Mitzie
came from the SPCA with little more than a nasty collar and a
filthy coat. She has since been in foster care and has truly
blossomed. Mitzie is approximately 9 years old, black and rust,
has natural ears, a docked tail, and spayed.
Regarding Mitzie’s personality, her foster
mom writes,
“She's very spooky at first - shy, maybe hackles up because
she's scared... BUT... once she gets to know you? A gem. Really.
Shows NO sign of her age (9) - she's a black and rust beauty
with natural ears.
She gets along with cats - mine are very dog savvy,
and in the case of one - very invasive (he rubs against them).
She was freaked
at first, but she's fine now. Although I think cat stalking is
a favorite activity - the cats tolerate her 4 inches from her
face while they're chilling, but I discourage her. And she IS
learning.
She needs to get to know people - and is protective of the house
if I'm not here. Once she gets to know them (maybe only after
one meeting!) she'll greet them at the door with a toy, or if
one isn't available, a sock (she's wonderful at picking up your
laundry!), a toothpaste box or a pad of paper. Whatever is available!
She's a true joy to come home to!
ALWAYS up for a ride in the car and a trip inside
the pet store! She's fine off leash in my yard. Doesn't go after
other dogs,
but should be introduced if they are always around. Loves toys
without TOO many things inside - or she'll decimate it eventually.
Eats dry, Iams Active Senior. Likes pressed rawhide
bones, and her soft booda toy (still intact). Really. I love
this dog. I want to continue to foster and help dogs in crisis
- so I would like her to go to an excellent home.
She deserves one.”
Mitzie's Excellent Home!
Mitzie's foster mom, Ginny O'Neil, wrote the following about Mitzie's new home:
"Mitzie has been adopted just four months after having been rescued from
the Montgomery County SPCA. Her new family consists of a mom and a dad and
their 13 year old son. She also has plenty of cats to keep her company!
They fell in love with Mitzie the first time they came to visit her, and
quickly set the adoption wheels into motion. I was able to tell truthfully the joys of owning a senior dog, and I'll continue to foster seniors for the same reasons. She is truly a joy to have and this family
knows how lucky they are! THANKS!"
