Angel
was originally found stray last year. She was taken to Seminole
Co. Animal Services and later adopted by a family who had her
for nearly 9 months. When the first storm of the season hit (Jan.'03)
she ripped up their carpet in fear. Her family tried to crate
her, but she ripped her way out of there. She was returned to
the shelter, and later he foster mom picked her up. She was found
terribly depressed and scared even though she was given lots
of special treatment and was not kept in the main kennel. Her
foster mom brought her home in Feb.'03.
About Angel: Angel is black and tan, 10-12 years young, cropped,
docked, and spayed. Angel is a perfect companion. She loves going
anywhere with her foster mom and is a great car passenger. She
is housebroken but tends to pee herself when she gets scared
of a noise. She is good on leash and does not know a stranger.
Angel is gentle with her foster mom’s small dogs and cats.
She does not get on the furniture but likes cushy dog beds. She
will follow her foster mom until she tires, then finds a central
place to lay down where she can still watch mom. She enjoys chewing
on bones but does not really play. She will chase or slowly trot
after squirrels in the yard. She gives the sweetest kisses and
is a leaner. Her fear of storms and noises is serious. It is
heartbreaking to see how she reacts. She has shoved herself into
a small dog crate during a storm. Whoever adopts her must be
committed to keeping her safely crated and muzzled when leaving
her alone. She cannot be kept loose or she will hurt herself.
Angel is a special soul who has been through a tremendous amount.
She needs stability, understanding and love. She does not need
to be in a home with small children, since they are noisy. She
would be better to have some sort of animal company in the home.
Medical Condition: She is beginning to develop cataracts and
has some fatty tumors. Her muscles in her back end have atrophied.
She has some arthritis in her spine. She cannot bark more than
a whisper. Her blood work indicated she is healthy and her heart
is strong. She has some broken teeth. She is on no medication
other than monthly heartworm/flea meds, and a supplement for
the arthritis and general senior dog conditions.
