Meet Mr. Taz!!

A Man For All
Seasons - Let's be sure he gets to enjoy many more!!

Mr. Taz, sharing
the couch with Sis Kira and yard patrol with Bro Meeka!!
Once in a lifetime, those of us who have devoted our lives to our Dobermans come across a Dobe that has come into the world that seemed destined for us alone. The Dobe that grabbed your soul the second you saw one another, immediately embedding himself inside your heart. He is the only creature in the universe that shares your wavelength, communicating with you on that innermost plane that defines who and what you are, becoming a component of your very being. He becomes your indentity, as you become a part of him... he makes you whole... once in a lifetime... Taz is such a Dobe!
To
look at Taz, one is instantly taken with his distinctive coloration. His distinction
goes far beyond his spellbinding appearance -- he is the embodiment of his Mother's
heart and an amazing force of strength to his entire family. He is loving, strong
and an unending source of joy to his family who are weathering the storms of
financial hardship and job loss. On a recent morning, Taz started limping -
not that unusual for an active 6 year old enjoying play with his siblings. He
visited his doctor who prescribed antibiotics and instructed Robin and Mike
to watch him for any changes. Both Robin and Mike became apprehensive when not
only did Taz not improve, but a lump appeared. Being intimately aware of health
problems in Dobermans, Taz returned to his vet and some tests were run. The
diagnosis is completely devastating - osteosarcoma -- one of the most virulent,
aggressive and deadly malignancy's known to medicine... but treatable when caught
early.
Robin and Mike have spent the last week scrambling, researching treatment options
and consulting veterinarians near and far. Thankfully, Taz's lungs are clear
and show no signs of metastases and he remains strong of body and spirit. Today,
a week after the terrible news, they have decided to have Taz's leg amputated
and have the standard protocols for chemo and radiation. He had his surgery
Friday the 19th of February and once his incision heals, this family will embark
on the journey to keep Taz free from pain and happy. He will begin chemotherapy
and hopefully this monster will have been caught early enough to be vanquished.
Taz is the force in Robin's life that has enabled her to keep going after a
devastating job loss. She never imagined the family would be hit with such a
horrific and expensive illness with their youngest son Taz. Robin and Mike have
been supporters of SND in the past as they have lost beloved Dobes to both kidney
failure and DCM at young ages an knew how critical it is for help to be available
for Dobe in need. Now dear Taz and his family need our help desperately. Their
one hope is to make every moment of Taz's life as comfortable and pain free
as possible. Both Robin and Mike are well aware of what they're dealing with.
Please help Taz and his loving family. Taz is one of the most intuitive beings
on the planet - he already is checking himself when going from the sofa to the
floor, protecting his leg from injury. When at the vet's during a consultation,
Taz slowly circled the room, kissing his mother as he made the rounds and finally
backed himself into an empty chair, listening carefully to the conversation
around him. Doctors whom he only met that day were awestruck at his attitude
and spirit and learned what Robin and Mike have always known... Taz is a once
in a lifetime Doberman. Your support and friendship will be forever appreciated
by Robin and Mike, but Taz, too, will know of your kindness.
Please help SND give Taz that fighting chance he desperately needs to beat back this threat to his life by sending in a tax-deductible donation online by using the PayPal button below, or by mailing one in. No donation is too small…it all adds up! Thank you for any help you are able to give to this most gorgeous DobeGuy! And, thank you for your continued support!
