very happy go lucky and is also a leaner, all she wants is a family to love her. But first we have to pay her bills and find someone who will give her the loving home she deserves. Just take a look at that smiling face - loving her won't be hard to do!!! DRNV and SND need your help with her vet bills, if you can find it in your heart to help this precious girl, we would appreciate it iso very much. You can donate by using the Paypal button on the right or mailing in a donation. No amount is ever too small and every penny will go to settle Miss Sasha's expenses! Thank you all for your sacrifices to help these wonderful Dobes.

Annabelle!

February, 2014: Miss Annabelle first met the angels at Second Chance Dobes when she was 6 months old, she needed a home and got one. Unfortunately the time came when the update wasn't good. She had been ill for a few weeks. She hadn't eaten anything in a full week. She was being treated with antibiotics but their vet felt she needed immediate exploratory surgery or euthanasia. Her family could not afford the surgery so they returned her to Second Chance Dobes and signed her back over to them. Second Chance RescueAngels Arda, Sarah and all the Angels there knew the surgery must be done immediately and she got a THIRD Chance!! When Dr. Karen Wroblewski at Allen Animal Clinic actually got her hands on Annabelle it was 8pm, she was in shock and her body temperature was dangerously low. Although the odds looked bad for this little girl, she pulled through thanks to Dr. Karen and her strong will to live. She was terribly thin; it took a while for her to heal and regain her strength. When she was ready to take a careful turn around the yard, Arda saw another problem immediately. Poor little Annabelle went back to Dr. Karen. She had a funny gait and was obviously in pain. She would stick her leg out oddly when she tried to sit. X-rays showed torn cruciate ligaments in BOTH rear legs. No way was Arda going to stop now and off Annabelle went to Dr. Wright, orthopedic surgeon at Gasgow Vet. Hospital. Annabelle had her first surgery January 24th, and it was successful. She will now have to heal and re-hab before her other knee is repaired. This poor girl is barely 2 years old and she has months of surgeries and recuperation ahead of her, more than enough to test that strong will to live. In spite of the circumstances, she is still a real sweetheart - she loves other dogs, kids and cuddling. Add up these expenses for obstruction surgery, two torn ACL's and you'll see what 2nd Chance has paid for her care - they think she's worth EVERY cent - and so do we and we hope you will too!! Please consider joining Second Chance Dobes and SND in helping this little girl live a long, healthy life. She deserves to know rescue is a good thing and there is a forever family out there just for her. You can begin helping Annabelle by clicking on the PayPal button to the right or by mailing one in. Sasha!

January, 2014: Introducing Miss Sasha! This young, one year old red beauty was dumped at a shelter in Ohio by none other than her former owner. Who knows what her short life was like up to this point as she was not only a timid little girl, she was also emaciated and had a painful and unattended to leg injury. To no surprise, the uncaring owner claimed to have no idea how the injury occurred. Subsequently, X-rays were taken which revealed a totally torn knee! Oww!! Now, no furbaby wants to be left at an animal shelter, however, that very action was Sasha's saving grace when the RescueAngels of Distinguished Dobermans Rescue became aware of her. DDR took little Sasha under their wing and nursed her to a weight where she became healthy enough to have the necessary TPLO surgery. Miss Sasha had her surgery now and she's recovering very well! After healing, Sasha will be able to live a painfree life! DDR steps up for so many Dobes with physical and surgical needs and SND would like to help ease their financial burdens but we can't do it without your help! A donation in any amount is humbly appreciated - you can donate by clicking on the PayPal button to the right, or by mailing one in. No donation is ever too small and 100% of your gift goes to the Dobes. Won't you please join SND in helping our Rescues who do so much for the homeless, the abandoned and the unloved, unwanted Dobes in need? We help Dobermans like Sasha with our vital General Funds - please help keep this fund afloat!!

Duke!

January, 2014: Say hello to The Duke once again!  You first met him in May of 2012 after he had been dumped at the shelter because he couldn't walk, or so it was said by the dumpers. Read about The Duke's first encounter with the RescueAngels from Doberman Pinscher Rescue here http://www.doberman911.org/newcases.html . The Duke became a very much loved fixture around there and he has been in their care ever since.  He has been doing really well and even though he hasn't been adopted, he's been a very happy California Dude - until last November when he bloated! He underwent emergency surgery to save his life but in December, he had another gastric dilatation but luckily without torsion. There's likely no need to tell you how very expensive emergency care is and this goes double!  DPR does an amazing amount of work with what they are able to raise but this has really broken the bank!  Won't you help us keep them afloat?  Of course, keeping the vital General Fund afloat is the only way we are able to start the process of assisting Dobermans in Rescue.  Please start right away by clicking on the PayPal button to the right or by mailing your donation in. SND and DPR are so grateful for your support. No amount is ever too small to help these precious ones and fully 100% of your donation will go to The Duke's care! Thanks to your previous support when The Duke needed you, he is now a Senior and also graces the pages on the Senior Doberman Project! You can visit him here and perhaps even sponsor him for some extras too!!  Check him out here http://www.doberman911.org/seniors/cases/ca_duke.html . We all THANK YOU for your continuing support!!

Drago!

February, 2014: Dear Master Drago has had his successful surgery thanks to all of you who supported this little Dude! He came through like a champ, surgical goals were accomplished and he is on his way to a perfect recovery after a bit of a convalescence with his Dragon Mom & Dad, Leslie & Mike!!  THANK YOU everyone from a loving little Dragon and his RescueAngels!!
January, 2014: Meet our littlest Dragon of 2014!!  Presenting Mr. Drago who has already met good fortune by falling into the hands of the RescueAngels at Doberman Rescue of North Carolina!!  But, don't uncross your paws now - we need to keeps them crossed for even more wonderful news!! At 4 months old, Drago's problem began to surface... Drago has an angular limb deformity of his left front leg. The former owners saw no abnormality when they bought him at 6 weeks of age. As time went by, they noticed the foot was rotating laterally. Currently, his leg has twisted resulting in foot rotation of almost 90 degrees, and the radius and ulna are misshapen. The former owners took Drago to an orthopedic specialist in their area, but the surgery costs were prohibitively expensive. They were told about DRNC RescueAngels and contacted them about taking Drago so he can get the medical care he needs. Drago has been seen by DRNC’s primary vet for an exam and referral to the NCSU Vet School. In her first impression, without the benefits of radiographs, it appears Drago sustained an injury to a growth plate(s) when very young and that injury is causing his radius and ulna to grow abnormally. Drago has an appointment with the NCSU VTH Orthopedic department on January 8th for diagnostics and to create a game plan. DRNC tells us this little man has a temperament to die for. He is loving, gentle, and absolutely adorable. He comes to DRNC with legacy of love. It is heartwarming to no that his people proved to be selfless in wanting to be sure Drago will get the care he needs to have the full and wonderful life he so deserves!! DRNC will get this boy to the top orthopedist at the NC State Vet School, and, with your help, we’ll get this little dragon flying right!! Won't you be a part of what takes to see that happen?? You can start right now by clicking on the PayPal button to the right or by mailing your donation in. SND and DRNV greatly appreciate your love and support. No amount is ever too small to help these precious ones and fully 100% of your donation goes to Mr. Drago's care! Keeping SND's vital General Fund afloat allows us to help the RescueAngels out there continue to try and end the daily suffering of all the Dobes that cross their paths! THANK YOU and happy Dragon smiles to you in 2014!!
