The appearance of Millie's aging body suggests she has suffered from not only a lifetime of malnutrition, but also from years of confinement in a small area. The results of this neglect reveal themselves by the absence of body fat and muscle tone, drooping hind-quarters and an awkward, unsteady gait. Her sickly body was ridden with hook and whip worms, stealing away all of what little life she had left in her. Her initial vet exam indicated this DobeLady might also have an emerging cardiac problem as well. The examination also unveiled severe yeast infections in both ears, solving the mystery of why Millie would cry if her ears were barely touched. This little Dobeiegirl was caked in greasy dirt and was infested with fleas, both alive and dead. And although nervous, she tolerated the several baths it took until she was finally clean and odor free.
It is obvious Miss Millie has lived her life totally neglected, devoid of even the basics of food and exercise. She doesn't know what a toy is for, and she's afraid of indoor flooring. She is fearful and gets anxious and paces if she isn't constantly beside Jane, her Rescue Angel from Atlanta Doberman Pinscher Rescue. Jane is the only security she has ever known. It will take time and patience to know if the many years of neglect can be reversed, but Jane is committed to giving little Millie all the love and medical care she needs, for as long as she needs, to enable her to live her remaining years as happy and healthy as possible.
