"Hello All,

Joni had surgery today. When I went to check on her, Bud had just finished surgery and taken an xray. The leg had lost about 1 1/2 inch of length, and he stretched it back out maybe an inch. She has an 8mm bone pin in her femur, secured by two screws on each end. He took a bone graft from her shoulder to repair the pieces that had split off on either side of the broken bone. There is a small piece of cartilage damaged on her knee where the other side of the first pin was trying to pierce the bone there, too. Bud is worried about permanent damage to the knee, but we will have to watch and see. Physical therapy will benefit the muscle she has lost.
