We are an all-volunteer organization of people with a common goal of helping Senior and special needs Doberman Pinschers. That need may be financial for Doberman Rescue Groups, or it may be only information and/or moral support for the owner of a Doberman with a serious illness or injury. We will also aid Rescue Groups in rehoming and fostering senior Dobermans they may place under their care. The financial aid we provide may come from donations, occasional online auctions or SND Store sales. Every precaution is taken to assure that the need is real. SND maintains an "every penny" rule which guarantees that 100% of donations to the care of Dobermans is used ONLY for that purpose. Administrative costs are covered with proceeds from our online store, by designated donations and by occasional auctions specifically for that purpose.

HELP ME
Give me the ugly dog with one eye, three legs,
and help me show that they're more than just a form and a face.
Give me the scarred dog, burned and slashed with hate,
and help me lead it away from that terrible fate.
Give me the deaf and blind dog, and help me show it the way
in the silence and dark of each of their days.
Give me the shutdown dog, depressed of mind,
and help me cherish their soul until their fears unwind.
Give me the old dog, bent and broken with age,
and help me fill their last days with an unending grace.
Give me the ugly dog, I'll leave the pretty one for you,
and help me show them they're worthy of love and joy, too.

Meet The SNDobes Helped With General Funds!!
These Special Needs Dobermans were helped with one-time grants from our most important fund, the General Fund. This fund is used to help Dobermans fortunate enough to find themselves in Rescue Groups. Assistance is only provided for extraordinary expenses. These grants can be augmented by your generous contributions to any of these precious Dobes!! Private owners will be provided the necessary information to help them fundraise for their own Dobes as well as being given information to reduce their costs for medications and ways to seek additional information about Doberman illnesses.

December,
2023:
The return
of Miss Bella! Almost 3 years later and now a Senior Lady, she's
come a long way and only gotten more... well, BELLA!! Most ALL of her
problems have resolved but the cyst on the sternum area has become troublesome
and suspicious quickly! Thought to be a harmless cyst for years,
it began growing and swelling to tangerine size in a few days.
Vet time! Cyst was drained and preliminary cytology looked good.
Other tests are still pending but we all hope this was a local irritation
like an infected follicle. Her initial surgery in this area was
deep and extensive and no further surgery is being considered now unless
there's an indication of cancer. Please consider helping bella BELLA
get through this scare - donating is as easy as a click or a stamp -
donations links still apply as listed in her original case below.
And, now she has a Seniors Page too so send her some love there too!

Jacey!!
|
December, 2023: Miami is a lovely town to go for a walk in late October. On one of these lovely days, a wonderful resident of Miami, a kind soul, decided to go for a leisurely stroll around the neighborhood and found something unexpected and beautiful - as well as heartbreaking. As she approached a parked car, our MA (Miami Angel :) saw a dear, frightened young Dobergirl hiding under the vehicle. This lovely young dog carried no identification, no collar, no chip... such a beautiful young girl, completely abandoned and clearly in trouble. This beautiful girl is now named Jacey. Our heroine, contacted Doberman Rescue League and the DRL Warriors immediately scooped up this little sweetheart and brought her to their veterinarian for intake evaluation. At approximately 3 years young, Jacey was not only emaciated, she's also heartworm positive. Doberman Rescue League is sadly very familiar with treating heartworm and has started sweet Jacey on ridding her of this awful parasite. They also have started Jacey on some good groceries and she's putting on some weight, which will strengthen her for her victory in the HW treatment battle to come. Despite being found alone, starving and dirty, Jacey is a happy and sweet DobeGirlie and she is bringing cheer and love to her rescuers and everyone else who is lucky enough to cross paths with her. She is a living testament of Doberman resilience, courage and love. The stellar angels at Doberman Rescue League have changed the lives of countless Dobermans, an expensive endeavor, which cannot be achieved without the help of selfless volunteers and generous donors. Treating heartworm is expensive and it's very uncomfortable and can be life-threatening for the dog being treated with arsenic-containing immiticide. DRL has vowed to get Jacey treated and make her as safe and comfortable as possible during her treatment and she will be spayed when she is healthy enough for surgery. But they need your help! Special Needs Dobermans is supporting the Doberman Rescue League to help raise funds for dear Jacey's treatment. Please open your wallets to help this beautiful young Dobergirl by sending a few dollars to help Jacey get well. It's a holiday gift that will help save a life! It's easy AND Secret Santa will match your donation until 12/31/23!! Just click on your preferred method, either PayPal or USPS. One look at the hopeful happiness on this DobeGirlie's face!! Just click right here https://www.doberman911.org! THANK YOU!! Leslie Michell-Young, Jacey's SND Case Manager.
Misty!!
|
December, 2023:
Misty is sweetness
overload! One of her best friends is a horse who adores her!
Who wouldn’t? Misty is a gorgeous 11-year-old fawn Lady.
Her life hasn’t been easy. Her owner was pretty elderly and
was not taking care of her very well so off to the shelter she needed
to go. The Doberman Rescue Pack out of Shoreline, Washington plucked
her from the shelter due to the extreme kennel stress she was exhibiting.
Once she was evaluated, it was found that Misty had had at least
one litter of pups and now had some mammary tumors along with other bumps
that TDRP took care of when she came into their care. That was January,
2023. She has since developed even more lumps, some of which look
suspicious to her vet. These lumps are going to be biopsied, and
hopefully they will be benign. Misty is a very sweet girl and living
her best life along with other animals as friends - especially her very
own BFF, a horse in fancy winter duds! Now she needs our help so
she can live the rest of her life without the discomfort and pain of these
troublesome growths. Of course, she’s acting like nothing
is wrong, even in pain. That’s what Dobies do! The biopsies
and possible follow-up surgery are not cheap. Extra care will have
to be taken due to her age. Please help this sweet girl have a few
more years to be happy and loved by both human and animal! Every
donation helps! Plus this is “Make Santa
Pay” time, so all your donations are doubled through December
31st. Plus, the donations are a big thank you to TDRP for pulling
this Senior Lady from the shelter to give her a chance for her to get
lots of horse kisses! Remember, Secret
Santa will match your donation until 12/31/23!! Donating is
as easy - just clice on the payment method of your choice - either PayPal
or USPS.
Misty and her horse, TDRP and SND profoundly appreciate your continued
generosity! Take a look at this poignant PDA (Public Display of
Affection) between these two - just click right here https://www.doberman911.org!
You can see more of Misty and maybe even send her some love on her Senior

Annie!!
|
December, 2023: Annie is just the sweetest, all natural blue girl, who unfortunately experienced a near deadly spay surgery!! Six year old Annie was an owner surrender to Doberman Rescue League located in Oakland Park, Florida. Prior to surrender, her owner fell on hard times, and Annie went for a very long period with no health care at all provided to her. She was placed in a loving and trusted foster home and was doing well. The usual vaccines and spay were scheduled. That all sounds routine and simple, but Annie’s spay was anything but… Annie began to hemorrhage during her spay!! Emergency care was of course provided with a HUGE cost attached to it! Three hospitals, ultrasounds, 24 hour monitored ICU care, IV infusions for homeostasis, several different drugs for the numerous sides effects of hemorrhaging, many many blood tests, tons of supplies, and the ever very expensive FFP (fresh frozen plasma) to put concentrated plasma into Annie’s system to hopefully stop the bleeding. I’m happy to tell you that fortunately, Annie is now recovering! DRL however, has veterinarian bills adding up to just under $10,000!! You read that right… TEN THOUSAND - $10,000! To say the DRL Rescue Warriors would greatly benefit from our assistance would be an understatement! I know times are tough in general, plus it’s the holidays season stretching our own resources a little thinner, however, ANY amount you could spare to help DRL recover from this huge monetary debt would be more than appreciated! Keeping them solvent and available for the Doberman disasters which are never ending is critical! And remember, Secret Santa will match your donation until 12/31/23!! Donating is as easy as clicking on your preferred method, either PayPal or USPS. DRL will be so grateful for your gifts as well as Annie and all of us at SND!! The rescues and SND profoundly appreciate your continued generosity! Look at Annie's thank you paw for a nudge to help... Just click right here https://www.doberman911.org! THANK YOU!! Bambi
!!
|
December, 2023: Her name evokes images of a fawn bouncing around in the forest having the time of its life. Well, this beautiful 2 year old DobeGirl will again be happily bouncing around thanks to Doberman Rescue League in Oakland Park, Florida. Bambi was at the Humane Society of the Bahamas after they had been discarded by their owners because “they didn’t want them any longer.” The HSB were trying desperately to find rescue somewhere in Florida for Bambi and another Dobe (Caymen - see his case below. A littermate?). A different rescue in FL was initially found but as so often the case, there was “no room at the inn.” Many rescues all over the country are swamped from overflowing shelter and pounds. The DRL Angels were contacted and accepted not one but BOTH of these Dobes. The pair was then flown to Florida to the DRL to be treated. Bambi has heartworm (no surprise, really). Heartworm is so easily prevented - the costs of prevention in terms of the cost to the dog's health and treatment pales in comparison!! Many shrug off heartworm as not such an expensive endeavor, but it is and does not take into account the pain and suffering by the dog! Usually costing well over $2000 at times with long-term care needed - and worst of all, it's not a given that the dog will even survive. The treatment is very painful and life-threatening. After all they are receiving injections of arsenic that are strong enough to kill the worms but hopefully not the patient. DRL needs help to pay for this life-saving treatment for Bambi. They have had two other cases lately that have really drained their finances by nearly $15,000 for two other emergency case they've taken on. You'll remember Ziggy (below) and Annie (next) so they need our help so they can remain ready to help the next needy Doberman. Thank goodness they are there to help! DRL is in a location that sees so many Dobies come through their doors. Please help to hold up this Rescue so it can continue to do it’s great work for our favorite breed by donating anything you can. Every dollar is very appreciated plus right now Santa Pays! So any donation you make is doubled through 12/31. Please send any donation you can to help DRL. Please join us in coming to Caymen's aid! It's easy! You can either use the PayPal or the USPS links as you prefer. Plus, right now, And remember that ourSecret Santa is here matching your contribution dollar-for-dollar! Win win!!!! Want to see DOUBLE the sweet in one peep? Just click right here https://www.doberman911.org! THANK YOU from Bambi, DRL, and SND too!! Lorri Ketterman, Bambi's SND Case Manager.
Caymen!!
|
December, 2023: Great name for a 2-year-old red boy who was originally in the Bahamas. Probably named after the Cayman Islands near there? Maybe it was after the fierce reptile (caiman) who lives in the Amazon River? He is going to need that fierceness to fight this battle he is in. Caymen and his possible littermate, Bambi (see above case), were wards of the Humane Society of the Bahamas. HSB worked hard to find a rescue to take on their care as Caymen and Bambi were both at the HSB after they had been discarded by their owners because “they didn’t want them any longer.” The HSB had their own local disaster with flooding at their facilities where at least six of their wards died. They were trying desperately to find rescue somewhere in Florida for Caymen and another Dobe, Bambi. A rescue in FL was contacted but as is so often the case, there was “no room at the inn.” Many rescues all over the country are swamped from overflowing shelter and pounds. The Doberman Rescue League Angels in Oakland Park, Florida were contacted and they accepted not one but BOTH of these Dobes. The pair was then flown to Florida to the DRL to be treated. Caymen, like Bambi, has heartworm. We will never know the circumstances that kept him from getting his monthly treatments, but we do know that he is lucky boy to have DRL waiting to take him to be treated so he can live a life no longer threatened by killer worms. The treatment itself is scary. Caymen will be injected with arsenic - two doses. It’s very painful and life-threatening for him. Plus there is the long-term after care until he is fully rid of the worms. The treatment is costly for a rescue that has recently undergone massive expenses on two other cases listed here. DRL sorely needs our help to shore up their coffers while they wait for the next sweet Dobie who needs help. And it will come, it always does. Please send any donation you can to help DRL. Please join us in coming to Caymen's aid! It's easy! You can either use the PayPal or the USPS links as you prefer. They are in a location that sees lots of rescue traffic so they really, really can use our help. Plus, right now, Secret Santa is here to match your contribution dollar-for-dollar! Win win!!!! ! That means any donation you send in will be doubled until 12/31. Want to see DOUBLE the sweet in one peep? Just click right here https://www.doberman911.org! THANK YOU from Caymen and DRL, and SND!!!! Lorri Ketterman, Caymen's SND Case Manager. |

Ziggy!!
|
December, 2023: Eight year old Ziggy needs everyone who is presently reading this to send their positive vibes and dollars to help him. He was first picked up this past October by a gentle person in Miami displaying symptoms of heat stroke. This nameless but wonderful person contacted EMS and while being transported to veterinary care, he required intubation to survive (Hooray to the heroes of EMS). On arrival, Ziggy was treated and stabilized. It was discovered Ziggy was adopted out of Miami Dade Animal Services - who contacted Ziggy's adopter, who (as usual) stated they no longer wanted the poor guy. Lucky for Ziggy, Doberman Rescue League in Oakland Park, Florida has scooped Ziggy up and got him the testing he needs. While a number of things have been ruled out, we still don't know what is causing this dear boy's breathing troubles. DRL now has this dear, sweet boy in foster, and it's reported Ziggy is one of the sweetest and gentle Dobes going (no surprise - look at that face). It is hoped, with further diagnostics that the cause of Ziggy's troubles can be found and treated. That means LOTS of tests, which are expensive and time consuming. DRL has come to their friends at Special Needs Dobermans for financial help so they can get to the bottom of Ziggy's problems. As stated before, Ziggy - at 8 years old - is one of sweetest and most endearing Dobergents around. Please, show Ziggy to your friends and let's raise some funds at SND for this most stellar and handsome boy. Won't you join us in coming to Ziggy's aid? It's easy! You can either use the PayPal or the USPS links as you prefer. And Remember, Secret Santa is here to match your contribution dollar-for-dollar! Win win!!!! Want some Senior Eye Candy by Ziggy Starlight? Just click right here https://www.doberman911.org! THANK YOU from Sir Ziggy, DRL, and me, Leslie Michell-Young, Ziggy's Case Manager. |

Lucy!!
|
December, 2023: The little beauty before you is one year old Lucy! This sweetie pie was rescued from a hoarding situation by the Rescue Warriors of The Doberman Rescue Pack located in Shoreline, Washington. Lucy’s medical intake assessment was completed and it was discovered that Lucy has von Willebrand Disease. Von Willebrand's Disease is a serious blood clotting disorder caused by low levels of clotting protein in the blood (akin to hemophilia in humans). VWd is inherited and one of the most common breed to be affected with this disorder is the Doberman. This is a dire diagnosis because vWd positive dogs are prone to nosebleeds and bleeding from the gums, and actual hemorrhaging can result during whelping (that won’t happen here), a serious injury or a surgical procedure. Lucy has not yet been spayed (no surprise) and TDRP will see that the procedure is done. However, because of the vWd this will be no ordinary spay. Several very costly extras will need to be available in case it’s needed such as plasma, platelets and additional supplies. Add to these expensive extras the usual anesthesia, medications, supplies, hospital stay… $$$ adds up very quickly - the high estimate is $7K to safely save this life! There’s no question Lacy needs to be spayed, and because of Lacy’s costly ‘extras’, TDRP has come to our SND family for support with the veterarian bill. If you can, and are willing, a donation of any amount would be greatly appreciated! Let’s band together and get Lacy’s spay done so she is able to move on to her forever home! Donating is easy by either using the PayPal or the USPS links as you prefer. The rescues and we at SND are always humbled by your graciousness! And Remember, Secret Santa is here to match your contribution dollar-for-dollar! Win win!!!! Want another glance at Lovely Lucy? Just click right here https://www.doberman911.org! Thank you for your continued support of our rescues and the Dobes in their care! Beth McCahren, Lucy's SND Case Manager. |

