Rescue Group: Doberman Pinscher Rescue

This 8 year old cropped and docked male Dobe first came to us while he was at the Orange County shelter. His "evaluation date" was rapidly approaching which meant his days were numbered in the low single digits. Then, a Dober-saviour swooped down and got this boy out of the Shelter just in time. While he's out of immediate harm's way, he still needs a home. His original listing said he had a skin condition. This observation was made at the shelter. Now that he's been with someone familiar with Dobes, it is obvious he just has had some fleas and the telltale scratch and chew marks on his back. Easily treated! Here's more from his rescuer:

"He is a bit rusty on obedience, but was SO excited to practice commands. Walks on a loose leash. He still remembers sit, down, shake. Stay is not so good. Stops on a dime when I do. He does NOT look like the photo. I will post a new one here. In the current photo he looks thick & soft. He is really slim & firm, with great firm ears that stand. He did the flying Superman leap into the back of my Jeep. No hip problems or leg weakness here. He is a total mushmuffin leaner too - as if that were a surprise. Does not seem to have issues. Melted into my lap as soon as we got home." More details and pictures to follow, stay tuned.

Update - 03/15/03: (from Roger's current foster mom) "Roger is a real gentleman. He gets along with my male & female. He plays with little dogs. Has a mid range heart murmur. X-rays were clear - nothing growing inside. x-rays show a bit of arthritis, but someone forgot to tell Roger that. He talks. He mumbles and grumbles when he walks around. He is now flea free and on antibiotics to heal the area of his back that he chewed. The best parts? He is very low maintenance, affectionate, but not needy, and he understands NO the first time!!!"

Roger's Happy Tail!
04/02/03:
"His new mom drove from Denver, Colorado to Southern California. They met yesterday. Today, she picked him up early this morning and is back enroute to Denver. Roger's new house is finished being built and he now has a new fenced yard. Skin condition? What skin condition? Roger did his best to impress his new mom. He did sit, down, shake, stay. When we all went out on a walk, he proudly produced everything he had been saving for the last 2 days. Charming. Roger did the flying superman leap into the back of her SUV and they were off!!!"
