Josie
Jo and Mojo are an 8-year-old pair that originally arrived
to IDR+ from a shelter in Arkansas. They were recently adopted,
but the elderly father later moved in, and he kept tripping
over them, so they were reluctantly returned. This beautiful
pair of littermates are stuck like glue, and hope to find
a home to adopt them together. Mojo and Josie Jo love attention
from their people. Both love to get their ears rubbed, and
Mojo is learning to enjoy a good massage to help loosen
his muscles. He came to us moving very stiff, and being
confined for his heartworm treatment didn’t help.
He has since recovered from his treatment and both are ready
to go! His mobility is greatly improving now with regular
exercise and supplements. He is beginning to run around
the yard and stretch his legs! Josie Jo is also on an inexpensive
daily supplement to help control very common leaking. They
both need to go out often to pee.
Both
dogs are a little shy about changes. They are learning to
accept new things and gain more confidence every day, but
they are pretty set in their ways. Introductions to new
dogs makes Josie Jo a little nervous, and Mojo does not
seem to appreciate high-energy dogs. They are strongly bonded
to each other, and while we will continue to take it slow,
they would probably be best placed in a household where
they were the only two dogs. If you need a reason to be
limited to two dogs, they’re the perfect package deal!
They have an unknown history with cats and are recommended
for children 12 and over, who are respectful and laid back
with large breed dogs. We are not requiring an obedience
deposit for this pair; however, we are requiring a fence
since they love to lounge around in the sun and take it
easy. If you have space for this sweet pair of bonded seniors,
it would be incredible to find them a retirement home together!