Bali
!!
|
November, 2023: This beautiful girl with the exotic name has been infected by some very preventable all-too-common beasties. Bali was found as a stray in Dekalb County, Georgia. No one came to claim her so the Dober Angels from Georgia Doberman Rescue came to her rescue. Based on the scars she has on her neck and back, she must have been attacked by another dog at some time. She is only 3-4 years old. Had she been tested at the shelter the result would assuredly been the Blue Cocktail Bar. Upon taking Bali to GDR's vet for her intake exam she was found to have the dreaded heartworms. Luckily, otherwise she is in good shape. Not something we see that often at SND, but the treatment is still very costly and long term. This doesn't even address how painful and life-threatening it can be to the patient. After all, killing heartworm is done with arsenic - strong enough to kill the worms but toxic enough to be dangerous depending on level of infestation. It will take several months for her to get clear of the worms and of course she can’t be adopted until they are gone. Without intervention, this gorgeous girl would surely die a slow and horrible death. GDR needs help to pay for her treatment and care. Luckily, a fairly reasonable vet was found so it’s not a catastrophic cost case but it’s still a case that can go up to $2K draining the coffers of the Rescue. GDR needs our help to cover the Bali's bills so they can be at the ready for the next Dobe with the ubiquitous worm found in the southeast (and spreading fast all over the country). Please help this wonderful Rescue give Bali her new beastie-free life! You can start now by sending your donation via USPS or PayPal, just click on the link you prefer. And remember that ourSecret Santa is here matching your contribution dollar-for-dollar! Win win!!!! Want another glance at this beautiful Redhead? Just click right here https://www.doberman911.org! Dusty!!
|
November, 2023: This dear boy was discovered walking dejectedly alongside a road by a kind person. Kind person stopped their car, and beckoned to this poor, starved dog, who happily came right up to the car and hopped in. Our hero immediately took this lovely boy to the local shelter for his safety. The next day, our kind person came and visited him and discovered a terrible laceration going from the top of his hips down to the tip of his tail. No one knows how he came to be injured. Upon intake at the shelter, he was so disheveled and dirty the injury wasn't initially noticed... We are so grateful his hero came by to visit him, as he could have sat for days without getting treatment. He's guestimated to be around 4 years old and now his name is Dusty - a lovely name that tells of his discovery and rescue from the streets. Poor Dusty had to have a boatload of sutures to close his nasty wound, but fortunately, he is free from infection and is getting some good groceries to help put his sad past behind him. Dusty is now a ward of Doberman Pincher Rescue in Fillmore, California (aka Ardis's Army), has been sewn back together and is eating up a storm. He’s now such a happy guy and on the road to a complete recovery! We all need to thank the kindness of the stranger who cared enough about Dusty to get him to safety and to the mighty warriors of DPR. Because of their actions, Dusty has many happy and healthy years ahead of him. Seems like nothing's cheap these days and nothing's changed for the better either in terms of the costs for services. Won't you join us now and help keep our Rescue Warriors solvent so they can continue to save these precious Dobes? You certainly can do that by USPS or PayPal, just click on the link you prefer. Want another glance at this precious BlueBoy? Just click right here https://www.doberman911.org! Leslie Michell-Young, SND Case Manager - grateful for the kindness of a stranger and cheerleader for Doberman Pinscher Rescue! |

Athena...!!
|
UPDATE - November 11, 2023:
It is with extreme sadness that we tell you that dear
Athena lost her battle
yesterday. She and her pups succumbed to parvo
compounded by negligence. Her death and the death of all
but one of her pups hurts the more because it was and remains senseless.
The most basic care would have prevented this tragedy. We are
powerless in struggles like these but it cannot stop us from caring
and doing nothing. With our and your help we will continue to
try to save her remaining boy, Gabe, who will need all the support we
can give him until he's finally out of danger and in the arms of a family
who will love him for the rest of his precious little life. Athena,
we all take comfort in knowing you are beyond all the cruelty in your
life. Sleep easy dear Lady - At the end of your days, you were

Sadie!!
|
November, 2023: At two years young, gorgeous Sadie is barely out of puppy-hood. She was found as a stray in Louisiana, and while we have absolutely no history on her, it’s obvious by her right hind leg amputation she has had some type of a tragic past - hit by a car? cancer? a beating? it’s anyone’s guess. We also know that at one point in time Sadie had someone must have cared for her as evidenced by the amputation. The Rescue Warriors at Doberman Pinscher Rescue of Pennsylvania, located in Fleetwood, was contacted to please help Sadie as she was diagnosed with not only heartworms but whipworms as well. A flight from Louisiana to PA was able to be secured and Sadie was welcomed into the DPRPA family. Sadie’s hookworms have been treated and she’s had her first heartworm treatment. All seemed to be well until the evening of the heartworm treatment when Sadie became very lethargic and listless. She was rushed back to the veterinarian who believes she has pieces of heartworm lodged in her lungs! She is currently being rehydrated and is receiving oxygen and antibiotics. The vet sees her survivability at about 60%. Not fantastic odds but certainly not the worst. Sadie is just the sweetest girl who has had a tough life so far. Heartworm treatment is long and costly and now DPRPA has the added cost of the emergency visit, additional medications and inpatient care. Sadie is not the only medical case the Rescue Warriors of DPRPA has and they surely would appreciate any amount that our SND family can contribute to Sadie's care. Please remember that NO amount donated is ever too small! Skip a few lattes or specialty drinks and now you have a donation! Your gift can be delivered via USPS or PayPal just by clicking on the tab of your choice! The DPRPA Rescue Warriors will be super excited for any amount you are able to put toward Sweet Sadie’s vet bill. Not only will Sadie be returned to health, she will be given the opportunity to find her forever family where she will be loved unconditionally and kept safe! The rescues and the SND family are humbly grateful for your continued support and generosity! Look at the beautiful and healthy Sadie she will become with your help! Just click right here https://www.doberman911.org! Thank you! Beth McCahren, Sadie's SND Case Manager. |

Lacy!!
|
November, 2023: Lacy (former name Khaleesi) began this leg of her journey as a stray in a shelter in Louisiana. Her ‘owners’ were located and did claim her. However, Lacy was again found as a stray (or was she dumped?) and there she was, at the same shelter. This time when her uncaring ‘owners’ were notified of where she was, they abandoned her - they simply didn’t care about her and didn’t want to be bothered with her any longer. At this point, the shelter reached out to the Rescue Warriors of Doberman Pinscher Rescue of Pennsylvania located in Fleetwood for assistance with this sweet, petite, heartworm positive ...(no surprise there!) Dobie princess. DPRPA agreed to take her into their care and Lacy was put on a flight to Pkennsylvania! She has now been with her foster mom for the past month. Her foster mom tell us that when Lacy first arrived she would stand with her head down just as if she was waiting to be hit!! When her original name was called, you could see the fear in her eyes (hence the name change to Lacy). She’s now slowly learning to trust and is even beginning to seek attention, love and pets. DPRPA has reached out to us at SND for assistance with Lacy’s heartworm treatment. Heartworms need to be killed slowly or they will without a doubt cause a slow and painful death. Heartworm treatment is not only unpleasant and life-threatening for the patient but it is very costly as well. Let us band together to get Lacy healthy again and ready for her new home where she will be loved beyond measure! Let me remind all that NO amount of a donation is ever too small!! And, it’s simple to do! Just click on this USPS tab for an address or the PayPal tab on the right, your choice! Our dedicated Doberman rescues greatly appreciate the generosity of our SND family and are deeply grateful for all assistance provided! Want a preview of a Princess in waiting for her better days? Just click right here https://www.doberman911.org! Beth McCahren, Lacy's SND Case Manager. |

Mitchell
!!
|
October, 2023: Dear Mitchell is a very handsome and distinguished gentleman who has found himself fortunate enough to be in the loving hands of High Desert Doberman Rescue in New Mexico. His new friends at HDDR pulled him from a small rural shelter and no one knows really why this lovely gentleman landed there in the first place. It is possible Mitchell was lost or possibly/probably dumped... nonetheless, this dear boy is a gem. On intake at HDDR, Mitch presented with a mass on his hip and poor coat condition, but his spirits are at the top of the ladder! He is a happy guy, gentle and smart and despite his hip growth, prances that regal Doberman gait typical of our beloved Dobes... for what he's seen, which we'll never know, he is handsome, gentle and simply lovely. Our good friends at High Desert Doberman Rescue have come to us at Special Needs Dobermans to help finance Mitchell's rehabilitation. Poor Mitch had a through exam and complete blood panels but will need follow up including a biopsy on the hip mass to rule out malignancy on the mass and investigating why his coat is in such poor shape - which means T4, T3 and TSH thyroid studies. His coat and skin problems may improve with the proper food and loving care. Hopefully he may be able to avoid further physical therapy for his hip. This is NOT inexpensive - but we're SND and we will make this happen for sweet Mitch. Please, tell all your friends about our newest gentleman and send him your hopes and dollars using the links you prefer. It’s easy and you can begin now - just use the donation link on the right or by USPS as you prefer. Together, let's help Mitch shine anew! – he IS a treasure we hope you’ll agree!! Leslie Michell-Young, SND Case Manager, Advocate and Friend of wonderful Mitchell! |

Drake!!
|
October, 2023: This incredibly handsome two year old is DRAKE! Drake is a permanent foster under the fabulous care of the Rescue Warriors of Bluegrass Doberman Rescue, located in Louisville, Kentucky. Drake carries a diagnosis of Addison’s Disease which, because of the high cost of monthly treatment (for life), is the reason he is a permanent foster. Drake is a very high strung fellow and apparently is also a Dobergoat! Although he is watched closely, he still managed to eat most of a worn Kong, and of course, he swallowed some pieces. Drake wasn’t feeling well and was taken to his primary veterinarian who in turn sent him straight to the emergency vet. Treatment was provided and he did pass part of the toy, however, there was not adequate improvement. Therefore, the decision was made to ‘go in’ and remove anything blocking his intestines. Such an invasive surgery is always risky, however, the situation with Drake is even more high risk due to his Addison’s Disease (stress with this disease can cause a multitude of problems and even more so with Drake as he’s already high strung to begin with)! Drake’s surgery was successful although he did have to stay at the hospital longer due to the intense inflammation of his intestines as well as the effect the stress of surgery could have on his adrenal glands. Let’s add all of this up: primary vet, emergency vet, invasive surgery, pre and post op care, meds and diagnostics, hospital fees and extra hospital days. We are talking major $$$ here! So far $6300 was paid by the rescue - that is a huge amount for any rescue to pay out! Needless to say BDR could really use our help. Would you please send a gift of ANY amount to help with this costly, literal, life or death surgery! NO amount is ever too small! You can donate by either USPS or PayPal just by clicking on the appropriate link of your choice. We know times are tough for everyone these days, the rescues included - compounded by the cost of vet services too! Please know that your donations are greatly appreciated by the rescues, the Dobes in need and we at SND. Want some delicious eye candy? Just click right here https://www.doberman911.org! Keep Drake in your throughts and send him some love! THANK YOU you for your continued support as the needs never end. Beth McCahren, Drake's SND Case Manager. |

Ren!!
|
October, 2023: No more toe shoes for this precious Blue Doberdude! Ren is 1 to 2 years old and was rescued a month ago as a stray from a shelter by the Rescue Angels of Doberman Pinscher Rescue of Fillmore, California. His left rear foot was deeply infected with necrotic areas. He had an old bandage on that he was trying to chew off. How it happened and when will never be known. DPR nurse started with daily wrap changes and antibiotics to get the infection under control before anything could be done with the rotten toes. In the end he had to lose all his toes but his foot pad remained intact. He’s trying to walk with that leg, so they are hoping he won’t need an amputation. His metatarsals were also fractured but had been healing slowly. Luckily, the infection had not spread to those bones allowing healing to continue. Who knows how long this sweet-natured boy suffered with those broken bones compounded by a bandage which was on too tight. Everyone knows how much that hurts! How can anyone watch this happen (rhetorical question because it did happen)? Just getting professional attention or checking that foot every day would have saved his toes even if the metatarsals were not addressed. With toes removed, Ren will have to wear a boot for the rest of his life but we’re all hoping this intervention will allow him to avoid an amputation. He’s a typical sweet Doberman, loving people and other dogs and he was an excellent patient during the bandage changes - giving plenty of kisses at the end! Since he was in the hospital, he was also neutered so he will be ready for a forever family soon we hope. Thankfully this boy is no longer in pain and with people who care for him. Please help in any way you can to thank Doberman Pinscher Rescue cover this bill! They are always helping Dobermans who need help, and their coffers keep getting depleted. Ren needed their help and they need ours. Any contribution will greatly help these fine folks to keep rescuing and caring for our favorite breed!!!! Won't you help now? You certainly can by USPS or PayPal, just click on the link you prefer. Want another glance at this precious BlueBoy? Just click right here https://www.doberman911.org! Thank you so much!!!! Maddox!!
|
October, 2023: Mr. Maddox was found as a stray in Michigan. You can tell by his wise eyes and graying muzzle that he is not a ‘young’ Doberman (he is conjectured to be approximately eight years old). Maddox was being cared for in a shelter that is located in a low funded area of Michigan. Although he is reported to be fantastic and a gentle Dobe, with the combination of low funding and his age being against him, the caring shelter staff reached out to the Rescue Warriors of Doberman Underground, located in Aurora, Ohio with the hopes that DU would be better able to find him a home. Now, onto the rest of the story: Maddox was taken in by DU and in turn went to daycare to be kenneled for a trial evaluation. He was only there for a few hours when suddenly he fell to the ground and was unable to get up, then began having what appeared to be a seizure. He was immediately rushed to an emergency vet and after much testing, diagnostics, and some time hospitalized. He was diagnosed with an infection that caused him to have a spontaneous attack of vertigo! Although the veterinarians don’t believe an episode like this is likely to occur again, Maddox is still not quite steady on his feet, but is improving. He is still on his regimen of meds for both the infection and vertigo. When we add together ‘emergency vet’, ‘testing’, ‘diagnostics’, ‘meds’ and ‘hospital stay’ we can see the dollar signs adding up and up! This particular hospital does not give a ‘rescue discount’! Four thousand dollars was needed to be put down just for Maddox to be seen with the remaining amount paid before he would be discharged!! The total cost was over $5,000 which quickly caused a great depletion of Doberman Undergound’s funds! Although DU is raising money on their own in an attempt to replenish their medical fund for future needs, they have come to our SND family for assistance. If possible, would you donate ANY AMOUNT to help DU and Maddox? NO gift is ever too small! Donations can be delivered by USPS or PayPal, just click on the tab that is your preference. The rescues depend on our SND family to assist them when in need! Want a view of a very regal and very handsome handsome Gent? Just click right here https://www.doberman911.org! We at SND as well as the rescues and Dobermans you help greatly appreciate and thank you for your gracious donations!! THANK YOU!! Beth McCahren, Maddox's SND Case Manager. |

