Honey!
You may remember Honey from an earlier listing. Diagnosed with severe skin allergies,
she needs a series of serum injections to raise her immunities. Her new parents did not
fulfill their responsibilities for maintaining her medical needs, so Honey is back up
for adoption looking for caring parents who can manager her illness properly.
Luckily, her condition is improving very well. The vets are excited to see how
fast she has recovered. They feel the recovery is remarkable for a dog of her years.
She has a couple of age-related internal matters, none of which should impact quality
or length of life. She is up to, as of mid-November, 69.7 lbs, which is a marked
improvement from the 53 lbs she weighed when returned for adoption. Her allergy
injections are now at a once a month interval.
Honey is between 9-10 years, red, cropped, docked, and spayed. Honey was certainly
aptly named and is a very sweet and loving dog. She’s a little bit shy at first,
but she loves attention and soaks it up like a sponge. It does not appear that she
has been taught basic commands, having been strictly an outdoor dog 24/7 for the past
4-5 years, although she walks very nicely on a leash and loves to survey the neighborhood.
She also enjoys riding in the car, lying in the sun, and hanging out with her canine
foster sister when foster Mom is gone. She is not at all aggressive towards other dogs,
but wouldn't enjoy the company of a dog that would pester her. She doesn’t currently
have much contact with children but would most likely be fine with children of at least
school age. Even though she has been an outdoor dog for a long time, she loves being an
indoor dog! She will be a delightful companion and would probably prefer to be somewhere
where she doesn't have to be left alone for long stretches, since she does experience
some mild separation anxiety. She is a classic red Doberman and deserves to be placed
with kind, loving and patient people who will give her time and attention.

Because of Honey’s skin sensitivity, Doberman Rescue of
Colorado would prefer to place her in an area where fleas, mites,
and allergens do not thrive. For additional information, as well
