Dobermans Currently in Need
Our organization exists to help Special Needs and Senior Dobermans. As we collect money, we will disburse funds to help Dobermans that have been brought to our attention. The money for a particular case may come from contributions from members and other concerned people, as well as fund raising activities such as our auctions. Money from the SND General Fund may be added on a case by case basis.
If you would like to contribute to the well being of a Dobe featured here, please mail us a donation with the name of the girl or boy in the memo field. There are also PayPal Donate buttons with each Dobe so you can make a donation online. Can't decide which dog to help? Simply note on your check that the money is for the SND General Fund, or use the General Fund PayPal button on the main page. All donations are tax deductible, and of course, greatly appreciated. You will receive a thank you note that will serve as your receipt. All of our donors and disbursements are listed on this web site. We are always looking for items to auction off for our special friends. If you have any items that you would like to donate, please let us know!
What follows is a list of the Dobes that we are currently trying to help. Each Dobe will have an introduction followed by a link that will take you to the complete case history and other photos - just click on the link to get there. Keep in mind those pages may take a little longer to arrive since they have larger pictures. Please feel free to email SND and we will try to answer any questions you may have regarding a case. Finally, we hope these cases will inspire more people to join our SND cause!

Scarlet is a
one year old red female introduced to us by Gayle Hall at SC Doberman Rescue.
She has a number of health issues to deal with. Scarlet has a severe skin
condition called Demodex, and her lymph nodes are swollen. The most disturbing
issue though was that she was about one month pregnant when turned over to
Gayle, and the fetuses had died. This was causing Scarlet all sorts of toxicity
and clotting problems with her blood. She is on the long road to recovery,
but isn't out of the woods yet. We're asking for your help to make sure this
poor girl makes it through these problems. You can see a larger picture of
Scarlet and read more about her condition on Scarlet's
Page. Thanks very much!
Dion
is a black and tan male between 18 and 24 months. Our friends at Doberman
Assistance Rescue and Education and his foster mom Jeannie tell us that
Dion is suffering from an unknown illness which causes him a great deal of
pain. He can't fully extend his front legs out. This causes him to lurch while
he struggles to run. This young boy goes outside ready to play like a healthy
Dobe should, but then limps back to the house shortly thereafter because of
the pain. While they are searching for a diagnosis of his condition, his bills
are mounting. Please go to Dion's Page to read more
about this young boy in need of your help. Thanks!
This
adorable little girl named Brady is four weeks old in this picture, five weeks
as of 11/18. Gayle Hall with SC Dobe Rescue introduced us to the tyke. A cord
from the right aorta which is supposed to drop off after birth remained attached
and was wrapped around her esophagus. This prevented her from eating and put
her young life in danger. Emergency surgery was performed to save her. We're
asking for your help to make sure she can recover and begin her life as a
loved Dobe! You can read more about her on Brady's Page.
Thanks for helping this little puppy!
Parker!
Parker
is a 1 to 2 year old male Dobe found as a stray by animal control in North Carolina.
He had been hit by a car and his rear leg shattered. When no one claimed him
at the shelter, Doberman Rescue of the Triad (DRT) was contacted. The beautiful,
red with rust Doberkid is only 53 lbs. After a long transport, Parker is now
under expert veterinary care. He needs it! Parker will have to undergo extensive
surgery to have his leg set, braced and restored to normal use. Estimated costs
are presently in the $1,500 range for the necessary orthopedic medical procedures
to be performed. He will also need follow-up visits and medications. DRT is
doing all they can, but they need help!
SND is asking everyone to help make sure this poor boy recovers so that he can regain the approximately 30 lbs. that he has lost. More importantly though, he can also find a loving family and live the life of love he deserves so much. Please make a donation for Parker using the PayPal button below or by mailing us a donation. Please remember, every dollar helps! We will have some auctions coming up for our boy. You can read Parker's full story and see more pictures in Parker's Photo Gallery by visiting Parker's Page. Thanks so much!
Jasmine!
Jasmine
is an eleven year old rescue who got into a fight with another family dog. A
large wound was opened on her neck. Despite immediate care, the wound eventually
became severely infected and required follow-up surgery. This included the insertion
of drains, blood transfusions, and antibiotics. The infection still threatens
Jasmine's life, and she will require follow up visits with the doctor. SND is
now trying to raise money for Jasmine's bills so she can recover from this terrible
wound. You can read Jasmine's story as told by his mom on Jasmine's
page.
We ask that you make a donation for Jasmine using the PayPal button below or by mailing us a donation. Please remember, every dollar counts! We will have some auctions running for Jasmine, you can see them on our Current Auctions page. Our first auction is an absolutely beautiful Doberman quilt donated by Jeanette Jordan, a longtime friend of SND and Dobermans. Please help us help Jas! Thanks very much!
Hope!
Hope is
a senior black/tan female in Manchester, TN. She was found on the roadside next
to some garbage on October 8th, 2002. Shortly before being found, Hope's leg
was broken. The kind woman who saved her had Hope's leg splinted and then contacted
Teri Dugan for help. SND member Mary Lynn Bushong contacted Teri and now SND
has taken on Hope as one of our own! The surgery to put external stabilizing
pins in her leg has been performed and Hope is doing well! She is still at the
vet's office for observation. The estimated cost for all aspects of the surgery
as well as a heartworm test and boarding is $500 - $550.
SND needs your help to make sure this poor girl's recovery is paid for! We ask that you make a donation for Hope using the PayPal button below or by mailing us a donation. Please remember, no donation is too small! We will have some auctions coming up for Hope. You can see more pictures of Hope and read more about her ordeal on Hope's Page. If you would like to contact Teri Dugan about Hope, you can email her here. Thanks for your help. As always, it is much appreciated!
Gunner is a one year old puppy that had to have emergency surgery to remove a towel he had eaten. His owner tried every avenue she could for assistance, then she found SND. Given that he was in grave danger, we authorized the emergency surgery to save his life. It was that close. Gunner is recovering and moving around well. His bill however isn't doing so well. The vets did a great job on the surgery, but because of the emergency situation and the amount of post-op care he had to have, the bill came to $1,369. We ask that you make a donation for Gunner's care using the PayPal button below or by mailing us a donation. Please remember, no donation is too small! We will have some auctions coming up for Gunner starting the weekend of August 31st. You can see pictures of Gunner and read more about his ordeal on Gunner's Page. Thanks for your help. As always, it is much appreciated