Max!!
|
October, 2023: Max is a gorgeous red boy, 6 years old. He was turned into The Doberman Rescue Pack in Seattle, Washington after his owners could no longer care for him. He had been kept in his crate for 10-12 hours a day and gradually got very pudgy. His first foster was working on getting him slimmed down but has another commitment coming up so Max is now looking for a new foster for when he is well again once he recovers from his present emergency. He has now been a sweet couch potato and a Velcro Dude. In other words, just another wonderful boy! He was doing well with walks and with luck he’ll get back his figure with a good diet, patience and time. And then approximately two days ago, the trouble began. In the past 48 hours he had stopped eating and then progressed to diarrhea. That went on to produce blood in his stools and so off to the ER he went as his local vet wasn’t able to handle his situation. He is still in the emergency clinic while they try to figure out what is happening to him. Everyone knows how expensive the ER is, especially when they have to do the diagnostics in order to begin helping Max. Very likely this emergency is going to be very expensive and we have everything crossed that they can find and fix his issues in time to make him well. As with so many rescues, TDRP's finances are stretched more than thin and an emergency like this can be a devastating blow to their ability to help Dobermans! Please, please help us help them stay afloat by sending any amount you can so The Doberman Rescue Pack can continue with its very valuable mission of saving Dobermans! You can provide your donation by using USPS or PayPal just by clicking on the link of your choice for instructions. Have another look at maximum handsome Max!! Just click right here https://www.doberman911.org! Keep your paws crossed for this beautiful boy!!!!! From Max, TDRP and SND - we THANK YOU!! Lorri Ketterman, Max's SND Case Manager. |

Wyatt!!
|
October, 2023: Wyatt is a lovely gentleman who is the longtime chairman and resident of High Desert Doberman Rescue in New Mexico. He's a happy, smart and engaging guy of 7+ years who loves people and all creatures unequivocally and has lifted the spirits of every quadruped that has found themselves at High Desert. He is the official greeter and facilitator for all the dogs at High Desert and he takes his job very seriously with his cheerful demeanor and happy attitude. He's a treasure say his Rescue Angels at HDDR! Recently, his devoted people at High Desert discovered a puncture wound on Wyatt's chest. While no one has any idea as to its origin, Wyatt was quickly brought to veterinarians who subsequently cleaned the wound with sutures and drain, antibiotics and they monitored Wyatt for infection. Happily, Wyatt is doing very well and is healing as he should, which is very happy news. Dear Wyatt has resumed his duties as Chairman of the Yard and remains the delightful guy he's always been. Of course, no vet services is cheap nowadays and this has left High Desert with Wyatt's veterinary expenses. While they're not as exorbitant as they could have been they still put a dent in High Desert's ability to financially help the next Doberman to come into their fold. Please help High Desert recoup Wyatt's expenses so they can rescue more Dobes who will be lucky to meet Wyatt by sending your donation right away! You can begin now - just use the donation link on the right or by USPS as you prefer. Wyatt wants to thank all of you for helping him and his friends continue to live a happy life while they wait for adoption. Thank you! Leslie Michell-Young, Wyatt's Case Manager at SND. |

Shay!!
|
October, 2023: As old and new members of our SND family, you know that our dedicated rescues come across various types of neglect cases. I have a very sad story to tell you about sweet Shay. It started when Doberman Rescue League of Hollywood, Florida was notified of a ‘Free Doberman’ on Craig’s List. ( Any animal listed as ‘free’ on ‘Craig’s List’ is rarely a good thing and naturally makes our inner red flags go up.) A DRL Rescue Warrior went to pick up Shay and just could not believe what she was seeing – Shay’s left rear foot was WRAPPED IN A PLASTIC BOTTLE!!! Yes indeedy, you read that right! The previous so called ‘owner’ stated ‘it started with a blister’ and escalated to Shay LOSING HER TOES!! I absolutely have no words for the atrocious indifference regarding this poor dog! Can you imagine the pain she was in?? Shay had NEVER seen a vet (no surprise) so she had no vaccinations ever and no heartworm preventative measures whereby she is now light heartworm positive. Oh, and by the way, Shay had a ‘accidental’ litter of puppies which were in process of being sold! DRL immediately rushed Shay to Hollywood Animal Hospital where removal of the bottle revealed a horrific, raging infection! She underwent an emergent life saving leg amputation and actually handled the surgery quite well. She’s now feeling better and craving attention and love. The cost to save Shay is over $7,000 at present and DRL could really use the help of SND in the form of donations. Emergency surgery anywhere is VERY expensive and at this VCA location it was over the top - at least a very small discount was give on a $9,000.00 Hollywood, FL, is no different than Hollywood, CA it seems when it comes to cost of vet services! ANY amount at all is appreciated and NO amount is ever too small! You can provide your donation by using USPS or PayPal just by clicking on the link of your choice for instructions. We hope you can spare any amount for Shay’s surgery and after care expenses. Keeping DRL alive and financially solvent in this morass of Doberman (and all animals) misery is CRITICAL!! Please look at this lovely young Lady and open your hearts - Just click right here https://www.doberman911.org! Shay, DRL and all of us at SND are so very appreciative of your generosity! Thank you so very much!! Beth McCahren, Tiago's SND Case Manager. |

Benni!!
|
October, 2023: Such an expressive face! A very kissable face! Darling Benni was rescued from the shelter in a morbidly obese condition as a stray. The Doberman Pinscher Rescue Angels in Filmore, California pulled her and started her on a much-needed diet. We all know how Dobies like to eat so this must have been very hard on this girl, especially after the trauma of being held at the shelter. After a couple of months of slimming this cutie down, they found all that fat had been hiding a growth near her anus plus they had already noticed a lump on her head. Both lumps have been removed and tested as soon as an appointment became available. One was a fatty mass, the other was fully encapsulated. Her Vet didn’t do biopsies as he was confident that everything looked good. Of course, this still costs a lot. Any kind of surgery is very expensive. She is going to be watched very carefully as sutures near the anus are notorious for pulling out and becoming infected. Though this case is not as serious as most we get at SND, it’s a case where we can still help DPR cover the bills as they are always ready to help any Dobie they can. They have rescued and saved so many from very bad circumstances. Please help us help them to cover dear Benni’s bills and get ready for the inevitable next one. Won't you join us and help DPR continue to save our precious Dobes? Sure you will (we hope)! You can begin now - just use the donation link on the right or by USPS as you prefer. Hopefully, very soon, Benni will be in her new, forever home! Many thanks to DPR for helping her along her journey! Thank you!! Lorri Ketterman, SND Case Manager for Miss Benni. |

Fallon!!
|
October, 2023: One of the countless things about Dobermans is their remarkable resilience, and today, we bring you a perfect example. Lovely Fallon was brought into a veterinary office by individuals claiming they "found" her a few weeks prior. Not only was this beautiful middle aged lady (guestimate is 5-7 years old) starved to the point of near death - she also presented with pyometra. As we all know, horrors like this don't happen overnight. Thankfully, the individuals that "found" Fallon surrendered her to the veterinarian who immediately remedied the pyometra and contacted our heroes from the Doberman Underground - The underground gladly accepted Fallon into their fold of lucky Dobermans. Fallon is eating well, gaining weight and her horrible infection is history as she was immediately spayed which likely saved her life. She still has some distance to go in her journey to health, but she's happy, getting excellent nutrition and sleeping in a warm, comfy bed! We can thank the wonderful angels of Doberman Underground for another wonderful save... Fallon now has many promising and happy years ahead of her because of the work Doberman Underground does. DU has been the beacon of hope for more Dobes than we can count. They have taken on cases many other rescues would run the other way from because of the expense involved in their treatment. Tonight, Fallon is safe, fed, warm and happy because of DU's intervention. As with many cases DU has taken on, Fallon's veterinary expenses have nearly drained Doberman Underground's intervention funds and this wonderful organization has come to Special Needs Dobermans to help recoup some of the considerable expense of saving Fallon and giving her the chance of a wonderful happy life. Sadly, there will always be other Dobermans that will need Doberman Underground's lifesaving intervention and we at Special Needs Dobermans are grateful we can help DU help other Dobermans in the future. Please, stop what you're doing and send SND a donation for lovely Fallon. You can begin now - just use the donation link on the right or by USPS as you prefer. You can see more of that picture now - Just click right here https://www.doberman911.org! She may look forlorn in her pictures, but soon - with your, Doberman Underground's and SND's help, she will soon be smiling. Thank you!! Leslie Michell-Young, SND Case Manager for dear Fallon. |

Tiago!!
|
September, 2023: Tiago is a lovely, young male estimated to be between one and two years old. We don’t know the exact circumstances, hit by a car and not attended after. However we do know he was taken in by a shelter that frequently works along with the Rescue Warriors of Doberman Pinscher Rescue located in Fillmore, California. Upon the shelter intake exam it was obvious Tiago had a very injured right rear leg. An xray was done revealing a DOUBLE compound fracture (a compound fracture is defined as the broken bone completely separated and sometimes exiting through the skin)! A compound fracture is not only very painful but is an emergent situation as well due to the high possibility of infection and nerve damage! It is unknown how long the leg was broken and the shelter had no means to provide treatment, therefore the leg was splinted for stability. Numerous positive interactions had been shared between this shelter and DPR and it was determined Tiago’s best chance of recovery was with DPR. Tiago was very well liked by the shelter staff due to him being cooperative and sweet even when he was with strangers and was in pain. Because Tiago arrived at DPR just before the weekend, he was unable to be seen by DPR’s orthopedic vet until September 25th. At that time the leg was promptly unsplinted and additional diagnostics were done. The sad but not unexpected news is Tiago’s leg is horribly infected with severe nerve damage; sadly, there is no possible way to save the leg. DPR has come to the SND community to assist with pre and post op testing and care as well as the actual amputation itself. Encouraging news is that Tiago is expected to make a full recovery! If possible and if inclined, a donation of ANY amount dedicated to DPR and Tiago to help fund his care would be greatly appreciated! DPR has a never-ending list of ill and broken Dobes to care for and the costs can be staggering. You can give by USPS or PayPal by just clicking on the tab of your choice. Please remember that the rescues and we at SND are forever grateful for your ongoing support! As an aside, please share our Dobes in need with your friends and social media pages for optimum exposure! Want another peek at this handsome young Dude? Just click right here https://www.doberman911.org! Many thanks! Beth McCahren, Tiago's SND Case Manager. |

Sophie!!
|
September, 2023: So far so good! Meet Sophie! She is a gorgeous 3 year-old red beauty. Her owner took her to the vet believing she had a urinary tract infection but it was much more serious! She was diagnosed with pyometra, a condition that occurs in unspayed females when their uterus becomes infected leading to a rapidly progressing and life-threatening emergency. It is caused by a bacterial infection and can sometimes appear a few weeks after a female has finished a season. When her owner found out the estimated cost of the surgery, she surrendered Sophie to the Doberman Rescue League (DRL) of Oakland Park, Florida in order to save her life. DRL made sure she received the care she needed to survive. Sophie was rushed into emergency surgery on 9/20/23 and her uterus was removed. She made it through surgery but is still at the vet hospital recovering. She is not out of the woods yet. We're gratful that at least her former owner did the right thing to save Sophie’s life. Now, DRL has this huge bill of over $3500 and that’s even with a generous discount. Since Sophie is still in the hospital, the costs keep rising until she’s finally declared fit to be released. Please help us by donating anything you can to ease the financial cost of Sophies surgery and care - we know she’s worth every dollar! Donating is easy and of course you can begin now - just use the donation link on the right or by USPS as you prefer. Want another peek at this pretty girl in her VERY cute e-collar? Just click right here https://www.doberman911.org! Hopefully soon, she will be bouncing around bringing joy and love to her new family. THANK YOU!! Lorri Ketterman, Sophie's SND Case Manager. |

Nina!!
|
September, 2023:
This beautiful
girl is going to give you a reason to be grateful. Nina is a victim
of benign (well, maybe) neglect, which brought with it a history of
close calls before she was finally surrendered to her vet - who, in
turn, contacted Georgia Doberman Rescue. Poor dear Nina is only 6 years
old and was taken to the veterinarian because over the course of a week,
she vomited 2 socks and passed yet another (don't people do their laundry
instead of leaving on the floor??). The ingested sock caused poor Nina
to develop a life threatening obstruction, which surgery corrected -
after her surrender. This event is probably the best thing to happen
for dear Nina. When reviewing her records, it was discovered that Nina
successfully received heartworm treatment 4 years ago, after her people
declined both heartworm preventative AND x-rays to evaluate suspected
hip dysplasia. It's abundantly clear this beautiful girl's world is
now so much better since her surrender. Wonderful Nina is now recovering
very nicely from her huge life saving surgery and will soon embark on
her journey to a home that will treasure her and make certain she will
stay away from socks, neglect and emergencies. Her rescue saved her
life, and Georgia Doberman Rescue deserves an extended standing ovation
for their dedication to Nina - and for making sure Nina's new adoptive
home will be one of bliss. Georgia Doberman Rescue is a longtime friend
of Special Needs Dobermans and once again, they have appealed to SND
for assistance to pay for Nina's immense medical bills. Just look at
this darling's face - how can you forget the sadness in this beauty's
eyes? GDR is going all out to make Nina's life SO much better AND you
can help! Please, send some money to Special Needs Dobermans
to help bring love and happiness to this dear girl. Of course
you can begin now - just use the donation link on the right or
by USPS
as you prefer.
I promise you, our beautiful Nina will soon be smiling, happy and healthy.
Just look at the potential for smiles on Miss Nina's face right

THANK YOU!! Leslie Michell-Young, Nina's SND Case Manager.
Let's give Nina reason to smile now!!

Skipper,
|
August, 2023: Three unbelievably beautiful black and tan youngsters were found abandoned on the side of the road. All looked emaciated and upon visiting the vet it was found that all three were suffering from parvo. There were two girls Barbie and Skipper and Ken is a male. Presumably dumped because they are all sick – why else would that happen?(rhetorical, of course). Not worth the price of euthanasia? The Dobes are siblings estimated to be between 6 and 10 months old. All of them were extremely thin, between 32 and 35 lbs. Lucky for them, the Rescue angels from Doberman Underground in Aurora, Ohio, once again stepped up to help save these lives. DU has had many rescues with high-cost medical issues so far this year and the bill for these three is no exception. The siblings first went to the ER and were stabilized. Ken was the worst of the three and had to be hospitalized the longest. Once stabilized, each was moved to a vet hospital with 24-hour care and monitoring. Once they were transferred, Skipper lost her battle. Her frail little body couldn’t handle the trauma of the disease and treatment. If only their owner would have cared enough to take them somewhere they could get help, maybe Skipper would still be alive. They were in intensive and intermediate care for 5 days. They stayed in the hospital in isolation for 12 days. So expensive for each dog per day. Barbie and Ken are still being closely monitored so the costs keep rising. It will be long-term. So far, they’ve had a lot of supportive care like IV’s fluids with management of electrolytes, antibiotics for any secondary infections, medications for vomiting, nausea, diarrhea and pain, blood sugar monitoring, blood tests every day, plus special dog food. This salvation for 2 of 3 pups is over $7,000 so far. Please help us help Doberman Underground to pay the bills for caring for these very lucky surviving youngsters. Please, begin helping with your donation using the link on the right or by USPS so we can enable the DU Angels help more sweet Dobes like these. Your help will be greatly appreciated. A picture of the pups when they were first seen by the vet team is on our home page - just click right here https://www.doberman911.org. Barbie, with her silly ear, says a special thank you so much!!!! Thank you!! Lorri Ketterman, Barbie, Ken & Skipper's Case Manager.

