Omega
is an 8-year-old black and tan spayed girl with a docked tail,
cropped ears, and no known medical issues. She had been surrendered
to a shelter because of dog-aggression, and was adopted from
the shelter shortly before her scheduled euthanasia date. Unfortunately
Omega also became aggressive with the rescuer’s submissive
greyhound. She is now looking for, and needs, a home with Dobe-savvy
people where she will be the only dog.
Omega is housebroken, crate trained, very affectionate, obedient,
and loves to please. She has never shown aggression toward people.
Both her original owner and her current caregiver said that Omega
allows them to pet her and move or remove her food bowl while
she’s eating with no adverse reaction from her at all.
Nor has she shown destructive behavior in the house, other than
to chew the stuffing out of her favorite stuffed toy (a zebra).
She is territorial to the extent that she will bark to warn of
someone walking around the property.
She has not lived with children and her exposure to them has
been minimal. Nonetheless, she has never shown any irritation
with or aggression toward children she would meet on walks. As
to kitties, Omega’s current caregiver states, “I'm
not 100% comfortable with her around cats now. I thought I did
a good job of socializing her with my cats. Initially she wanted
to eat my cats for lunch, but over the last two months that I've
worked with her she has gotten along very well with them. Although
she’s a little too interested in my white cat.”
Due to Omega’s history of dog aggression, she will only
be placed in a home without other dogs. Because she can’t
be completely trusted around kitties, a home without cats is
strongly preferred.
