Meet
Stunning Shelby !!
Let
me show you who I am...
And...
pretty is not ALL I am!!
I am longing to belong... again!! You game??
Shelby
is a 9-year-old, black, cropped, female Doberman who was
surrendered when her family suddenly found themselves without
a home. They wanted what was best for Shelby so they turned
to us, and we are pleased to give her a place to stay. Shelby
is what we refer to as a UNICORN! She is good with children,
small dogs, and is incredibly well-mannered and well cared
for. Her previous owners report that she is nervous around
large dogs. Due to that and her age, she would probably
appreciate being the only large dog in the home. Her previous
owner reports that she also gets along with birds and rabbits,
so she can be placed into a household with small animals
– and would likely be good with cats, although she
has no known history with them. She would be ok placed in
a household with children 7 and up who are respectful of
large, older breeds. While obedience is never a bad idea,
Shelby is so awesome that we are not requiring an obedience
deposit at this time.
Shelby
is used to having a lot of room to roam around on and grew
up frolicking around many acres of land. She would be suited
just fine for a home with an e-fence or leash walks only
– as long as you use a harness. Due to her age, she
does not require much exercise but still has a lot of Dober-spunk!
Shelby has mild spondylosis, which is curvature of the spine.
She does have a lump where the curve is located, and we
performed laser therapy on it. She would be best suited
in a ranch-style home with little to no stairs, and would
probably appreciate carpeted floors or someone willing to
use floor runners. Unfortunately she did come to us positive
for anaplasmosis – which is a tick-borne disease.
She is receiving 30 days of a strong antibiotic and will
be available around the New Year for adoption. If you would
love a laid back, mature Doberman that does not require
much fuss, Shelby is your gal!