Roxy!!
|
September, 2023:
Once again,
I’d like to introduce to our SND community, Miss Roxy! Roxy is
a SND alumna who was saved by the Rescue Warriors of Doberman Rescue
of Nevada (Las Vegas, Nevada) in April of 2022. At that time,
DRNV addressed the multiple medical issues that she had, one being the
removal of a sarcoma from her back. Now, at age nine, Roxy is an elderly
girl and has several of the lumps and bumps that older dogs get.
However, there is a particular one that, in short time, has enlarged
to the size of a golf ball! This area, between her rear leg and rib
cage, is making mobility painful and has decreased her quality of life.
Following an ultrasound for internal observation, this lipoma will be
surgically removed and biopsied. With Roxy’s sarcoma history,
and the pain the enlarged area is causing, this surgical procedure cannot
wait. There’s no doubt that this will be a costly endeavor,
therefore, the DRNV Warriors have come to us at SND for assistance with
Roxy’s surgical and post op needs. Roxy was a dedicated
companion to her former owner until the owner’s demise, and DRNV
is just as dedicated to Roxy! You can read more about Roxy here
https://www.doberman911.org/gfcases2022.html
if you scroll down
to our April 2022 cases. She's also listed in our Senior Sponsorship
page at the link below. If she touches your heart and if possible,
won’t you please make a contribution toward her surgery fees.
NO amount is ever too small and any gift will be greatly appreciated!
Let’s see Roxy pain free and enjoying life again! You can
send your gift via PayPal or USPS
- just click on the tab according to your preference of giving for instructions
on how to donate. Just click right here https://www.doberman911.org
for a smile from our Vegas Doyenne, Miss Roxy! THANK YOU!!

Xena
!!

UPDATE -September 4, 2023:
We are all very saddened to tell you that Xena did not
survive the night. By morning she was showing signs of sepsis
so she was released from her suffering. She didn't die because
no one cared or because of the expense of giving her a chance.
She leaves a very big bill for DU to try and cover. Please help
us help them in Xena's memory. RIP darling Xena - you are loved.
Thank you! SND Case Management Team. |

Demi!!
|
September, 2023:
The beautiful
red girl you are seeing is eight year old Demi! When Demi’s
owner’s living situation changed and he was no longer able to
provide for her, he sadly, but confidently, surrendered Demi into the
loving care of the Rescue Warriors of Doberman Pinscher Rescue located
in Fillmore, California. Demi is very sweet and social.
In fact, everything about her is positive!! One of her favorite
pastimes is to hunt and chase squirrels in the large, fenced in acreage
she shares with her Dobie friends. Not long ago, Demi developed
a growth on her chest which, over time enlarged quite a bit, however
it hadn’t looked suspicious and never bothered Demi, so a close
eye was kept on it. More recently, it was noticed that when Demi
was lying down, she would chew at the growth which in turn quickly led
to a rupture. The growth was immediately removed and thankfully
was unremarkable regarding possible malignancy. Demi is now newly
invigorated and happier than ever! She’s even resumed her
squirrel chasing skills! As we all know, surgery is an expensive
undertaking. Therefore, DPR has come to our SND community for
assistance with this unexpected expense. At any given time, DPR
has Dobermans requiring more than routine care, and are well deserving
of our help! If possible, won’t you please send a donation
of ANY amount for Demi’s surgical needs? Remember, NO amount
is ever too small! You can send your gift via PayPal or USPS
- just click on the tab according to your preference of giving for instructions
on how to donate. SND has assisted many Doberman rescues with
their medical needs, and it was and is all possible because of you,
our Doberman family! We just know you want to see another pic
of this beautiful redhead, so, just click right here https://www.doberman911.org.
The Dobies, rescues and we at SND send an abundant amount of thanks
to you for your continuing generosity and support of our rescue families!!

Nya!!
|
August, 2023: Every puppy at 18 months old should be playing, training and doing all the puppy things that endear everyone and add delight and joy to our lives. Nya is a gorgeous baby who was surrendered, along with her brother to Animal Aid Rescue in Florida. Animal Aid reached out to the wonderful angels at Doberman Rescue League for adoption assistance, as Animal Aid felt Nya and her brother would find homes faster with an organization that was Doberman specific. DRL brought Nya and her brother to their veterinarian for health checks and wouldn't you know - dear, young Nya is heartworm positive. Keep in mind Nya is only a year and a half old - those that surrendered her had plenty of time to have her tested and put on prevention. Remember, this is Florida, where heartworm disease is spread all year long - not the North Pole! We thank Doberman Rescue League for helping all Dobermans in need, no matter what the Dobe's infirmities are. Nya will be treated and will be healthy and happy, however, treating heartworm infection is very, very expensive nowadays - not to mention the necessary exercise restrictions the treatment requires - and the added stress to a puppy who should be running around and playing rather than watching other dogs having a good time. Doberman Rescue League has come to Special Needs Dobermans for assistance paying for dear Nya's treatment. Yes, it's expensive, but this beautiful girlie deserves (as all dogs deserve) a chance at a happy, full life with people who will treasure her. It never ceases to amaze me how anyone can neglect giving heartworm prevention - it's actually cheap and saves lives... but I digress... Please, look in to this beautiful baby's eyes and feel your heart skip a beat or two - she's just breathtaking. You can help her by sending in a donation to SND. Know that your donation, every cent, will get the treatment that will save Nya's life. Just click on the tab that for the type of donation that you prefer using, or you can also choose mail in with USPS. Now imagine Nya running across a meadow healthy and happy, because of YOU! It will be a sight to behold! Get a glimpse at a precious princess - just click right here https://www.doberman911.org. Thank you!! Leslie Michell-Young, Nya's Case Manager (I can't take my eyes off this baby girl. She is perfect.!!) |

Rasca!!
|
August, 2023: Beautiful, three year old Rasca would not have made it out of the shelter alive if the Rescue Warriors of Doberman Pinscher Rescue (located in Fillmore, California) hadn’t come to her aid! We have no idea what Rasca’s history is or how it was she ended up in a shelter – was she a dump or a stray? What we do know is that this particular shelter is very hesitant regarding spaying Dobermans due to their propensity to having a low blood clotting factor known as Von Willebrand's Disease (or vWd) which is an inherited trait. Rasca received the customary pre-surgery vWd testing at the shelter prior to her impending surgery, and her clotting factor results were only 8%!! This means she had a very HIGH risk of bleeding out during surgery without the proper, and costly, pre-preparation plasma with clotting factors! Animal shelters are not financially stable enough to provide the blood products that could possibly be needed regarding VWD, therefore, Rasca would have been euthanized. Thankfully, DPR rushed sweet Rasca into their care! The spay surgery was completed with regular plasma, luckily, being the only blood product needed. The cost of the routine pre-op examination, pre-op diagnostics, the surgery itself, post-op recovery and care, not to mention the additional fee for plasma, has left a large dent in DPR’s finances. Our rescues count on contributions to keep their missions afloat, and at this time, DPR needs our assistance. DPR has multiple Dobes at any given time who have medical needs, and they never say ‘no’ to a Dobe with a chance to live a happy and healthy life! If possible, could you please help SND assist Rasca and DPR by making a donation to help offset the high cost of this spay surgery? Please remember, NO amount is ever too small, and each gift is greatly appreciated! Donations can easily be forwarded via PayPal, or USPS, just click on the tab that coincides with your preference. Want to se a beautiful and happy Girlie ready to start her new life? Just click right here https://www.doberman911.org. Our rescues, the Dobermans and we at SND are forever grateful for your continuing support! Beth McCahren, Rasca's SND Case Manager. |

Teddy!!
|
August, 2023: Well this sweet, gorgeous, all natural, youngster has found himself in quite a pickle! Lost, alone, and slowly dying. Teddy lives in Florida and just walked himself into a place of business looking for food. The shop owner tried, through social media, to find his owner but no one came forward. Then Teddy was taken to West Palm Beach Animal Control and they contacted one Doberman Rescue that had no room and so the Super Angels from Doberman Rescue League (DRL) in Oakland Park, Florida jumped to save this Teddy Bear! During the normal vet visit for new adoptees, the dreaded heartworms were found, and the disease was very advanced. Due to the indifference(?) of his owners, this beauty was never given heartworm preventative. So, at only 2 years of age, the advanced state he is in is stunningly sad. Since it takes 6 to 7 months for the mosquito larvae to turn into an adult heartworm after the bite, Teddy had been living with this for quite some time. Without the DRL’s intervention, this gorgeous boy would have died a horrible death drowning in his own fluid as his heart tried to maintain function. His lifespan was now only, at most, a few agonizing months. Treating heartworm is not only expensive, but it is a long-term treatment. It will take 6 months of treatment and monitoring before he is ready to be adopted. Meanwhile he is being a very sweet and thankful boy to his Foster Mom. Sterling!!
|
August, 2023: Sterling is a magnificent 9 year old boy who is somewhat of a traveling man - but his history is a fairly pleasant one. This gorgeous boy was discovered in the backyard of an abandoned house in Miami. No one seems to know his backstory. Our most excellent friends at Doberman Rescue League in Oakland Park, Florida took Sterling under their loving wings, and placed him in a dream home with a very devoted foster. Tragically, Sterling's foster passed away and Sterling returned to Doberman Rescue League. As fate would have it, Sterling got lucky again and found a place with another amazing foster couple - but sadly, lightning struck twice for dear Sterling. Sterling's most recent foster Dad passed away. As fate would have it, Sterling's foster Mum loves Sterling with all her heart and is a highly esteemed Forever Foster. Sterling will stay with foster Mum forever! They are completely bonded and they are bringing each other much comfort and companionship...all foster canines should be this fortunate. We applaud Doberman Rescue League and Sterling's family for their dedication and commitment to dear Sterling...I know they will bring much light and peace to one another. Recently, Sterling developed a mass near his anus that has started bleeding. He is scheduled for surgical removal of that mass soon, whereupon the growth will be sent to pathology. Our boy continues to do well and foster Mum is taking amazing care of him. The surgical estimates and aftercare will run about $1500.00 - a big chunk of change for a non-profit rescue - and Doberman Rescue League Angels needs our help! As stated, Sterling is an essential and treasured family member, and WE NEED to help with his expenses any way we can so he can continue to help his grieving family while he thrives in their care. We thank you for any help you can provide and look forward to Sterling's recovery so please join us - it's easy and much appreciated! Chelsea!!
|
August, 2023: So beautiful and in such danger! Gorgeous 6 year old Chelsea was found wandering a boat yard in Miami, Florida. Luckily the man who owned the boat yard took her in and then contacted Doberman Rescue League of Oakland Park, Florida for help. Chelsea was limping and not putting any weight on her front left leg. The DRL Angels then took her to the vet for x-rays. It did show infection in the leg so they started a course of antibiotics. Some symptoms got better but the leg, overall, did not improve. Back to the Vet who, after consultation with a colleague, then said that her leg needed to be amputated. It became apparent that a bone infection had spread. Without that operation, Chelsea would very likely become septic and die as osteomyelitis set in. DRL desperately needs assistance to pay for Chelsea’s operation to save her life! They will have her spayed at the same time to avoid further anesthesia risk and surgery. Won’t you please help save gorgeous Chelsea’s life and donate anything you can? We need to get her well so her shining eyes will continue to delight anyone who sees her. It's easy to donate and all gifts are greatly appreciated! Jinx!!
|
July, 2023: ONE of the problems with backyard breeders (BYB) or backyard ‘greeders’ as we prefer to call them, is that once their ‘money makers’ (dogs) can no longer produce and deliver puppies, they are declared ‘no longer of use’ then discarded in one way or another. The lucky ones find themselves at Doberman rescues... The Rescue Warriors of Bluegrass Doberman Rescue located in Louisville, Kentucky have rescued several ‘throwaways’ from the same BYB, with one of them being adorable, sweet and loving Jinx. Jinx has been in rescue for two months and has had (previously untreated) diarrhea from the get go! All of the usual protocols have been executed to no avail: Rx food, meds, pumpkin, fiber, chicken and rice, etc, however the diarrhea not only continues but is in fact worsening! X-rays and a sonogram have been carried through with no abnormal results observed. Jinx has seen *FIVE* different vets thus far (read: $$$) with still no answers and still diarrhea, poor girl! The next step is to have both upper and lower GI scopes done which will hopefully provide a definitive diagnosis leading to specific treatment. These types of invasive tests will require a specialist (more $$$). Jinx is unable to get adequate rest because of her diarrhea and will sometimes be found sleeping in her own waste. For Jinx’s overall health, this complicated malady cannot continue. Due to the upcoming procedures and costs, BDR has come to our SND family for assistance. Jinx deserves to be cured of her gut complications and to be healthy! If possible, won’t you please donate ANY amount toward her care? It's easy and NO amount is ever too small and all gifts are greatly appreciated! click on the tab that supports the type of donation that you prefer using. You can also elect to use good old USPS. The Dobes, the dedicated rescues and we at SND thank you in advance and are so very grateful for your continued generosity!! Want to see a pretty face for inspiration? Canela!!
|
July, 2023: This beautiful, fawn Dobergirl is two year old Canela. Barely out of puppy-hood, she was previously confined/chained in a yard, on what photos show to be, a very short chain. No attention given to her, no toys, bugs and hot weather to bear with and just consistent total boredom and defeat. Who knows how often she even had food and water? So, time continues to pass by slowly, day after day and for whatever reason, Canela decided to eat a rock! Was she hungry? Did she think it was a toy? (I’m leaning toward hunger). Unbelievably, her so called ‘owner’ knew she ate the rock and did nothing about it for ONE WEEK! That is until poor Canella was deathly ill and unable to eat. This naturally resulted in major weight loss paired with severe dehydration. After watching Canela quickly decline, what did the ‘owner’ do? She decided to take Canela to have her life terminated! Easy as that, get rid of the burden! The veterinarian’s staff suggested Ardis and her team of Dobe Saviors (ie: Doberman Pinscher Rescue located in Fillmore, California) be contacted as it was the only possible way to hopefully save Canela’s life. Canela was luckily relinquished to DPR! It took several calls to locate a vet who was able to perform the major surgery. The surgical team rehydrated Canela to the point where surgery was safe. They were cautiously optimistic that Canela would survive and if she did survive, the question was ‘would she have to have a section of her intestines removed’. So far, Canela has not had to have additional surgery, however, the EMERGENT medical care she’s received has come at a great cost to DPR, we’re talking over $8,000! The money spent was well worth saving sweet Canela even though it was a great hit to the rescue’s funds. Ardis and her rescue team have taken in many, many ill Dobermans, and DPR really needs our help to monetarily recover from this large veterinary bill. Let’s support DPR the same as they support the Dobes in need! Donating is so easy, just click on the tab that supports the type of donation that you prefer using. You can also elect to use good old USPS. NO gift is ever too small!! It’s only because of our you, our SND family, that so many unwanted Dobermans are able to be saved and then adopted into loving homes!! Want to see a dejected young girl? - the thumbnail here is her new happy face! Just click right here https://www.doberman911.org. Canela, DPR and we at SND thank you in advance for your continued support of our awesome rescues! Beth McCahren, Canela's SND Case Manager. |

