Schartzie!

Schartzie is an enchanting and beautiful 12 year old Dobergirl who has spent her life with Ann traveling the show circut and being the envy of many owners and breeders all over the East Coast. In August of 2006, Ann noted that Schartzie's water intake increased dramatically and took her to her devoted vet, Dr. Raymond Yeomans. Dr. Yeomans ran a number of tests and discovered that Schartzie had developed Diabetes Incipidus, a condition that can be managed with a costly medication - $80.00 for a three week supply. Schartzie has done very well since she was put on her medication. Recently, Ann went to refill Schatz's prescription and discovered that the cost has increased to $140.00 for the same amount of drops (Desmopressin). Ann is in her mid-seventies and living on SSI and is herself dealing with the pain - and expense of Rhumetoid Arthritis; an illness which requires injections of another very expensive medication. Ann finds herself now in the terrible position of debating if she can afford her own medication so she can keep Schatz healthy and on her Desmopressin. Ann has been a Doberman breeder, rescuer, handler and lover for almost 50 years. She has made countless contributions to the Doberman community and to the dog world in general. On a personal note, Ann has had a hand in the adoption of three of my own Dobes, even saving the life of one of them.
