Greta is a beautiful girl. We don’t like to dwell on a dog’s past, but this poor girl spent some of her past 10 years alternating between a pen outside and a crate in the basement. We are told she had the run of the house before an elderly family member moved in and relegated Greta to a crate. Thankfully, they realized that was not a good life, so they gave her up to their local rural shelter, who reached out to IDR+ for help. She is safe with us now and is headed to the vet for a full work up. She has a small mammary lump that will be removed, and we will otherwise make sure she has a clean bill of health. After meeting her, it’s hard to believe Greta is 10. She has decent teeth, bright eyes, and a spunky personality. We were told she lived with other dogs, but like most female Dobes, she will stand her ground when challenged; however, she never started anything, herself. We always recommend slow intros with existing dogs. Her temporary foster before she arrived here said she enjoyed half-mile leash walks twice a day. Greta has no history with kids, but she chased the cats, chickens, and other animals on a small farm. At this time in her life, we assume she’d prefer a home without kitties or kids. If you have an extra spot on your couch for a gorgeous lady, Greta is your girl!