Copper!!
|
July, 2023: This beautiful baby, Copper, is fortunate to be alive. Copper was picked up as a stray in San Bernardino, California on 6/23 with an open compound fracture of his arm - and sat there, in a cage, without any medical attention whatsoever. No vaccinations, wound care or attention. He's only about a year old. Dear Copper was set to be terminated on 7/3, but thanks to the good people of High Desert Doberman Rescue in New Mexico, Copper has been saved and now knows what love is. His poor foreleg was an utter mess. The leg was completely degloved, shattered and just open for infection. Our hero's at HDDR finally got him the veterinary attention he desperately needed. Although amputation was necessary, Copper is feeling so much better and is proving to be an enchanting Dobe puppy... one just has to cringe to imagine this puppy sitting in a cage for a week with such an injury. In this wonderful country which we are proud to call home, things like this shouldn't happen... but they do happen more frequently than we would like to think. But, make no mistake, Special Needs Dobermans is here to help Copper and HDDR save this little sweetie so he can finally find the life he so deserves. No animal should suffer like this beautiful baby did. We all have Anthony and his compatriots at High Desert Doberman Rescue to thank for saving this wonderful puppy's life (and Copper is just one of many HDDR has helped). This long-distance save did not come cheaply – we all have felt the effect of increased costs for vet services nationwide. Initial estimates for this amputation were quoted at $7,000 – an amount that would have been around 1,000-1,500 in a local NM clinic!! However, Copper was still in CA and needed immediate attention. Another clinic was contacted where estimates were $2-3K less. Copper's expenses are off the charts - more than $5000 at this point in time because of some bleeding issues. Our dear pup may need follow up physical therapy and vWd testing once he recovers from this horrible ordeal. BUT Copper will recover and go on to be adopted into loving hearts. It will be a glorious ending to a tragic beginning. HDDR cannot make these miracles like Copper's story happen without the help of Special Needs Dobermans and YOUR help. Please, take a few minutes to have a look at this precious baby's pictures and open your wallets and hearts. Saving this beautiful boy was breathtakingly expensive, but he is pure gold. Please help so SND and HDDR can save more Dobes like Copper. Your gift can be sent via USPS or PayPal. Just click on the tab which corresponds to your donation preference. Want to see a gorgeous Copper?? Just click right here https://www.doberman911.org. I am infinitely grateful for HDDR’s efforts! Thank you from Copper, High Desert Doberman Rescue, SND and me, Leslie Michell-Young, Copper's SND Case Manager - Looking forward to watching this beautiful baby boy grow up!! |

Sampson!!
|
June, 2023:
Where’s Sherlock Holmes when you need him? This gorgeous,
7 year old DobeGent has presented Bluegrass Doberman Rescue (BDR) in
Louisville, Kentucky with a very mysterious case. Sampson was
an owner surrender to a North Carolina Shelter. They were moving
and couldn’t take him. They left him with heartworms - indicative
of the kind of care he wasn't getting - so preventable and tragic when
not. BDR hesitate NOT, got him and treated the heartworms and
off he went to a Foster Family. During that time he got some training
but still wasn’t getting any inquiries. Very strange considering
how beautiful he is. The foster said he was losing quite a bit
of weight so back to vet he went. He still had hookworms and now
they found a low thyroid too. He was treated for the hookworms
twice and put on thyroid meds. Still not gaining weight.
So Sampson was taken to a clinic in Cincinnati who started from scratch
to find the reason for the weight loss. Many tests done that were
all normal. Many tests mean many dollars!!!! Sampson does
have some sores on him so a biopsy was taken and BDR is awaiting the
results. Good news is that he does seem to be regaining some weight.
Sampson is at a new foster and is presenting as a very sweet
boy who gets along with other dogs and loves people - thyroid issues
can certainly affect every aspect of a Dobe's physiology and
health. He needs a family that wants a loving Velcro Dobe.
Hopefully the biopsies will come back as negative and maybe the change
of environment and different food is what he needs. Perhaps since
his family left him, he could be grieving at being left behind?
We're thinking his new life will end that too. Won't you please
help us help BDR cover these very expensive tests – over $3000
so far. Without their help and their dogged detective work, Mr.
Sampson may not be in as good shape as he is now! Start now - your donation
can be sent via USPS
or PayPal. Just click on the tab which corresponds to your donation
preference. Your support is vital!! Want to see Strongman
Sampson, getting stronger all the time?? Paws crossed!!

Bubba!!
|
May, 2023: This darling puppy is only ten months old, and just to look at him, you can tell that his short life has been nothing short of torturous!! "Bubba" was dropped off at a California shelter as a ‘stray’ (aren’t they all strays??). He presented with horribly inflamed skin, barbarically chopped off ears at the head, and, an untreated broken, and already healed, left front leg! This could easily have occurred at a bait dog training camp. At the shelter, his painful flesh was diagnosed as demodectic mange, and was successfully treated. The broken/already healed leg was splinted twice (???). Bubba was housed there for an entire month before the Rescue Warriors of Doberman Pinscher Rescue, located in Fillmore, California, were finally contacted. Following his initial vet check up, it was determined Bubba will need to see an orthopedic specialist to evaluate his leg. It is hopeful, however improbable, that the leg can be saved. As we all know, just the word "specialist" indicates $$$ which is why DPR has come to our SND family for assistance with the proper diagnosis and treatment of Bubba’s leg. DPR has multiple special needs Dobermans at any given time, yet they never say no to a Dobe in need. If possible, and if able, a donation in any amount would be greatly appreciated! NO amount is ever too small! Your gift can be sent via USPS or PayPal. Just click on the tab which corresponds to your donation preference. As always, our many dedicated rescues and we at SND are deeply grateful for your continued support. Look at the hopeful face of a noble DoberKid... Just click right here https://www.doberman911.org. Bella!!
|
May, 2023: Today, we bring you a beautiful young lady from the great state of Washington. Dear Bella had been doing quite well in foster after being picked up as a stray and rescued by a very new all-breed group, Paws and Claws. She was doing quite well until the recent morning when it was discovered dear Bella could barely get up and walk, let alone eat her breakfast or have a drink. Our sweetie was taken to an emergency vet, whereupon there was an ominous discovery - Bella had an abdominal mass that was making her feel awful. It was initially thought that an intestinal blockage was the problem. An ultrasound proved inconclusive and so further diagnostics such as laparoscopic investigation or surgery were required to further understand what was going on with our young beauty - she's guesstimated to be only 2. Exploratory surgery revealed the mass to be ovarian and was biopsied to determine nature such as a resorbing dead fetus(es) or worst case, a tumor. This unexpected turn of events have turned Bella's rescuers, Paws and Claws Rescue on their financial ear. They are a very NEW rescue in Washington state, and they're doing their very best to help their new Doberlady through this illness. When a new all-breed rescue takes on one of our beloved breed, we are, and we hope you will also feel compelled to assist them in this budget-busting, rescue-killing endeavor to save Bella. All of us who adore Dobermans need to unite and support Paws and Claws Rescue - who have come to Special Needs Dobermans for some help for Bella - by sending a donation and a loud show of support to help this beautiful DoberGirl get well. Please, share her with everyone you know and show the world what the Doberman Community can do to help their own. Please begin now - emergency surgery at an ER clinic means many $$. You can give via USPS or PayPal, just click on the tab of your choice and follow directions. Want a look at a beautiful lady before her trouble hit?? Zoe!!
|
May, 2023: Such a beautiful girl to end up with such a horrible condition! Zoe as you can see is a gorgeous 5 year old DobeLady. Last month Zoe found herself in a Stockton, California shelter extremely swollen between her anus and vulva. Owner dump? Stray? From the looks of her she was likely no longer the cash cow for backyard breeding she’d been! She was covered in ticks and was extremely underweight. The vets at the shelter hoped that spaying her would solve the swelling problem, but it didn’t. Zoe was put on death row because of this beyond the shelter’s capability and resources to fix. With only hours left to live, Hair of the Dog Rescue out of Los Angeles stepped up to take her. Thankfully, another of SND’s sponsored rescues, Bella & Sunshine Rescue in SoCal assisted Hair Of The Dog by pulling Zoe and transporting her to L.A. The vets first thought the swelling was caused due to overbreeding but then they noticed that the ballooning went down when she peed and increased as her bladder filled. She was seen by a surgeon who diagnosed the problem as a bilateral perineal hernia. Her bladder literally pops in and out of the hernia. If the bladder, or other abdominal organs, gets trapped in the hernia and become strangulated, this will become a life or death emergency. This surgery is going to be expensive – first estimate is 6,000 plus because of its complexity. It will require moving some muscle tissue from the hip and hamstring to close the large hole. HOTD is trying desperately to shop a surgeon for lower costs. Through all this, Miss Zoe is a typical Doberman: sweet, loves people and other dogs. Right now, her play is limited until she can have the surgery. Hair of the Dog is a new 501(c)(3) and they have come to SND for this budget-buster expense. They are an all-foster rescue focused on senior dogs, notably Dobermans. This is going to be huge hit to this new Rescue but they are committed to helping Zoe. Please give any contribution you can so that Zoe can live a normal life and play again without fear!!!! Please join us in supporting this truly wonderful effort by HOTD! Please join us in helping them keep the faith they have shown in taking on Miss Zoe's needs. You can give via USPS or PayPal, just click on the tab of your choice and follow directions. It's that easy to share!! Want a look at a beautiful lady finally enjoying a soft throne?? Just click right here https://www.doberman911.org for a smile!! THANK YOU!! Miracle
!!
|
UPDATE - May, 2023: Meet Miss
Miracle once again - she needs one more miracle and she hopes you help
her with that! We're facing another expensive surgery here but
the following update from DPR will give you an idea of why this is necessary
and why we can't refuse! From Miracle's advocate Colleen:
"...Our sweet girl Miracle has certainly had more than her fair
share of challenges to overcome. It was nothing short of a miracle that
the incredible surgeons at Abby Pet Hospital were able to put her leg
back together using a metal plate. She then had bleeding complications
following her routine spay a few weeks ago that required another surgery.
She has overcome every challenge beautifully and remains the happiest
Dobie girl you will ever meet. Unfortunately, the metal plate in her
leg will need to be removed before she can find a forever home. The
bone has healed completely but her body is rejecting the foreign metal
and her skin will not close properly leaving her open to the possibility
of infection. We are working with our local vet to have the plate removed
as soon as possible..." The need is vital and the help from you
is even more so - you can add your help with the links below! THANK
YOU!! SND Case Management Team.

Libby!!
|
May, 2023: Four year old Libby was saved from confinement at an animal shelter in October 2022 by the Rescue Warriors of Doberman Pinscher Rescue, located in Fillmore, California. She was quite pregnant at that time, and shortly after rescue, she did deliver her babies. Libby was an excellent mother to her pups! At the end of January, when her milk dried up, she was spayed – no more puppies for her! Thankfully, Libby’s spay recovery was uneventful. There were no health concerns at all until recently, when during a routine look at her mouth and teeth, a ‘ lump’ along her jaw line was observed. A finding such as this cannot be dismissed or 'put off’ until later as jaw growths are quite concerning. Libby was immediately seen by DPR’s veterinarian where the mass was excised and sent for biopsy. (The biopsy results have not yet been received, however, you can rest assured if any follow up treatment is required, it will be provided!) From DPR: “Libby is such a sweet and social girl that we don’t want anything to stand in the way of her being adopted into a great home.” While we await the biopsy results, there is an outstanding balance for Libby’s surgical procedure, and DPR has come to our SND Family for assistance. At any given time, Ardis and her Rescue Angels have several Dobies being medically managed. Therefore, any help we can provide is greatly appreciated! Remember, NO amount donated is ever too small!! You can give via USPS or PayPal, just click on the tab of your choice and follow directions. Easy Peasy!! Thank you so much for helping DPR with bringing sweet Libby back to health. DPR and our SND Family are, as always, deeply appreciative of your generosity!! Want another look at a blossoming beauty?? It's springtime! Louie!!
|
April, 2023: Dear, handsome Louie of approximately 14 months is our newest case at SND. As you all know, we are continually grateful for the Doberman rescues that help our Dobe orphans recover from whatever trauma that has befallen them. Ardis and her army of Doberman Warriors of Doberman Pinscher Rescue in Fillmore, California, recently received a call from a local shelter regarding sweet Louie, as his injuries were too much for the shelter's veterinarian to adequately treat given their time and resource constraints. Somewhere along the line, poor Louie had taken a very nasty whack in the head, resulting in a busted tooth, which went on to form a very painful abscess. And if that's not bad enough, Louie also has entropion eyelids - meaning his lashes are rubbing directly against his eyes which causes a lot of abrasion on the cornea and can then lead to blindness. This dear sweetheart remains cheerful and engaging, even though he's in considerable pain. He's a perfect example of the nobility of his breed - loving and sweet despite all the unpleasantness he's going through. DPR has asked the SND family to help raise funds so this wonderful, young and handsome boy can get the treatment he needs so he can recover from all he's been through and wind up in the loving family he’s always deserved! Please join me in welcoming dear Louie and make a donation to his care. It's easy! Just click here now via USPS or PayPal, and choose your preferred link for instructions. With your help and love, Louie will be feeling much, much better! Thank you!! Leslie Michell-Young, Proud to be Louie's SND Case Manager. |

Rajah!!
|
April, 2023: On the 27th, sweet Rajah was brought to an emergency room nearly a month(!!??) after eating a corncob. She was brought the emergency clinic when she began showing signs of distress and quit eating. They immediately diagnosed a blockage in the small intestine and very specialized surgeons would be required. When the owner got the estimate for $15,000 for surgery and aftercare, she chose euthanasia. Luckily, Doberman Pinscher Rescue (DPR) of Fillmore, California was contacted and once again stepped in to help save this precious red girl. Frantically searching for an emergency clinic who could take her on the spot which they did, Rajah was admitted for surgery. This 1 year 9 month old girl will need every bit of her youthful energy to get through this. With the corncob still in her small intestine, she is now showing signs of sepsis – and like a Doberman - all the while she was still trying to be frisky and friendly. Luckily the Rescue Angels of DPR found an emergency vet that would could take her immediately. She is was stabilized for surgery on today, April 28. The picture of her clearly shows the distress in her eyes. She is definitely scared and very likely in pain. Poor girl. Hopefully her surgery will be a success and she will not go septic and succumb to this delay in getting her immediate attention. How long had it been? Who will ever know. Everyone cross everything for this girl! She’s gonna need it! Please, please hold her hand and send her positive thoughts and some $$ if you can - you just know this will NOT be inexpensive. Henry!!
|
April, 2023:
The sweetheart
I’m going to introduce you to is Henry. Henry was a stray
who, in 2021, was rescued by the angels of Doberman Pinscher Rescue
of Pennsylvania. He was an older fellow at approximately eight
years of age and was, at that time, in dire straits - poor hearing,
impaired vision, skin infections, joint pain accompanied with limited
range of motion and intestinal worms. He also had a large, painful
ulcerated mass on a toe on his right front paw. The SND Warriors
(you) assisted with the removal of the mass and all of Henry’s
issues were addressed and either healed or improved as they could be!
He was living his best life!! DPRPA decided that due to
Henry’s age and physical condition he would be kept in their care
as a hospice Dobie. That bit history brings us to today –
for the past few months Henry has been observed chewing on what was
left of the toe that had had the ulcerated mass removed. He’s
had numerous treatments of antibiotics, foot baths, double cones, but
there’s been no positive improvement. At this point Henry’s
vet states the only option left is to amputate the painful toe which
will allow the remaining bones to heal and alleviate the pain.
Henry is ten years old now but he still loves his yard, loves walks
and really loves going to ball games to get much desired extra attention!
This sweet boy deserves to live the rest of his days loving life and
pain free! Won’t you join us in assisting DPRPA with the
cost of Henry’s amputation and aftercare? No gift is ever
too small!! Your donation can be easily made by USPS
or PayPal, just click on the desired tab to read directions on how you
can help! Want another look at a really handsome Gent? Just

for your continued generosity which helps save more and more of our
Darling Dobermans and makes your heart feel good!! Beth McCahren,

