Aslan!
ASLAN
Why Aslan you ask? This big, huggable, red, senior
guy from Indiana came to us via the kindhearted animal shelter
crew he ended up with after they got a call from a local farmer
that he was roaming his property. They saw the potential Aslan
has to offer; awesome companionship, love and devotion to those
who decide to receive and share the same in return.
Which brings us to the name Aslan. Aslan fits appropriately
since this guy is a big sweetie with a huge heart and who really
looks very noble (although his pictures don't quite do him justice)!
He even has a bit of a "mane" as his hair is slightly
longer in his shoulder area. He is a solid boy up front with big
"lion" paws. Additionally, he has the wisdom of an 8-10
year old senior to round off his charming personality. He quickly
incorporated himself into his foster family and has been getting
along very well with his two sibling cats (even despite one who
feels the need to occasionally remind Aslan, with an unclawed
swat, who is really the top "dog" of the household)
and sibling Australian Shepherd/Blue Heeler female.
Aslan loves to ride in the car, go outside for a
little easy-going fun, snuggle up on the couch with his foster
mom and just simply be part of the family. He has a nice hefty
alarm bark, which he appropriately reserves for times he feels
it is needed. Unfortunately, however, Aslan does show some muscle
atrophy and unsteadiness in his hind end which could very well
be indicative of Wobblers. Due to this he is now starting a regular
schedule of acupuncture. He is proving to be a very good patient
and a very awesome Doberman. He accompanies his foster mom to
work on occasion and does quite well.
He would do best in a quiet home with minimal stairs
and no children. It is suspected, that since he seeks out his
foster mom's shoes when she is gone (doesn't chew them, just lays
with them on the couch), Aslan really appreciates the company
of his foster sister when no humans are around. His foster sister,
whom he really seems to adore (he likes to lick her face), appears
to help provide him a little extra spark in energy during the
day too. Contact foster mom Tamara via email at tfoss@apcc.aspca.org

to wear his new Dober Duds (http://ildoberescue.com/doberduds.htm)
collar and leash, thanks to a donation from Rosi Alvarado.
