Meet
Fabulous Finn!!
With a name like Finn - He's bound to bring you the Luck
O' The Irish!!
Finn
is a 7-year-old and 70-pound gentle boy who is looking for
a new forever home! Finn has so many wonderful qualities.
Finn gets along great with male and female dogs of all sizes–cats
too! Finn is trained and knows sit, down, wait, easy (around
babies and seniors) and slow (when walking on a leash or
eating his food). He will come, sit, and down with only
a finger snap and point command. If you say ‘mommy
first’ when going through doors or up and down stairs,
he will wait. Finn walks great on leash. In addition, Finn
is housebroken and crate-trained. He likes nylabones, but
no stuffies for this boy! Finn is a ladies’ man and
follows the women of the house around to be near them constantly;
at first, it does take him a few days to warm up to them.
With men, Finn can tolerate getting petted and affection
from them, but he might not ever warm up to them the same
way he does with women. If your family is looking for a
woman’s best friend, Finn is your guy!
Finn
came into IDR+ when he was around 4 years old, after being
rescued from living in a terrible situation. During his
time with IDR+, he thrived in his foster home with the unlimited
amount of patience, kindness, and stability that was given
to him for the first time in his life! He was fostered in
a home with dogs and those dogs helped Finn come out of
his shell. Therefore, we required Finn to be placed in a
home with another dog. He was adopted out over 2.5 years
ago by a family that did have another dog at home. As expected,
Finn relied on his confident dog friend to lead him and
to help boost his own confidence. During Finn’s time
with his adoptive family, he did great with the women in
the home but was nervous around the men. Unfortunately,
when the other dog passed away, Finn regressed. According
to the family, Finn would flee every time a man entered
the room Finn was in. The family decided it was best to
return Finn back to us. We are hoping that Finn gets adopted
into a new forever family that will accept him as he is
and will always have a constant dog companion around. Finn
should also be fine with children 10 and up.
Finn’s
previous family took him to the vet right before he came
back to IDR+, and the vet heard a very slight heart murmur
(1/6). Because Dobermans are no strangers to heart issues,
we took him to a cardiologist for an echocardiogram, and
the good news is the murmur is very minor, and there are
NO signs of DCM or any other cardiac issues. At this time,
Finn is an otherwise healthy boy who (like all Dobermans)
just needs an owner who understands the health risks associated
with the breed. The vet recommends a checkup in a year to
make sure there are no changes..