Oakley!!
|
April, 2023: One sees all manner of terrible injuries at animal shelters; often no one knows how these injuries came about. Oakley is a lovely girl who is now with Ardis's Army at Doberman Pinscher Rescue in Fillmore, California. Oakley found herself at a shelter with an awful and perplexing injury to her chest. Somehow, Oakley's chest was literally sliced down the middle from between her forearms to the bottom of her rib cage. The shelter had her moved to the hospital where she was carefully sutured and bandaged which required careful observation while it healed – we all know what that means: $$$$. When she was out of danger and healed up, she was brought along to DPR. After weeks of bandage changes and cleaning the laceration, we're pleased to report that our girl is doing very well and is happily enjoying life at the ranch with DPR’s army of friends, both bipedal and quad. Oakley is completely healed, but Doberman Pinscher Rescue has incurred some considerable expense from her hospital stay, checkups and first aid supplies and bandage changes for Oakley. It is because of YOUR contributions to nonprofit rescues that make Oakley's recovery possible. DPR has asked SND for fundraising help to try and recoup the expenses dear Oakley incurred on her journey to recovery. Please, make a contribution today on behalf of sweet Oakley, so DPR can continue to help more deserving Dobermans. You can begin now via USPS or PayPal, just click on your preferred tab for instructions. Want another look at this beautiful Girlie for inspiration? Just click right here https://www.doberman911.org! Thank you... from Oakley, Doberman Pinscher Rescue and myself, Leslie Michell-Young, SND Case Manager for Oakley - grateful for dear Oakley's recovery! |

Brad!!
|
April, 2023: So young to be going through such pain. Brad is an 18 month- old boy with a horrendous looking foreleg. He came into a southern California shelter with an injury or possible deformity to his left front leg. Who knows how long he’d been suffering. The area on his arm had a huge swelling that was draining and he could not put any weight on the leg. The shelter did not have the resources to deal with the injury so that’s when the Rescue Angels of Doberman Pinscher Rescue in Fillmore stepped in to help. After two failed attempts with antibiotics to treat the leg, the decision was finally made to amputate. This decision is never made lightly but he was in obvious pain and distress. The Vet said: "...once he loses that 'dead weight' he will be able to run and play and be pain free." Brad’s journey has been a tough one so far. Please contribute to help this Dobe-saving Rescue as these operations and recovery are not cheap. I can’t wait to see the look on his face change from the sad, pained, begging for help look he has now to a bright, happy youngster! Any amount will help! Please join in - donations can be made via USPS or PayPal, just click on your preferred tab for instructions. Want another look at this hopeful handsome young Dude? We hope to give you a happy new Brad soon!! Just click right here https://www.doberman911.org! Thank you from Brad, DPR, SND for your support!! Lorri Ketterman, SND Case Manager for dear Brad! |

Fury!!
|
April, 2023:
There was a
time, not too long ago, when this gorgeous girl - now known as Fury
- was loved and had a home. Recently, however, she found herself first
homeless, then in an animal shelter. There are so many dogs being surrendered
now, that owners (so-called) are dumping their unwanted dogs on lonely
roads or far away fields because shelters are far beyond capacity. It
is even more sickening when the animal is a senior and has an obvious
medical problem, and beautiful Fury is a case in point. Old and possible
medical issues are sure flags for quick death row. Fury is about
9 years old and stop-you-in-your-tracks gorgeous. Her beauty belies
her years; she is a showstopper. Why, you may ask, would anyone desert
this angel? Well, for one, she has a tumor between her shoulders, so
some heartless individual dumped her leaving her fate the equivalent
of a crap shoot... but luck was on Fury's side. Fury found herself
on the fast track to Doberman Pinscher Rescue - Ardis' s Army of mighty
angels, who turn no dog away. Even if they're seniors. Even
if they're old. Even if they're hospice – mark that –
especially all of those! Ardis has healing plans for Fury. This
beauty has already visited DPR's able veterinarians and they will go
forward to excise Fury's tumor, spay her and find out if Fury has a
malignancy. Whatever the case may be, Fury will get the help she
needs so she can live the rest of her life - however how long that may
be - in happiness and love. This does not come without considerable
expense, and Fury's care estimates top out around $2000.00 for now.
Not cheap, but when one thinks that this is what people would
spend on a set of tires, it's infuriating. Doberman Pinscher Rescue
is going to do everything they can in the universe to help our doll,
and they're going to need your help. Please, send a donation to
Special Needs Dobermans in Fury's name to help gather the funds for
her surgery, and I guarantee once you spend some time looking at Fury's
pictures, you will feel the warm fuzzies all over too.

Scotty!!
|
April, 2023: You have to wonder how such a creature of beauty winds up horrible injured on the streets. Scotty is a beautiful red boy (he's only a year old, at most) who was found on the streets of Georgia with a horrifically fractured front leg. This stellar little guy was fortunately picked up by the local ACO in DeKalb County, whereupon the wonderful bipeds of Volunteer State Doberman Rescue in Tennessee heard of his plight, snagged Scotty on March 28th and got him promptly to the University of Tennessee Veterinary School. The vet school of course is the best place he could have gone and there his mangled leg was surgically repaired with several plates, screws and pins (see insets before and after below). Somewhere near the beginning of Scotty's short life, his ears were cropped and his tail docked, which infers (at least to me) that at some point someone cared enough about him that he had these surgeries. But alas, it's painfully apparent his ears did not have the necessary aftercare to make them stand - and Scotty is rather skinny. No one knows or will ever know where he came from. Scotty's in a wonderful place now with VSDR. He has a great prognosis and is presently happy and being everything a beautiful Doberman puppy should be. So one needs not imagine what Scotty's fate could have been. Volunteer State Doberman Rescue comes to the rescue of all the orphaned Dobermans they've been made aware of - a costly endeavor - no matter what their medical needs are. Scotty has had and continues to have the best veterinary care thru the selfless kindness of VSDR. This care does not come cheaply as we’re all aware. Scotty's expenses have already approached $4000.00 and climbing with aftercare, and VSDR Rescue Angels have appealed to Special Needs Dobermans for financial (and moral!) support for young Scotty. We at SND are very proud of our supporters and we are forever grateful for their (your) continued kindness to the many rescues that do their very best to help our beloved Dobermans. Please consider sending a donation to SND to help VSDR remain solvent and in the business of saving Dobes. Their kind hearts have saved countless Dobes, and they will continue this mission with your help. Join us now! Your gift can be sent by either USPS or PayPal. Just click on the links for instructions on how to send help to Scotty and VSDR! Want a look at Scotty's "Beam Me Up" smile? Just click right here https://www.doberman911.org! THANK YOU! Leslie Michell-Young, Scotty’s SND Case Manager aka Scotty's buddy - how adorable is this puppy??

Bonita!!
|
April, 2023:
Bonita means
pretty in Spanish. This sweet, 8-year-old Senior Lady is certainly that
but she has not had such a pretty time of it since 2020. She was
found, probably hit by a car, unable to get up or use her back legs.
Thankfully, she was rescued by the DoberAngels at High Desert Doberman
Rescue in Belen, New Mexico. She was taken for immediate evaluation
and treatment of her injuries. X-rays revealed that surgery would
be needed to correct both her broken legs. The right leg developed
complications and eventually had to be amputated. Being the wonderful
Doberlady that she is, she bounced back and was doing very well with
the loss of her leg. A few days ago, she suddenly started having
episodes of violent vomiting. Fearing the dreaded bloat or an
obstruction, Bonita's Angels rushed her to the emergency hospital.
She had severe dehydration after not being able to keep anything down.
She was kept at the hospital for observation and treatment if
surgery became necessary. Luckily, whatever the obstruction was, it
either dissolved or passed after 48 hours of fluid push. No sock
or toy to be found. Now Bonita is back home recovering under many
watchful eyes. Everyone knows how expensive emergency treatment
is - in addition to being kept under critical care observation in the
hospital for 48 hours. Please help support this wonderful
Rescue that has done so much to save Dobermans by sending in a donation.
Any amount will help them keep up the good work! Won't you
join us now? Your gift can be sent by either USPS
or PayPal. Just click on the links for instructions on how to
send some love to Bonita and HDDR! Want a look at a Beautiful
Bonita? Just click right here https://www.doberman911.org!
And stay tuned where you can visit her on her own Senior Page soon and
you can send her some sponsorship love too!! THANK YOU! Lorri
Ketterman, Bonita’s SND Case Manager. |

Vala!!
|
April, 2023: I’m anxious to tell you about an adorable 13 week old female puppy who was an owner surrender to animal control. Luckily for the pup, the Rescue Warriors of High Desert Doberman Rescue located in Belen, New Mexico immediately stepped up for her, and she is now under their expert care! Her name is Vala and she couldn’t be any cuter! It was obvious that this girlie was going to need evaluation and possible surgeries to correct what appeared to be serious abnormalities in her front legs. Consultation was quickly arranged but the news wasn't exactly grand... She has been diagnosed as having Severe Bilateral Elbow "Incongorati" a congenital defect. A simpler explanation is that the bones of her elbows are a very abnormal shape causing them to not ‘fit’ into their appropriate spaces properly. This causes the deformities and so discomfort and/or pain. Vala’s deformities are inoperable because of the severity in both of her legs. At this point she is able to run and play, albeit awkwardly. In the future, hydrotherapy and physical therapy are being considered to keep her comfortable and mobile. Braces may be needed at a later date as well. This little darling is so young and hopefully early treatment will positively impact her future. Let’s band together and donate what we can to get this baby the therapies she needs to keep her happy and playful! Remember, NO amount donated is ever too small! Donations can be made via USPS or PayPal, just click on your preferred tab for instructions. Let’s give this little Miss Vala a running start for her current and future wellbeing!! Anything you can offer will be greatly appreciated by Vala, the HDDR Warriors and all of us at SND. We thank you so much for your faithful generosity! Beth McCahren, Vala's SND Case Manager! |

Gryphon!!
|
March, 2023: Gorgeous Gryphon is just a youngster - he’s only three years old. However, for those three years, he’d been given only very minimal care! Gryphon was just too much of a burden to be bothered with and the owner finally decided to relinquish him to the rescue warriors of J9’s Doberman & Bunny Rescue located in Detroit, Michigan. The previous owner stated the reason he was giving Gryphon up was due to an "extended family member not treating Gryphon well’ yet the same can be said for the owner as Gryphon came in painfully thin at 20 pounds underweight, had never had any vaccinations, wasn’t neutered, he had existing wounds that weren’t being tended to and… you guessed it, he’s also heartworm positive! Sadly, treatment for eradicating heartworms is wretched (in cost and in also hard physically) and requires very restrictive activity as the worms die off after being dosed with Arsenic - yes, that's right, Arsenic! That's the only thing that will kill adult heartworms. This leads to mandatory crating for weeks on end which is definitely no fun, especially for a young Dobe. Gryphon’s neuter will be delayed until he is free of those blasted worms. Despite his life of neglect, Gryphon has remained resilient. He’s a well mannered, gentle, loving boy with a very sweet personality that makes him a true joy to be around! J9’s D&BR has come to us Dobie lovers for assistance with the high cost of treatment. We all want to see Gryphon healthy so he can ultimately be adopted into a loving, forever home! If possible, won’t you please make a donation of any amount toward this fellow’s care? And remember, NO amount donated is ever too small. Your gift can be sent by either USPS or PayPal. Just click on the links for instructions on how you can be of help to Gryphon. It’s because of you, our SND family, that so many Dobermans have been and will continue to be saved! Let’s not let this sweet fellow down. The Gryphon and his fellow Dobes, the rescues and we at SND are eternally grateful for your continued support! Want to see a handsome Fam Prince? Just click right here https://www.doberman911.org! THANK YOU! Beth McCahren, Gryphon's SND Case Manager! |

Max...
!!
|
March, 2023: Meet Maxachusetts… aka Max! Max is a model (literally) 3-year-old boy. His regal picture was one of those used in an article to promote the Dog Mountain Rescue (DMR) in Willits, California. This young, rambunctious boy loves to climb! He has always been a climber while with DMR and maybe that’s why he wound up in the shelter in the first place? The why’s and how’s will remain a mystery only Max knows. Max loves to test his kennel to see how far he can climb so he can go exploring. He’s very friendly! DMR put a top on his kennel to thwart his great escape attempts. During one daring attempt, the outer toe on his left front foot got caught in one of the fence spaces on his way back down the side. The fall left his toe dangling at the first joint which meant the remaining joints had to be amputated. His recovery is going to be long and painful. Every time he steps, it puts pressure on the area with the sutures and is going to be very sore until it heals. He is scheduled for at least 4 more vet visits for evaluation and bandage changes. Please help us send love to this gorgeous boy to allow him be high- stepping and pain-free soon! All donations, every cent, are most welcome and will help the wonderful Dog Mountain Rescue Angels keep saving deserving Dobermans!!. Please do it now - just click on the PayPal or the USPS links for instructions. Want to get a look a Regal Max before his accident? Just click right here https://www.doberman911.org! THANK YOU! Logan
!!
|
March, 2023: Wonderful, sweet Logan is fresh out of the shelter, happily snagged by Bella and Sunshine Rescue in Ontario, California. At only 1 or so years, his life was saved by a caring shelter employee who contacted BS&R Angels during a transport. The urgency to get Logan out of the shelter was a priority, as poor Logan has fractures of both his tibia and fibula in his right rear leg (see inset below). While the source of the injury isn't known, what we do know is that any dog taken to a shelter with such serious fracture(s) is on the fast track to euthanasia. This most beautiful boy even had the shelter workers head over heels in love with him. Despite the obvious pain he was in, he made the rounds meeting the shelter staff and greeted all with typical Doberman love. The shelter staff were so impressed they even made a video of him introducing himself to the staff. It goes without saying that leg fractures are immobilizing and unbelievably painful - yet, this dear boy remained sweet, calm and composed when he arrived at the facility, and, remains his sweet self now that he's with Bella and Sunshine. There are a number of reasons we should be grateful here - the first is the fact that Logan's fracture is recent, meaning that there's a good chance his bones can be pinned with a fixator. The second is Logan is with the Angels of Bella and Sunshine Rescue - founded by the love of their volunteers for Dobermans. Logan is now making the necessary vet visits for consultation as to what his treatment plans might entail. Now, it's time for us to join Logan's treatment plan. Fracture repair is VERY expensive (even more so in these times), and BS&R is going to need our help through Special Needs Dobermans to get Logan fixed up. Please have a look at Logan's adorable face (he has a snoot cowlick! :))! and send him some love (and money). Won't you please begin helping now? It's easy, just click on the PayPal or the USPS links for instructions. Soon, and with your help, this sweetheart will be running, playing and doing all those goofy redboy Doberman things we all love. We're hoping for more pix soon but that cowlick should give you a smile for now - just click right here https://www.doberman911.org! THANK YOU! Leslie Michell-Young, SND Case Manager - loves Logan! |

