BEWARE... I am BACK thanks to my folks and all of you!!
HAPPY TAIL UPDATE-April, 2008!! Hot off the presses from Nikko's Mom! Thanks to the expertise of the veterinarians of Colorado State University, Nikko went from being a paralyzed boy to not only walking but chasing squirrels again! Nikko's mom now has a hefty bill to pay for his surgery. While every cent was well worth it, his mom has been working full time plus all of the extra shifts she can to pay Nikko's bill. Please help Nikko's mom repay the wonderful vets at CSU!! You can see Nikko then, lying on the floor in his Depends... and thanks to the wonderful vets, now, the pictures directly above show this magnificent boy BACK in ACTION... look at those feet move!! Thank you for every cent you can offer this family. A little bit always adds up to a lot! THANKS from Nikko and ALL of us too!! There will be one happy DobeMom this year!! Read about dear Nikko in a note from his Mom:
"Dear
Beth and SND,
Nikko is back to his old self again... if not better. He is running around chasing
squirrels in the back yard, chasing his cat L.B. and following me everywhere.
He's going for car rides in the convertible and has been to play with some of
his friends. We aren't allowing him to play tug anymore for we're too afraid
he may injure his neck or back but other than that he is 110% He is very known
and loved at CSU Vet hospital in fact when he goes for check ups he is taken
on rounds by the vet or vet students around to various departments to say hello
to everyone who has helped in caring for him, everyone just loves him and say
he's one of their favorites and can't believe his progress without expensive
rehab! He has also gone on a few walks is fetching his ball and is looking forward
to hikes in the mountains (short hikes we'll be sure to take it easy on him)
Thanks to everyone for all your hard work, and I will be sure to pass along
your name and mission to everyone I kn! Here's some updated photos of my handsome
Dobe!
Love,
Becky and Nikko and Family!"
December 18, 2007 is a day Nikko's adoring owner Rebecca will never forget. When her Nikko woke up, he could move his ears and nothing more! He was rushed to Colorado State University Veterinary Hospital where, after a myelogram was performed, it was discovered he had a ruptured disc. Nikko had the very expensive but necessary surgery that hopefully would allow him to stand and walk again. While he was in the hospital he unfortunately developed pneumonia, which hindered his recovery. When Nikko went home, he was unable to stand, and in fact, could barely move at all. He coughed constantly and had to have chest therapy done several times a day to keep the mucus in his lungs loosened. Because of the loving and very dedicated care Nikko received from his family following his hospitalization, he is free of the pneumonia and is recovering from the spinal surgery. After all Nikko has been through, he has now been diagnosed with a malfunctioning heart valve. Poor guy! When it rains it pours it seems...
Nikko's mom is not only studying to be a nurse but also working two jobs just to pay for her beloved Nikko's very large veterinary bill. Won't you please help SND assist Rebecca in paying the fee for the veterinarians who saved sweet, brave, Nikko's life!
