Ten
year old Lucy came to Bluegrass Doberman Rescue through a former
adopter and now foster in another state. She was being used
by a small All Breed rescue to raise funds. Lucy came from
a horrific situation where they were making her live outside and
she was so fearful of her owner she would urinate when he came
close to her. He claims her head was bitten by the father
dog but this was verified not to be true during a recent vet visit.
It was thought the owner himself did this to her since
he was already in trouble with the law for child abuse.
Her head is severely deformed and her teeth are in awful shape.
She was having trouble walking and honestly in so much
pain they weren’t sure they could help Lucy. The vet decided
to give her a shot of Librela and so far it has done wonders for
her. Her foster mom said she couldn’t believe the
difference. The Librela saved her life. She no longer paces screaming
and trying to bite. She is able to lie down, relax, take
naps though out the day and sleep all night. Lucy is trying
to make friends with all the dogs in the home actually approaching
them on her own. She loves her blankets, beds, stuffies,
human touch but most of all food. Lucy has found her voice
and barks to protect her home. She’s so sweet and
is now doing great. She is also very willing to follow commands
and her resource guarding is gone. She’s an entirely
different dog!
Special
Needs If Any: With keeping up her Librela and follow up
dental, she's a new Lady.
Geographic
areas you adopt to: Kentucky and surrounding states and
will adopt outside that area if a home visit can be arranged and
the people are willing to travel to meet the Dobe in their foster
home.