Rocky
!!
|
March, 2023:
Rocky is a
wonderful 12+ years old red boy who has been leading the good life as
a ward of Bella & Sunshine Rescue in Ontario, California since last
October. Until last week that is... Near midnight
he was rushed to the emergency vet when he was not acting right.
He was heaving, kept eating grass, refused to come inside, and started
to drool and pant. We know those dreadful signs and sure enough
he was diagnosed with "simple" bloat - meaning his tummy had
not yet rotated/twisted. Rocky had three options, two were for
surgery and one was to send him home with medication and to monitor
his behavior. The latter was chosen because of his age, age-related
surgery risks, and the vet also didn’t think he was imminent danger.
At 5 a.m., he suddenly sat straight up and yelped. He whined
and became restless. So back to the ER he went. Stomach
still looked the same on the Xrays so he was put on much stronger pain
meds. Rocky was sent home with careful instructions and preparation
for euthanasia if he didn't improve. Twelve hours later he was
doing much better. He’s a fighter! Thank you to the
Bella & Sunshine Rescue Angels for seeing him through and for giving
him the chance to stay in the ring! His bills are up there with
two ER visits so it's SND's and your chance to pitch in for Rocky and
BS&R! Anything you can do to help and know every bit counts
and helps the Rescue to continue its good work to save more Dobermans!
You can begin now by sending a donation to help BS&R defray
the costs of Rocky's care so he can continue on the road to health!
Just do it now by using the link on the right or by USPS
so we can enable
the DALPR Angelscontinue to help more other precious Dobes like Merlot!
We are all hoping that he continues to get better!!
And, why not visit him on his Senior page (link below) and send him
some luvin'? THANK YOU!! Lorri Ketterman, Rocky's SND Case
Manager. |

Dusty
!!
|
UPDATE - March 14, 2023:
Since we first met Dusty in January this young boy has
had a happy life - that is until adolescent puppy incidents started
occurring. First a torn off dew claw, then a broken tooth.
That was bad enough... Then while undergoing a routine neuter which
turned into a cryptorchid nightmare, poor Dusty developed a massive
painful infection from which he couldn't recover. The Bella &
Sunshine Angels said a very sad goodbye to Dusty and let him go to his
peace - rest there sweet boy. You will always be remembered with
love. Let's share B&SR's caring with our support. Thank
you! SND Case Management Team. |

Jagger
!!
|
March, 2023: I have a sad story to tell you. This is about Jagger, a precious three year old who was in an animal shelter - afraid, emaciated, demodectic mange scattered from head to toe, and, not surprisingly, extremely shut down. The worried shelter staff reached out to the Rescue Warriors of Doberman Pinscher Rescue located in Fillmore, California, to please save Jagger! DPR of course took Jagger into their care and all was looking up: he was slowly gaining much needed weight, the mange was improving, he was learning to trust his caregivers and with all of the love he was receiving, his spirits were much better. Weeks later, Jagger had a day where he was a bit lethargic with little appetite and the next day he suddenly crashed! He was in extreme distress, he could barely walk, his gums were an unnatural color… so, he was therefore rushed to a trusted emergency hospital. He was diagnosed with double pneumonia and put in a tented oxygen crate. A feeding tube was placed as he couldn’t afford to lose any nutritional gain he'd made. The following day an ultrasound was performed and the results were devastating. A ‘significant’ mass was seen in Jagger’s stomach as well as some abnormalities of his kidneys. (The pneumonia was most likely secondary to the internal issues). The vet suspected lymphoma, however, an endoscopy would need done to obtain a biopsy for cancer clarification, and Jagger was not stable enough for the endo procedure. Even if the cancer could be treated, the results would only give him a few months and without quality of life. The decision was made, out of love, to let him go. Jagger was an ‘amazing’ dog and deserved every chance to live the good life he always should’ve had. Even though Jagger has crossed over The Bridge, his VERY large veterinarian fees remain. DPR always goes out of their way to provide the best of care for all of their rescues, and Jagger was a recipient of the very same care. Now, DPR really, really needs our help!! A VERY high cost case like this can easily wipe out funds for other Dobes in need! Won’t you please send any amount you possibly can to help DPR. NO amount donated is ever too small. Remember, it’s in memory and honor of wonderful, beloved Doberman, Jagger. Your gift is tax deductible, too. Just click on the links for either USPS or PayPal for instructions to donate. Please visit Jagger on our home page for a look at him in happier days - Just click here https://www.doberman911.org . As always, the Dobes, the rescues and we at SND thank you and are forever grateful for your continued faith and support! Beth McCahren, Jagger's SND Case Manager. Rest In Peace Sweet Prince - you are forever loved!! |

Hershey
& Rocky !!
|
UPDATE
- March 4, 2023: Almost a
year in the life of Hershey and Rocky and Rocky got the raw end of what
seemed like the perfect ending to a wonderful life with his gal pal
Hershey. Hershey fared better as she had fewer problems that would
be impacted by the neglect. His new family (see the promises below)
promised the world and delivered nothing but more negligence in the
end. As a diabetic, Rocky required consistent monitoring of his
sugar levels in order to prevent all the ravages diabetes can cause,
including blindness. He did NOT receive the promised care and
finally DRNV took the pair back into their custody! WOW!
The cost of neglect and DRNV's strong desire to keep their promise to
all their wards will come at a VERY large cost - we hope YOU will help
defray. Rocky has visited an ophthmalogist who determined that
with cataract surgery he will SEE again!! Okay, you can figure
out what that means in terms of cost - over $8K - a relatively small
price to pay to keep Rocky's sight and DRNV's promise to him - We hope
with all our might that you agree - Let's do this for Rocky and for
DRNV's future ability to help the next Doberman they save, won't you?
The links still work so PLEASE join us now!! THANK YOU from Rocky
- he'll give you a kiss when he SEES you!! :) Carol Belknap &

Viseryis
!!
|
March, 2023: This sweet, young, Doberboy of approximately 18 months with the mysterious name has an equally mysterious past. He was found as a stray by a Good Sam that helped him find his way to Saving Dobermankind Animal Rescue (SDAR) in Fountain, Colorado. Given his kind demeanor, he was named Viseryis after King Viseryis from the Game of Thrones saga. And, he is much like his namesake who was a kind, peaceful King who went through great sadness in his life. Our Viseryis is already on the road to leave his sadness behind and rule all those in his realm with his sweetness and love. When Viseryis was found he was favoring his left foreleg. After x-rays it was confirmed that at some point this boy likely had been run over crushing the bones which did not heal correctly. Luckily, the damage wasn’t to the radius, ulna or humerus – the carpals and below show misalignment and fractures of the metacarpals (see inset below). It was also suspected by sign that he is a possible distemper survivor. Fortunately for our little King, his leg has been stabilized with hardware and his prognosis is great! He should be able to walk normally again fairly soon. As we all know, orthopedic cases are always expensive. His bill is well over $3500 so far even with a generous discount for most of the surgeon’s work. No one will ever know how long this poor fellow has suffered but survived like this! Now, thanks to SDAR, SND, and you, we can give this youngster a new start on the rest of his no longer mysterious life. Please contribute anything you can to help with the cost of getting him well and off to his new life with a forever family of his own. Won't you please begin helping now? It's easy, just click on the PayPal or the USPS links for instructions. Want to see King V in a much happer moment? Just click right here https://www.doberman911.org ! THANK YOU!! Sugar
!!
|
UPDATE - March 13, 2023:
Very sad news for Sweet Sugar... After enduring
all she had been through in her short life she couldn't beat the mysterious
illness which took her life. She had been recovering pretty well
after her ordeal of constant attacks with the HDDR Angels she began
showing signs of lameness to the point of paralysis. She was taken
for diagnosis which included x-ray and specialty neuorological evaluation.
That consult confirmed a severe spinal inflammation the diagnosis included
a possible meningitis. Heavy duty antibiotics were given but the
problem raged on and so mercifully she was released with love.
So much pain but no longer for her. Rest in Peace dear Lady, you
were fo loved!! We thank you and the HDDR Angels for your support!

UPDATE
- February 24, 2023: Almost
a year later, dear Samson continues to obsessively chew on his nub.
After consulting with his vet, he's heading back to have more
of it surgically removed. Something akin to phantom pain is still
impinging on the nerves there. He is scheduled for 2-28-2023
so send him some healing thoughts with your support! Thank you!

Miracle
!!
|
February, 2023: A Miracle! That’s what perfectly describes what this beautiful 1 year old Dobie girl has just received! She arrived at the shelter not bearing weight on her right rear leg. X-rays revealed she had a horribly fractured tibia and fibula (see inset below). Vets who viewed the images at the shelter opined that amputation was going to be the only solution for the leg. Her x-rays were shown to a colleague, an orthopedic surgeon, who had a different opinion and would take on this repair with confidence. Miracle also had a pretty severe respiratory infection so it was necessary to postpone surgery for at least a few days to make sure her stressed system could handle the surgery. Luckily she got stronger almost right away and the miracle worker surgeon was able to save her leg with a plate and exceptional and very intricate wiring. She is being kept confined in the hospital for a few days to ensure her healing continues on track. So far the bill is nearly $5K and will likely go a little higher before this saga is over – you know what specialty services can cost even in the best of times. Fortunately for Miracle, the shelter called the Dober Angels of Doberman Pinscher Rescue in Fillmore, California to take on Miracle as their ward (like they always do :) and of course DPR vowed to give this sweet pup the life she deserves and the miracle she needed to be able to keep her leg! Please help this very active Rescue with any amount you can afford. Do it now please! Sweet little Miracle thanks you too! Just click on the PayPal link or the USPS link for instructions. Your very kind and tax deductible donation surely helps to keep our many dedicated rescues in the important business of being able to help the next Dobe in need. Want to see a Miracle Princess? Legend
!!
|
February, 2023: Redux ate what?? Meet Legend, a 4-month old DobeKid! Puppies, they are a lot of work, especially curious and intelligent breeds like our Dobies! They need to be watched at ALL times. I would even venture to say this includes keeping the pup safe! That being said, we have another obstruction! The Rescue Warriors of Doberman Pinscher Rescue located in Fillmore California received a call from a private owner who stated her four month old pup ate ‘a roll of napkins’ and now had an unpassable obstruction! He needed life saving surgery right away, however, she did not have the funds to provide the needed care. She agreed to surrender her pup to DPR, who, in turn, saw to it that the immediately needed, life saving surgery and subsequent post op hospital stay was carried through. And guess what, it wasn’t even a roll of napkins, it was a SOCK! UGHH! I don’t need to tell you that any type of invasive surgery is costly and dangerous, even without the added hospital stay - at an Emergency Clinic no less! All these factors made vets try the fluid-flush first - and it WORKED!! YAAAAY!! No surgery but only a third of the very high total what it could have been! And, this is why DPR has come to our SND community for assistance with Legend’s outstanding emergency care. DPR consistently takes in Dobes with medical needs and provides the best of care in each case. To help DPR stay solvent and able to help the never ending slew of ill and injured Dobermans they’ve some to our SND angels for assistance with Legend’s vet fees. Yes, times are tough for every one of us, however a gift of ANY amount would be greatly appreciated. NO donation is ever toi small! And it’s easy-peasy to give! Just click on the PayPal link or the USPS link for instructions. Your tax deductible donation surely helps to keep our many dedicated rescues in the important business of being able to help the next Dobe in need. Want to see a Dobe Hunk to be? Diego
!!
|
February, 2023: He ate what????? Meet Diego! He's a 14 month old Dober boy who came to Doberman Rescue League in Oakland Park, Florida as an owner surrender. The former owners said they didn’t have enough time for exercise or attention for him. Once at his foster’s house he had diarrhea, gagging and discharge from every direction. After bloodwork and xrays, it was discovered that he is heartworm positive, has Von Willebrand disease AND a foreign object in his tummy. The first option was to try and move the object with a fluid flush. That didn’t work. So surgery was the only next step to take. During surgery they found a medium-sized #14 billiard ball! Yes, that's right, a billiard ball!! Thank goodness it didn’t cause any other injuries such as cutting off circulation and creating necrosis in his stomach! Luckily, he was also neutered during that surgery as precautions already had been taken because of his vWd status. He is recovering well and in about a month will start heartworm treatment. He is now a happy Dober boy! Saving this young pool player was a VERY expensive endeavor complicated and dangerous because of his bleeding disorder. Please join us in supporting DRL's effort to save Diego with any donation so they can continue to do their magic, even for the ones who make billiard balls disappear! Please join us now! Just use the link on the right or by USPS !! Want to see a truly handsome DUDE who's given up pool for good? Just click here https://www.doberman911.org. THANK YOU from Diego, DRL and SND too! Shadow
!!
|
February, 2023: Every shadow should be this beautiful... This lovely shadow comes to us from Michigan, another victim of neglect and clueless people (dare I say ??? - I’m observing, you decide what fits). This gorgeous boy of six years was given away via a social media platform (strike one) by people who were threatening euthanasia for this sweet guy. A couple picked him up and kept him for about a month's time when the male part of this hapless pair put Shadow in his vehicle and proceed to drive to the deep woods and boot him out of the car (strike two)... remember, this is in Michigan. In February. The temperatures were well below zero; no one has any idea how Shadow survived the horrific deep freeze. Fortunately, some unnamed hero was able to grab Shadow and get him to J9's Doberman and Bunny Rescue (Home Run!). The wonderful news is Shadow is now safe, warm, fed and soaking up megatons of love. However, a couple of issues remain. Of course, being the victim of neglect, all of Shadow's vaccinations are out of date (or likely non-existent) and he has a rather ominous looking lump. J9’s D&BR has scheduled our boy for a needle aspirate and follow up for his bump - we're hoping it's a lipoma, but everyone needs to be sure. He's such a good and beautiful boy. J9’s is a small rescue and as such, runs on donations. They have come to Special Needs Dobermans for assistance with Shadow's biopsy and follow up so Shadow can be rid of his lump and live the healthy, happy life he so very much deserves. Won't you join us now? You can do so with your donation using the link on the right or by USPS so we can J9's Rescue Angels help more sweet Dobes like Shadow. Please donate to SND and send J9 a donation for Shadow - and send him some love! His smile will sweep you off your feet! Want to take a glimpse of our arctic survivor? Moseley
!!
|
February, 2023: Hello SND family! Let me start by saying I’ve been a SND case manager for more than 15 years. You would think our rescues and we case managers would’ve seen it all by now. Sadly, this is never the case. That being said, I’m going to tell you about Moseley. Moseley is still a baby, only ten months old! He was turned into a shelter as a stray (one of those "yeah, right" turn-ins). A stray? Was he a stray? Or was he a dump? Who knows?? I tend to lean toward dump myself, but I digress. In any case, Mosely was relinquished with a NASTY, filthy, rotting bandage on his left front limb! The intake shelter staff knew without hesitation that Moseley needed urgent medical care, care that was beyond them and their resources. Luckily, for Moseley, this shelter was aware of the awesome Rescue Warriors with Doberman Pinscher Rescue (located in Fillmore, California), and they wasted no time notifying the DPR Warriors that this pup had a life threatening condition. Upon notification from the shelter, Moseley was immediately picked up by a DPR volunteer and taken directly to DPR’s vet for STAT treatment. Poor Moseley had had a fractured leg quite some time back that had been set and it appeared the bone itself was healing. However, the bandages were NEVER CHANGED as he grew! Mosely’s leg was literally rotting away!! How could any being be so apathetic to allow this happen??? Can you even imagine the PAIN this pup was in with his skin and tissue rotting away, the original dressing stuck to the rotting tissue, tendons, bone!! And the odor of infected and necrosing tissue would not have gone unnoticed, as that odor is foul! Back to treatment: Moseley’s leg was diligently tended to, with every treatment possible, to save it. But, with the length of time the leg was left to die, Moseley ultimately had to have the appendage amputated. With the costs of the specific pre-amputation care provided (debriding, antibiotics, dressings, x-rays) and the limb amputation itself, as well as required post op care, the DPR Warriors have come to our SND community for any available assistance. Without DPR stepping up to save Moseley, he would have eventually died, either by septic shock or the dreaded needle. We are aware times are tough, however, if you are able to make a donation of ANY amount to help keep DPR solvent to enable care for the next Dobe in need, it would be greatly appreciated! Remember, NO gift is ever too small. You can easily make your donation by either PayPal or USPS, just click on the link you’d prefer to use. Thanks to the dedication of DPR, Moseley will now be able to heal and move onto the rest of his life where he will finally know kindness and love! DPR, SND and especially Moseley thank you in advance for your continued generosity!! Because of the emergent nature of Moseley's situation, we don't have really great pix - except for the REALLY graphic one of his arm - we're not showing you that... But, here's another shot of this precious Dude here https://www.doberman911.org. THANK YOU for reading and helping! Beth McCahren, Moseley's SND Case Manager. |

