Jimmy
Jimmy is a one year old owner turn-in to Doberman Rescue of Colorado (he had been purchased at a
pet store). He is a sweet red neutered boy with natural ears. Unfortunately, Jimmy has a bad case
of mange. He had been placed once but the mange developed into an issue with his new people so
they returned him to the rescue group. The vet has now recommended that the condition be treated
aggressively. First, will be an analysis to determine if there are auto immune issues in addition
to the demodex mange. So at this stage we are looking at a complete bloodwork-up followed by a
couple of dips. Then the meds will probably include oral ivermectin.
Doberman Rescue of Colorado has been very hard recently with cases that require out of the
ordinary medical expenses. Out of the dozen current cases they are asking for support for this
particular case. We thank you for any help that you can offer!
Updates:
January 30, 2005 - Jimmy is still in foster care. He had his second clear skin scrapes
and full recovery from the demodex is expected. Jimmy is continuing on the ivermectin treatments for
another month. If his third skin scrape is clear at that time he'll be in the clear....