Sherman
!!
|
February, 2023: Sherman is a gorgeous hunk of Red Doberman! At 5 years old he is 103 lbs of Doberlove! He is not overweight, he's just a big boy! You've heard that saying: "I'm not fat, I'm big-boned!!" Sherman was left behind by his first family in the care of elderly parents. After being knocked down by Sherman friendly exuberance, they called the wonderful Rescue Angels of Doberman Rescue of Nevada to take him. Of course they didn’t refuse. When taken to the vet, he had horribly dirty and infected ears. He also quit eating. The pain of his ears and the only family he had ever known being nowhere in sight was believed to be the reason for his not eating. After two days of his lack of appetite, his ears were addressed and cleaned and were no longer the apparent problem so xrays were taken. Lo and behold, there was a piece of wire in his stomach. So Sherman needs stomach surgery which he will be getting pronto! Prognosis is great for a full recovery. Luckily he does not need to be neutered too. This surgery is very expensive - especially in these trying times and DRNV relies on donations to keep helping Dobies like Sherman. With your help, SND is here to help Sherman and DRNV! Please consider sending Sherman a donation and so aid in their mission of saving our much loved Dobermans. You can start now by using the link on the right or by USPS . Sherman, DRNV and all of us at SND appreciate your continuing support!! Want to see a winning smile? Just click right here https://www.doberman911.org. THANK YOU!! Merlot
!!
|
February, 2023:
Look up “regal”
in the dictionary and you will see a picture of Merlot. The perfect
picture of regal and strong! Now his immune system may be attacking
him from the inside out. Merlot is like a fine aged wine - 7 years old
and sure to make someone a delightful companion after his medical issues
are addressed. He's been a ward of the Rescue Angels at Dobies
and Little Paws Rescue in Fillmore, California since early 2021 where
he spent time decompressing from the environment he'd been in.
Once he was back at The Ranch he was noticed to be chewing at his rear
quarters and tail and his skin had a strange bumpy appearance, looking
as though it was peeling off in places. He seemed lethargic and
often whimpered for no apparent reason. Merlot is believed to
have an autoimmune condition leading to the skin issues. He also
had a hernia that was repaired as he was neutered which may be part
of his attention to his rear. Both the skin and hernial problems
have been addressed and we're now awaiting the diagnostic pathology
report on the skin biopsies. We all know interventions like
these don't come cheaply let alone the costs for any treatment that
may be required! The angels at Doberman Pinscher Rescue in Fillmore,
CA are doing everything they can to help this Doberdude. Please
help support them as they help him become a HEALTHY, beautiful regal
gent again and send him some love! You can begin now by sending
a donation to help DALPR defray the costs of Merlot's care so he can
continue on the road to health! Just do it now by using the link
on the right or by USPS
so we can enable
the DALPR Angelscontinue to help more other precious Dobes like Merlot!

Marley
!!
|
January, 2023:
Beautiful
Marley was surrendered to Doberman Rescue of Nevada recently by people
that lost their home, which, as it happens, was a very fortunate turn
of events for Marley. Although she's 8 years old, it appears she's
led a life of benign neglect and indifference. Her nails appear
to have never been trimmed, she's intact and she was completely shut
down mentally when surrendered. Making matters worse is the fact
that this dear girl is clearly arthritic and was not receiving any therapy
or medication to help relieve her discomfort. We're happy to report
that Getter's Army at DRNV had immediately taken Marley to their wonderful
veterinarian and now Marley is holding her head high and feeling better
with the help of a simple medication. But, some disconcerting
issues remain. Marley has an ominous growth in her mouth and her
liver values are elevated, both of which will be investigated when Marley
has her spay surgery and a liver biopsy will be taken. Marley
now is engaging with her rescue cohorts and showing her regal personality.
It has been wonderful to watch this beautiful senior come out
of her shell and show the world her Dobergirl personality. She's
regal, sweet and has all the traits of what a beautiful Dobergirl should
have. Marley's transformation has been incredibly rewarding, but
it has not come cheaply. Her spay surgery will come with the added
liver biopsy and the investigation of the worrisome growths in her mouth,
but be assured DRNV will do everything to make sure Marley will now
live the life of a beloved and treasured family member when she's adopted
by some lucky person. DRNV has come to SND for assistance for
Marley's surgery and care... we've all had the honor of having a Senior
Dobe in our lives. So, please join us by sending a donation to
help DRNV defray the costs of Marley's care so she can continue on the
road to happiness and love. You can do so with your donation to
SND using the link on the right or by USPS
so we can enable
the DRNV Rescue Angels help more sweet Dobes like Marley.

Kobi
!!
|
January, 2023: Kobi is a total love! He is an eight year old Senior Gent who is said to be "just about the most perfect Doberman ever." He loves people, children, and other animals. He knows all of his commands and is "smart as a whip." Unfortunately for all, there was an unexpected change in Kobi’s family dynamics and his heartbroken owner sadly had to face rehoming him. Knowing the dedicated rescue warriors of Doberman Pinscher Rescue of Pennsylvania would find Kobi a new and loving home, Kobi was released into their care. Upon Kobi’s initial "new rescue" vet visit, a mass that was observed on his upper neck was biopsied. The cytology revealed "possible melanoma." It is now imperative the mass be removed and sent to pathology for an exact diagnosis before any treatment plan can be initiated. An excisional biopsy (removal of entire mass) is in and of itself costly, now add the additional fees of a pathology diagnosis and then possible (probable) treatment. DPRPA knows from experience that they are facing a mounting veterinarian expense, but that isn’t keeping them back from providing Kobi the best possible outcome. The DPRPA rescue warriors have come to our SND community for assistance with Kobi’s care. Sweet Kobi deserves to live his senior years to the fullest, therefore SND is asking for donations of ANY amount to help Kobi! Remember, NO donation is ever too small, and each and every gift is greatly appreciated! Our Dobermans, rescues and all of us at SND thank you and are forever grateful for your continued generosity in assisting with saving many lives. Won't you please begin helping with your donation to SND using the link on the right or by USPS so we can enable the DPRPA Angels continue to help more deserving Dobes like Kobi! Want to see a handsome Dobe Gent close up? Just click right here https://www.doberman911.org. THANK YOU from Kobi, DPRPA and SND!! Beth McCahren, Kobi's SND Case Manager. |

Dusty
!!
|
January, 2023: The state of California has been ravished by some of the most intense and damaging storms in memory, and this horrible situation is the backdrop of dear Dusty's arrival at Bella and Sunshine Rescue. He made his debut with a bit of a cough, which his new angels thought was a touch of kennel cough from his shelter stay where he was on the blue cocktail list that day! He was rescued there and he was placed in a loving foster home to prepare him for adoption. Dusty is just a youngster at 19 months, and everyone felt he would soon be over the cough... but it got worse, much worse! While at his fosters, Dusty kept coughing and gagging and eventually coughed and gagged up a piece of fluff from a blanket or article of clothing he had ingested (at the shelter?). Fearing an obstruction his foster took him to urgent care right away. Our sweet boy was tested for pancreatitis (thankfully negative) and soon was discovered to have aspiration pneumonia... equally miserable, but much more easily treatable than the dreaded GI issue. Dusty is now being treated with a round of high caliber antibiotics and he is much more comfortable. He’s sleeping through the night and beginning to display the joyous Dobe behaviors we all love. Thanks to his foster, his vets and Bella and Sunshine Rescue, Dusty is improving rapidly. Without the intervention he got, poor Dusty very likely would have succumbed to this terrible respiratory infection. BSR is one of the newer fighters in the war for Doberman orphans, and in their short history on the front lines, they have helped and homed many wonderful Dobes. Because they are dependent on donations as all nonprofits are, they stretch every cent to help their Dobes, and they have come to us at Special Needs Dobermans for fundraising help to cover Dusty's sizeable veterinary bills. How can anyone say no to this face?? Please, begin helping with your donation to SND using the link on the right or by USPS so we can enable the BSR Angels help more sweet Dobes like Dusty. Want to see a dusted-off and happy Dusty? Just click right here https://www.doberman911.org. THANK YOU from Dusty, Bella and Sunshine Rescue, SND and me, Dusty's proud advocate. December 2022 Still Active Cases
Rogue !! |
December, 2022: At only two years old, beautiful, (and sadly, confused) Rogue was sitting in a noisy animal shelter. During her intake evaluation, it was clear to the shelter staff that Rogue is handicapped in her hind quarters. Her back legs move awkwardly, therefore, her stride is impaired, rendering her unsteady on her feet. The shelter staff knew that Rogue had a very poor chance of being adopted into a home. They also knew her needs would be more than the shelter could monetarily provide. This reality led the shelter staff to notify the Rescue Warriors of Doberman Pinscher Rescue located in Fillmore, California asking if DPR could take Rogue into their rescue to provide what the shelter was unable to. The DPR Angels stepped right up for Rogue. (During her initial vet visit it was discovered Rogue actually has several medical issues.) Regarding her hind quarters, X-rays were done and it was determined that her handicap was due to an old injury which had, unfortunately, improperly healed. However, the vet doesn’t think Rogue is in pain, so nothing further was recommended at this time regarding that issue. Rogue was also found to be positive (affected) for Von Willebrand’s Syndrome (which is a bleeding disorder caused by low levels of clotting proteins in the blood). And sure enough, during her spay surgery, Rogue had extensive bleeding which resulted in plasma with clotting factors being infused! Talk about an additional expense!! The added costs of several x-ray views and the very expensive plasma transfusions have led DPR to our SND family for assistance with the vet expenses. At any given time DPR has multiple medical cases they fund so any help we can provide will be greatly appreciated. Please remember, NO amount donated is ever too small! Your tax deductible gift can be delivered to SND by USPS or PayPal by using the links here. Rescues need donations to stay solvent, and here’s a chance to show your support for DPR and their dedication to our beloved breed! Trust me, a donation of any amount is greatly appreciated and will be matched by Secret Santa until 12/31/2022! The rescues, the Dobermans and we at SND are forever grateful for your continued support! Just need a little more inspiration? Just click right here https://www.doberman911.org. Rogue, DPR Angels and SND THANK YOU! Beth McCahren, Rogue's SND Case Manager. |

Shasta
!!
|
December, 2022: It's a mystery as to how something as youthful and lovely could be wandering the mean streets alone and end up impounded with no one looking for her. Feast your eyes on Shasta, now safe and happy with Ardis and Doberman Pinscher Rescue in Fillmore, California. Shasta was found wandering the streets, but seems to be well nourished and in fairly good spirits and shape. Shasta was brought to DPR's veterinarians for spay and it was found that she has a very low von Wiilebrand’s factor. Allowing a pup to wander at any time is bad enough but with vonWillebrand's it is inviting disaster because she could bleed out after an accident or dog fight. It's seriously difficult to fathom just how anyone could let an adorable puppy be abandoned like this. BUT the good news is that Shasta has been successfully spayed with proper precautions of plasma and clotting factor and she is recovering very nicely and will be ready for an adoring adopter in short order. DPR does this - literally - all the time, however, it takes the support of many generous supporters and the support of Special Needs Dobermans to keep them operating and solvent. Please, help DPR continue to bring happiness and beauty to the thousands of Dobermans they save by sending your donation to SND today. AND, don't forget, your donation will be matched by Secret Santa, so it's double the fun, double the Dobes helped! Let's make this easy, the links to donate via USPS or PayPal are right here. THANK YOU!! Leslie Michell-Young, Shasta’s SND Case Manager. |

Imogen
!!
|
December, 2022: This little lovely is four year old Imogen. She was discovered in a San Francisco shelter by the ever vigilant rescue warriors of Bella and Sunshine Rescue located in Ontario California. When B&SR submitted a request to pull her, the shelter staff shared that this very sweet girl had already been spayed, she has a visible head tilt and possible vestibular (balance) issues (OK, that can be dealt with). When Imogen settled in with her foster family, it was quickly noted what the animal shelter did not share - that Imogen had been treated for hematuria (bloody urine) and very frequent and painful urination with the strong antibiotic Clavamox for a full week without improvement! Her foster mom called B&SR to inform them that poor Imogene was urinating every TEN minutes and was squatting to go half of the time in-between with no results! Not only that, but the urine was the color of FRUIT PUNCH! The shelter actually spayed Imogen with an acute infection which in itself is a big fat NO, but they didn’t even try to diagnose the actual urinary problem! Now we did have an emergency!! Imogen immediately had an appointment with urgent care. A urine sample was obtained directly from the bladder for precision for diagnostics. At that time, a mass half of the size of Imogen’s bladder was discovered! An ultrasound was authorized for clarity and it is definitely a mass. Also, the urine sample had ‘visible cells’ which is not a good sign. Specimens have been sent out for pathology for both cancer cells and a UTI (fingers crossed we’re dealing with an infection only). Imogen has been suffering for who knows how long, but B&SR are determined to get a proper diagnosis and treat accordingly. B&SR presently has several fosters under medical treatment and this new and unexpected issue is hitting their pocketbook very hard. This dedicated rescue has come to our SND family requesting any assistance we can possibly provide to help them navigate the mounting medical bills. NO amount donated is ever too small and is always greatly appreciated! Donating is easy, the tabs to donate via USPS or PayPal are right here. (If using PayPal and if possible, please click on the ‘send money’ and ‘friends and family’ tabs to keep your gift ‘fee free’ when possible). We understand this is a rough time of year for most of us, and we at SND Nation, as well as the Dobes and rescues, truly appreciate your caring and continued generosity! Thank you SO much!! Beth McCahren, Imogen's SND Case Manager. |
